Good Morning 1st May 2026 "May Day"
Tuned To 'The Archers' For The First Time In Months.
Good Morning Everyone,
Its a blue sky but with cloud this morning in Brackley .
Went out yesterday , despite occasional rain showers, it was warmer than recent weeks .
Today, stay in , maybe a small shop , plus watch the Giro on TV unfold , even the weather conditions in Italy are faced with rain.
Mind you it feels like March and April rolled into one .
Take Care,
Mick
Good Morning all, sun at the moment
Marydoll this was me with my Mum Gran and Aunty and cousin taken at Troon 1938 or 39
I only know it’s Troon cos it’s says so on the back !
Happy birthday Marmight, Mrmonk08 and ta da ta da ? harri!
Will you ask a question on GQT topsy?
Hope all goes well with jet’s and dragonfly’s hospital appointments and Mrgaga’s chat with the consultant re 3rd op.
Oh, Susan56, I sense your alarm. As others have said, find a means and absolutely insist on immediate attention for your DD. Sending hugs and hoping she feels well soon.
?????
Wishing you a very Happy birthday Harrigran ??? and also MrMonk ?
I know Grandmafrench, then I will dance ?. enjoy hope you bank visit isn't too dreary! Yes, where is Scentia and Bellasnana too? Thinking of you both ???
Good morning Mick, Annie, and all.
My Ipad seems to be playing up this morning and keeps whizzing back and forth, so my eyes feel like the snake in the original Disney Jungle Book!
Had to see a locum Dr yesterday after pains in my calf, and a clot was suspected. He asked how I felt after my TKR, 5 years ago, and when I told him I wasn't impressed, he said he had been waiting 7 years, and didn't think he would bother.
Susan I do hope all is well with your daughter, you must be so worried.
Marydoll, I had a similar thought about the May babies being a result of other children returning to school in September. Re the freezer, DH did that with our old fridge, swear words abounded. ?
Glad to hear that the installation of your new kitchen is coming to an end Cherry, and that you are keeping on top of things.
Can't remember who has trouble with their teeth? But DH was given some toothpaste called Duraphat, (Colgate?) by his dentist. I wonder if that might help.
Yes, where is Scentia?
Off to mooch in town later. Our favourite charity shop was closed on Monday, and DH needs a haircut. Not that the two are related
Have a good day one and all
Glad you had a lovely time Urmstongran ?. I actually enjoy a salad with accompaniments ?
Pleased to hear that you had a lovely day by the sea too Marydoll ?. Ooh a made in Italy top for free ?. Grr, sooooo annoying about the freezer, happened to ours a few weeks ago ?. Hope you take it easy and chillax (in my nephew1's words) today.
Thank you Lins, Marydoll and Nannagarra, your well wishes are much appreciated ?
Thinking of Auntieflo and sending ? to anyone who needs them.
Hope your blood test at the hospital is more successful than at the Dr's dragonfly and the result back is a good one ?.
Good Morning All x.
Have a Happy Day on your Birthday Harrigran
Sunny and slightly breezy, but more of yesterdays disgusting weather is forecast later. The storm was right overhead here with no breeze to take it away over the river. I was so upset at the news about the little boy yesterday. It was bad here on Merseyside with large hail as well as the black sky.
I'd been doing an online order when the storm struck so turned off the comp.-----and lost my delivery slot, but what does it matter ? Did it later so it'll be here tomorrow.
Bertie cat went missing, must have been scared, but has just turned up so he must have been hiding somewhere. He's okay and had his breakfast. I had visions of going around knocking on doors in case he was shut in someone's shed. All is well.
More of a worry for you though Susan, hope it's nothing serious x We do worry, us mums, it never goes away regardless of age of our siblings.
I was saddened to hear of the closure of Brown's of Chester. A lovely and iconic shopping experience that will be greatly missed by many ( although taken by Debenhams some years ago ) it was always " Brown's ". Sad to see these places going.
I was upset enough when Lewis's closed its doors in Liverpool.
Must run the hoover over the place then flick the duster around that hoovering creates. Iron the bedding that dried nicely and that'll be the chores for today.
Good to hear that Marydoll is feeling brighter as we do all worry when someone's not well.
