Always Think Twice About Naming A Child.

A former work colleague had a granddaughter called Polly Plonka (her dad was Polish). I had a friend called Margery Dawe, and a neighbour called Mary Lamb whose brother is called Jack Horner.

I knew of a man called Isaac Pead who lived in Pond Lane.

I once taught twins whose surname was Hall. Their first names were Victoria and Albert!

It isn't always the parents; my stepfather knew a girl named Henrietta, she later got married to a chap whose surname was Bone!!

A dd had a friend whose parents evidently thought it amusing to name her Polly Esther Cotton.

Well I once worked with a penny farthing + a Beverley Hills

There is a lady in a group I am in called Di Young. One of my distant cousins was an Olive Green. My daughter named her daughter a very unusual name which is gorgeous. I have never come across it before . It is based on a Medieval Anglo Saxon name. Can’t say it because she might turn up on google !

My mother went to school with a Richard Sole. When he grew up he went into the family butchers business. He bought a van for deliveries and had the words “R. Sole Butcher” emblazoned on the sides.

No 1 son has a very unusual name but says he has never experienced any trouble with it. Hallelujah, as it was very significant for us. No 2's was little known when he was bestowed but is totally in love with it. When he encounters someone with the same name he always asks how old they are then puffs his chest out that he was 'first'. Crazy guy but that is undoubtedly inherited!
