Always Think Twice About Naming A Child.

I was at primary school with Ivor Payne and later at grammar school with Crystal Dimond.Her sisters were called Pearl and Ruby.
When my Dd was at secondary school, her form teacher told the class that they had to be very grown up and kind when a new pupil joined the form on the following day because his name was Chester Draws.They all waited expectantly for this new kid to turn up---it was a wind up by their teacher!

My Nan had a friend called Coronation Street, born on Coronation day in 1902.

Ah yes, the initials thing I knew someone whose initials were P.I.G. Her parents only realized after the birth was registered.

A lad at school Stuart Plum was always called Stewed Plum.

I think parents should write the initial letters of their proposed names for their child, just to see if it spells anything strange.
When I was training in the police force we had a sergeant who's names were Thomas William Arthur Tate!

We had a OBGyn here in town called Dr. David Vine, and he happened to be very handsome. My husband worked at the hospital in maintenance, and he would chuckle when he heard paging 'Dr. D. Vine'

When I was growing up, I knew a Johnny Johns, a Tommy Thomas and a Willy Williams. I have taught a Pakistani lad called Dowd Dowd. I think it shows a distinct lack of imagination. When naming a child you also need to think of the initials. Think JCB, OCD and HRT!

In DH's youth, the name of a local business man was Mr Sole. He called his children; Rebecca and Richard. Think initial letter and surname. DH was at school with them.

Crispin Dry an ex work colleague, and Rubin Mycock an ex customer.

There are also names to match occupations.
I knew a Mr Berry---a funeral director.

Surely Rusty Lock and Blackie Smith were nicknames?

I went to school with Crispian Oates. I also knew a Jo King but that was through marriage rather than parents, and I went to primary school with Michael Michael, although as he was from Cyprus I suspect he may have been Michael Michaelides.

Yes Grandma KT I knew them all.
I either worked with them or met them at some time or other through my life.