I'll get on with the crumpets now as I don't want to be fading away so wish everyone a good day and hope the troubles/ problems are small ones.
Thoughts as usual to our absent grans and hope they're well x
Take care all and stay safe. xx
Good morning everyone from hot, blue, sunshine-y Flamingoland ? Nannagarra what a lovely, upbeat post! Do whatever you fancy with that lawn....remember, YOLO (tell your DH!). Have a lovely ??75 and a day just for you, Harri. ? So pleased your DH shared some ‘normal’ with you. Birthday wishes to Mr Monk. Lots of May birthdays, mary - following romantic summer breaks, maybe?
You’re such a diplomat, corner! Determined Taureans indeed.....judging from the people I know, I shall call a spade a shovel and stick with stubborn....with a very big S !?
Stay strong today, grandmajet. Better luck at the hospital, dragonfly where it’s likely a Phlebotomist will succeed where your surgery has failed. I’m limiting my comment Susan ( as this is a kindly thread) and just saying I hope your DD will get the urgent attention she clearly needs and that your worries dissolve very quickly. ??
Lovely ‘picture’, grandmajean - were their hats like the ladies of Last of the Summer Wine? I had relatives like that : such lovely, innocent fun times.
Happy with news of your garage, still. Sometimes plans actually do come together. Hang in there Cherry, it’s going to be wonderful! You too, Pitt- and if he’s singing, he’ll probably do a really good job and you’ll soon be up there sorting out those frocks and putting everything away at last.
Have the best day, lovely Morning folks. We have a terminally dull visit to the bank this afternoon to sort out some new health insurance - dentistry. Ooh, be still my beating heart! I know you’re all very jealous : just picture me, behind mask, bank official behind mask, foreign language, Southern French accent, rapid ‘technical’ speak, no visible facial expressions, hard to hear.........see what you’re missing? But after that, some new pot buying for the garden to put right the ravages caused by the terrible storm we sent you had this week! And a walk on the beach in glorious weather.
Thinking of you all - wishing hard for the best Wednesday. Hi to all missing posters. Where are you Scentia? Take care all, keep safe, have some fun maybe.
?♀️????☀️x
Good morning everyone. What a storm last night. My poor roof. A sleepless night and now I’m shattered.
I am going to read the thread now, before I finish Happy Birthday Harrigran and Monk
Love to all who are ill or troubled and everyone else have a good day
Good morning everyone. Sending best wishes to you all. Sunshine and showers in this part of the Borders. Garden exploding with dandelions and blossom. Reminds me of the Gerard Manley Hopkins poem God's Grandeur. Found I turned to poetry a lot in lockdown as a respite and am grateful for rediscovering it. Have done the usual housework skim, completed minutes and have checked emails. New batch of books on the way. Decided I had to read Hamnett as every else is. Looking forward to it. Might make more bread. Had tussle with beloved dog as he had a stand off with the cats. Going to Whatsapp the children later. Two will visit in the summer once they have had a vaccine. Keep safe.x
Happy Birthday Harrigran and Mr *monks and all celebrating today ??.*Susan * hope your daughter gets to see a Dr and puts your mind at rest . We had a very noisy thunderstorm around 10/30 pm ,it was very sad to hear about young boy in Blackpool . Our garden is completely flooded following heavy rainfall water everywhere it has always been a problem here .Take care everyone ?
marydoll, wonderful photos. In the ‘50s and early ‘60s my family usually holidayed in Glasgow, my mother’s home city, and I remember day trips to Ayrshire, particularly Troon, and somewhere called the Electric Brae where cars appeared to roll up the hill! Magic. You have my sympathy about the freezer. Someone who shall not be named did that once here. Only once!!
I hope you manage to part with some blood today, dragonfly.
Good morning from a sunny East Midlands. Walk planned for later after preparing a cottage pie for tea tonight. Sewing Bee on TV later. Take care. ?
Oopsadaisy, I meant to thank you for the tip about the needle. I will try that today, as I have a few bits and pieces to do.
Happy birthday Harrigran
Morning Mick & all
Hope your DD is ok Susan , Happy Birthday Harri and Mr.monk enjoy your time our side of the big road Gingster Marydoll I love the sea in the winter months (and it does seem to be winter at least twice a day at the moment)
Off to the gym in a minute, cleaners are due so DH will be boss
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️?
