Good morning from a brightish E Kent. It was cold and grey yesterday, it’s trying for ☀️ sun now, it will revert to its grey and cold iteration.
DS2 will be coming to lunch and taking me to a garden centre for my belated birthday present from the 3 DC. Looking forward to seeing my beloved “baby”.
Hope today brings ? rain for those who want it, but sunshine ☀️ in their lives,. ???

Pantglas2 Fri 30-Apr-21 06:27:43

Good morning Mick from a quiet ? now north Wales where I’m up with sparrowfart as I’m going to work...? not as bad as it seems, I’m simply popping in to DDs office to learn how to do wages!

It’s something I used to do in a previous life and I offered to help her out over the summer months when her holiday business picks up again ?

A friend is popping over later for a sundowner or two in the garden so a lovely start to the weekend- hope you all have as good a day especially those having tough times at the moment ? a little respite has been ordered x

Morning Mick, morning All. A dry start to our corner of Somerset, some sunshine in the forecast. Still chilly.

Sounds to be a lovely day ahead grandMattie, enjoy lunch and your trip out. Well deserved. Fish and chips sound good mick, salmon and roast vegetables for us, think I’d prefer chips grin.

Bit of a change of plan for us this morning, a frail neighbour needs a lift to her hair appointment. Parking restrictions and her general wobbliness means best for us both to go. Happy to do it, she’s a good friend, her family are dealing with a health emergency so unavailable this time. If the sunshine arrives we’ll fill the waiting time with a pavement coffee.

Other than that not sure what the day will bring. Something will fill the space for sure.

Take care everyone. Hope Friday is gentle with us all.

Good morning from Shropshire.

I am feeling a bit under the weather after my second vaccination yesterday so DH will take charge of looking after Henry and doing school pick up.

Hoping Cherry has had a peaceful, restful night and that Ash is feeling better.

Thinking of Harrigran and all who are struggling.

Urmstongran Fri 30-Apr-21 06:34:26

Good morning Mick & grandMattie and all who follow. I can see the Pennines quite clearly this morning so it’s a promise of a nice day, all being well. I have absolutely no plans for today although Himself will walk round to the grammar school this evening to watch the boy wonder at cricket practice. Apparently he has a guitar lesson and a swimming lesson today too at school. He told me last night ‘the best bit is going on the coach to the baths grandma with all my friends’. Small pleasures eh when you’re nearly 9y?

Hope Friday is good to us all. Still miss out Friday ‘Yay’ girl. Heard from Maw last night - she has picked up her rescue greyhound (she is keeping her name Rosie) and will send me a photo soon which I can pin up here so we can all ‘meet’ her.
?
Keep safe everyone. x

Urmstongran Fri 30-Apr-21 06:37:42

X posts already with you 3 ladies! This is such a busy thread nowadays. Enjoy your sundowner Pantglas!

harrigran Fri 30-Apr-21 06:38:20

Good morning from a dry chilly NE.
I have been awake since 3.50 and I have a full day ahead of me looking after DH.
I got a message from DD last night to say that she is travelling to the UK next week. If she has to quarantine I am not sure she will get to see either DH or me.

Ashcombe Fri 30-Apr-21 06:43:41

Good morning, everyone, from a bright day in Torbay.

Thank you for all the kind comments regarding my vaccination dilemma which was resolved by me having it yesterday afternoon! Yay! Since I wasn’t running a temperature and my recent lateral flow test was negative (I’m testing twice a week), they had no qualms about giving me my second dose of AstraZeneca. As before, the centre in Torquay was well organised with helpful, friendly NHS staff and volunteers.

I hope all your problems are little ones and you enjoy the forthcoming bank holiday weekend. Today, my DD1, who lives in VIC, Australia, is 46! ???

Gagagran Fri 30-Apr-21 06:53:43

Morning all from a dry, bright and still cool south coast.

Late up after getting cold feet in the night - literally. I changed the winter duvet for the summer one yesterday but fortuitously had also put a fleece blanket handy so had to get up and spread that over my feet. Do miss DH in bed sometimes. He was very handy for warming up any cold extremities on. Don't miss the snoring though!

He is off on a bike club bluebell ride this morning to see the beautiful wild bluebell wood not far from us. That intoxicating scent is in my memory bank now!

DD's interview went well and she should hear within a week if she was successful. It's hard to wait I know and she is quite tense wondering.

Hope the day is a good one for us all. sunshine

Beechnut Fri 30-Apr-21 06:58:07

Good Morning all from a slightly grey Severnside.

I’m off to do the grocery shop this morning and later I might rub down the wood work on the garage ready for repainting. I should really have done the garage before when we had those sunny days but hey ho I’ve only one pair of hands. Getting the weeds up I felt was more important.

I hope Rosie had a good first night with you Maw.

Have a good day all whatever you do ?

baubles Fri 30-Apr-21 06:58:50

Good morning Mick, morning all from cloudy South Lanarkshire.

Have a lovely time with your DS gM and you enjoy your day at work Pantglas.

Hope you feel better soon Susan. I’ve been very lucky I think to have had no ill effects from the vaccine. Glad you didn’t have to postpone yours Ashcombe. How lovely for Maw to have a new companion.

Yesterday’s wander around the west end was a bit of a damp squib I’m afraid. I’d been looking forward to it all through lockdown and our travel restrictions however I hadn’t factored in the dearth of students who normally contribute so much to the bustling, youthful atmosphere of the area. The streets were practically empty and so quiet, it felt very flat. Oh and to add insult to injury the antique place was closed!

Today though, I have an appointment at the hairdressers. My hair was only cut once last year, if you don’t count the lockdown trim I gave it with the pinking shears, so it’s very long now and really needs a couple of inches lopped off.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day. ???