Posted too soon.
Wishing everyone a good day and thinking of those with illness and worries to contend with.
I’m glad you enjoyed your day Marydoll and I’m sure the fish pie will be wonderful. I expect all of us Taureans are the result of summer holidays the previous August!
Good morning Mick and everyone, a sunny start in the VOWH but clouding up.
I’m determined to get up and do something today, I’ve spent too many days sitting, so I’m waiting for the ‘Zippity do’part of my ‘do da day’ to kick in.
DD1 has her first jab tomorrow, she was worried that she wouldn’t have a car to get there as hers was written off, but she’s been given a courtesy car, she just needs to drive carefully as it’s very big and she lives along very tight single track roads. Oh well I’m sure she will be fine, I couldn’t do it but there you go.
So pleased that you had a good day marydoll take it easy today.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs for those not so chipper.
Morning all from SW Herts, more rain clouds than blue sky, but hoping for improvement.
Susan I know that feeling of dread, hope things are not as bad as your fear, will be thinking of you. Happy Birthday Harrigran and MrMonk.
Dragonfly let's hope the hospital phlebotanist is more successful and you get your results soon.
We had a bit of a disaster yesterday, in taking the curtains down for washing, we managed to pull the curtain rail off the ceiling. The brackets and broken and an old design, have managed to order some, but will have to live with a partially suspended rail for at least a week, just hope that the cats don't decide to incorporate it in their daily gymnastics! Still nothing from the freezer repair company, having to visit a shop every other day is too tempting.
Thinking of those with worries, let's hooe for good news tomorrow.
Gagagran was the garden centre a Dobbies? When we went to our local one Cotton Traders had disappeared and become a sainsburys.
Susan hope things are ok with DD.
Thanks for all birthday wishes for DH.
Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday from Sefton where it is sunny and bright.
I didn’t manage to read Tuesday’s posts till 8pm then learned how busy you all were! I have everything crossed for your op grandmajet in eight days’ time. The tulips posted by dwm and hibiscus from grandmafrench are both firm faves with me together with the flamboyance and smell of lilies. I hope you resolve your ceiling problems soon QuaintIrene. Hurry on over to Sefton amseleren where there are plenty of lovely places for you to enjoy as EV rightly recalls.
How I giggled when I read about Gelisajams having two showers, grandmajet imagining her kidneys’ conversation, hollysteers creating a ‘floordrobe’ and olddudders relating news of Sergeant Cocking manning up regardless of the steering wheel. Urm’s suggestion of Viagra and Marydoll’s reply ‘TMI’ were priceless!
I’m having a quiet day today, having dyed my hair, praised DH (Grand Master of Procrastination) for doing some painting, picked up DGD from school then cycled back from DS’s house whilst managing to dodge heavy downpours and lightning yesterday. My day ended with a shop in you know where for not just any old fish and chips for the decorator. Today, when I've read your posts, I might embark on a project from Knitting for Nowt and repeat my ‘misdemeanour’ of liberally applying (much to DH’s shock) lawn feed, this time to the front…
My thoughts go to harri, Cherry, Marydoll, Auntieflo, jet, Georges, dragonfly and anyone I have not named specifically who needs a hug and comfort. Mawbe and Rosie - can you ‘see’ my wave? Keep safe and have a good day everyone.
Good morning from sunny Colchester. Warm and humid today.
I've managed to find a frock in one of the suitcases to wear to our weekly Wednesday meetup in the park!!
The carpenter has taken over the bedrooms and is singing away up there. So looking forward to having the clothes hung up.
Happy Birthday Harri and MrMonk ??
Love and hugs to all x
Good morning Mick and all. Dry here now after overnight rain.
Finally got through to the surgery for a telephone appointment, I failed yesterday after ringing for an hour and a half, when I finally got through I was told that all the appointments were taken for the day.
I hope that your daughter will be ok Susan, I'm thinking of you.
A Happy Birthday to harri and Mr Monk.
Cherry thinking of you too. Best wishes to all with illness and worry.
I love the flamingos top.