Beechnut Fri 30-Apr-21 07:00:59

That has brought back a lovely memory for me Gaga. Motorbike rides when the bluebells are out.

Ellianne Fri 30-Apr-21 07:12:58

Good morning from Devon. Lovely to hear about families on here and new little babies. Urmstongran you are right, we should learn from your DGS and his coach ride that small everyday pleasures are the best. Did you know we sadly lose the ability to laugh like a child quite early on.
Have a good smiley day everyone.

kittylester Fri 30-Apr-21 07:18:55

Morning all from a bright but chilly North Leicestershire.

It's all going on here today. Final bit of hall flooring being done, cleaner here and a butcher"s delivery! And, dh is driving all morning.

Had sad news yesterday from our niece telling us that her mother has died. She and DH's brother divorced many years ago and she and her daughter had a troubled relationship but, nevertheless, she was her mum. Lots of support required today, I think.

Have the best day possible everyone. I too miss our gilly.

Gelisajams Fri 30-Apr-21 07:19:25

Good morning from a damp Morecambe Bay. AZ 2 today hopefully for us both. We had an appointment for mid May but the surgery contacted us and said we could book earlier so today is the day. Hope I feel better afterwards than I did last time. I also hope DH gets his as he’s on a course of antibiotics.
I used to love the smell of bluebells when on the motor bike but I don’t miss the bike. Coming off for the third time finished my biking days. All accidents not speed.
Take care and stay safe everyone ???

brook2704 Fri 30-Apr-21 07:21:02

Good morning everyone from Cambridge where it’s a bright sunny start to the day.
I had a lovely day yesterday, a good browse around a local garden centre and then picked up DGSs from nursery and school and looked after them all evening whilst DD1 and SiL went out together. They were really happy and me too ?
Good news that you got your vaccine Ash hope there’s no side effects, and hope you’re soon feeling better soon Susan
I hope you can get to see your DD somehow harrigran
Today I’m looking forward to going shopping in town, the Grand Arcade shopping centre and some smaller shops too if they’re open. There’s a John Lewis to look round which is a treat as we don’t have one near home. After that I’m going for a wander near the river and to soak up the sights and then school pick up, so quite a busy day.
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Sar53 Fri 30-Apr-21 07:21:17

Good morning from a sunny Essex by the sea.
DH is taking the car for a service this morning, a 90 minute wait for it as no way of getting home whilst it's being done. He wants a flask of coffee and his Kindle to take with him.
I've promised to make a fruit cake, let's hope its edible ?? .
Have a great Friday everyone xx

dragonfly46 Fri 30-Apr-21 07:35:45

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

I took Dexter for his pre-op yesterday and the vet had to tell me all the things that could go wrong. It is quite scary but DD says to go ahead as it will improve his quality of life.

I have had a sneaky peak of maw’s Rosie and she is indeed gorgeous.

Will plant out my sweet peas today as my gardening friend tells me as they are quite big plants they are quite hardy. Then just dog walking and Sainsbury delivery.

So sorry to hear about your niece’s mother kitty.

dragonfly46 Fri 30-Apr-21 07:36:26

The picture is of Dexter. I was t sure it would post.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 30-Apr-21 07:42:19

Good morning Mick and all

Blue sky here so a long walk with The Imp is the plan.

Hope you feel better Susan pleased you had your second jab Ashcombe . Oh to be 9 again Urmstongran and be excited by the school coach!!

Hi Maw I hope your dear doggie settles down quickly, many walks to look forward to in the coming months.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Nannytopsy Fri 30-Apr-21 07:42:51

Good morning Mick and all his followers. Sunny in Suffolk today, so flowerbeds to dig, I think. We have only had spots of rain but there does seem to be more in the forecast.
Enjoy your fish and chips Mick . No idea what we shall have today. Time to dig in the freezer.
I hope you had a good night with Rosie Maw - looking forward to seeing the photo!
Let the day be kind to everyone.

BlueSapphire Fri 30-Apr-21 07:50:24

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny ?Northampton. Up a bit earlier this morning as I did not have a very good night.

Very little to report from yesterday, apart from trying out a new recipe, which was basically a pork bolognese with the addition of courgette, lemon juice and zest, white wine and saffron. It was alright, but nothing special. The other half is in the freezer.

No cooking today as I'm off to DD's. It will be pizza as they always have that on a Friday. I plan on making some scones to take with me, so have just got some butter out of the freezer.

Glad to hear that Maw has her new dog; hope they have many happy times together.

Enjoy your day in Cambridge, brook; I was at college near Cambridge and used to spend most weekends there, as that's where my then boyfriend was. Bittersweet memories...

Hope today goes well for us.

Pittcity Fri 30-Apr-21 07:53:45

Good morning from sunny Colchester.
Apart from a pile of ironing, no plans today. Will see what happens.
Love to all x

grandmajet Fri 30-Apr-21 08:00:28

Good morning everyone from Nottingham where it is dry and bright, at the moment.
All this talk of bluebells makes me want to go off and find a bluebell wood locally. We have some in the garden but they are the big Spanish ones, not the same at all.
What an amazing photo, dragonfly - what breed is he? I hope everything goes well for him.
Your holiday sounds just perfect brook, a real mix. I hope the weather continues to be kind.
Have a good day at ‘work’, pantglas. Experience had taught me that every job has more to it than meets the eye.
Your poor feet gagagran. It’s still cold here at night so we’ve made the decision to stick with the winter duvet for the time being.
I guess your DH has recovered from the bump on the head sar?
We’re off to get some new pond plants for our little pond today, it’s looking a bit sad at the moment. I hope it helps.
Enjoy the day, everyone.
