Good Morning Everyone,
Its a blue sky but with cloud this morning in Brackley .
Went out yesterday , despite occasional rain showers, it was warmer than recent weeks .
Today, stay in , maybe a small shop , plus watch the Giro on TV unfold , even the weather conditions in Italy are faced with rain.
Mind you it feels like March and April rolled into one .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a bright and sunny South Yorkshire. It's a bit chilly though at the moment.
We had a terrific thunderstorm with hail last night around about 10.30, the lightening was spectacular and at one time the storm seemed directly overhead. All calm again now - not sure if more is forecast today, but hope not.

It's a shame some of you are having plans thwarted by this very wet weather. Let's hope things begin to improve soon.

Happy birthday harrigran ???, and to anyone else who might be celebrating today.

I've not read all the posts yet, so will settle down later to do so. Take care all.

Very "Ayrshire weather" pics, Marydoll - lovely. I have a pic of me in a paddling pool wearing a bathing costume ( bubbly nylon ) and a bathing cap ! There were about three inches of water ! My mum and aunties were sitting on a seat wearing coats and - wait for it - hats !
Happy birthday Harrigran - I'm a Gemini May 26th.

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where once more we have rain.

I went into to the ‘hobby’ room yesterday to look for a book, came across a box of framed photos and decided to put some of them up on the stairwell. A few of the wooden frames were looking rather dull so I dug out paints and brushes and gave them a makeover. One thing led to another, the end result being a beautifully tidy room with everything back in its rightful place and several bags ready for the charity shop. Trying to gear myself up to tackle the garage next.

Going to M&S today for some easy, snacky food. Last week I cooked and baked so much and now I can’t be bothered.

Hope your DD is okay Susan.
Happy birthday to Harri and MrMonk.
Enjoy your lunch out with your friends Still.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day.

Greyduster Wed 12-May-21 08:33:11

Happy Birthday Harri - have a lovely day!

Alygran Wed 12-May-21 08:29:42

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Sunny again this morning but thunder woke me in the night.
I was shocked to hear about the little boy in Blackpool. My DGS was at his training at the same time near Manchester. Certainly brings it home.
Quiet day yesterday. I finished my book ‘Beneath a Scarlet Sky’ about Italy in WW2 and based on a true life story.
Off to town today to wander round the market.
Happy birthday Harri and Mr Monk.
Hope your daughter is ok Susan.
Dragonfly fingers crossed for your hospital visit.
Have a good day everyone. Stay safe.

Marydoll Wed 12-May-21 08:28:36

Good morning all from a cloudy and wet Glasgow, only 8°C. I plan to do very little today, apart from transplant my chilli plants into bigger pots and plant some late onions in the now delivered missing veg bags

Susan, I echo what others say. My friend is a receptionist in a village surgery and he told me that patients often phone 111, when they can't get an appointment. The 111 staff then phone the surgery if an appointment is needed. I hope things are not as bad as you fear. ?
Dragonfly and Grandmajet, wishing today is not to stressful for you today and all goes well. flowers. Fingers crossed, Cherry has a restful night.

To all the May birthday people, (I too am in the club) have a great day! ??? Lots of May birthdays on here has me wondering why so many have a birthday in May.

I had the loveliest day yesterday on my day out. The weather was cool and the sea very grey and choppy, so Prestwick was very quiet, which suited me to a T! DH and I wandered round some of the side streets looking at the many quirky, red sandstone houses, reminiscing about when we sold our house in Troon and were looking for a larger house in Prestwick. The day we sold our Troon abode, DH was promoted and we ended up moving back to Glasgow, as the travelling had been the reason we moved to Ayrshire in the first place. I managed more steps yesterday, albeit at a baby snail's pace, ??????, than I have walked in over a year. Of course I'm paying the price for it today!!! ?

The Ebay (and charity shop) queen was pretty miffed when I informed her that there were at least six, quality charity shops there. I wisely gave up after the second one, when I saw poor DH, standing impatiently outside. ?

The icing on the cake was my visit to favourite boutique. Their website hadn't done justice to their huge stock. I was so excited, when I saw that much of the stock was the Made in Italy label. Who needs to go to Rome? ? I was seduced by the ice cream colours, hinting at the summer ahead. ( Well perhaps not in Glasgow ☔??)

As I have signed up for their rewards scheme, it seems I had stars accrued, but didn't know how to redeem them.
The icing on the cake was buying a beautiful lilac tunic, with a loose thread on the hem, reduced from £50 to £10. I got it for nothing, using the stars. I practically danced out of the shop! Well, perhaps that's a slight over exaggeration! ?

Arriving home on a high, I found someone blush hadn't shut the freezer door properly. Instead of settling down with a cuppa and a bar of Galaxy, followed by a snooze, I had to cook hundreds of defrosted sausages and replace dinner with an expensive fish pie, containing defrosted salmon, scallops and King prawns! ?
Is it any wonder, I fell asleep in the bath? I was totally exhausted.
Not surprisingly, I will be taking it easy today, but my spirits are high, so it was worth it all.

Wishing you all the best day possible. I'm off to read the posts properly.

Happy birthday harrigran, hope it’s a good one. Birthday wishes also to mr monk. Lots of determined Taureans about. Determined is so much better than the usual stubborn label grin.

Anniebach Wed 12-May-21 08:24:47

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Urmstongran Wed 12-May-21 08:24:03

Ooh yes thank you for asking Cherry I did indeed. I chose homemade fish cakes with spring onions, salad (get me) and a half bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. It was lovely to see 4 of my book clubbers and not talk about books - just chat about ourselves. It deepens friendships. Actually I posted that in soops last night.

Good morning from a bright, sunny North Hampshire. I’m a regular reader but sporadic poster, and really enjoy all the daily news. I can feel your worry Susan. Please follow the advice to phone 111, the constant worry must be awful.

I kept thinking about Marydoll yesterday. I so hope the day went well after waiting so long.

I really couldn’t put off getting another car, as my much loved W reg is too low for me to comfortably get in and out of. After what seems like months of research and sorting out finances, finally the decision is made. What a relief! Why are these decisions so much harder the older we get?

I’m ambling with a friend this morning. We always take a flask and hope to find a convenient perch. Hopefully it will stay as nice as it is now

Wishing everyone as best a day as possible ???

brook2704 Wed 12-May-21 08:13:45

Also Mrmonk - enjoy your day today!

CherryCezzy Wed 12-May-21 08:12:41

Good morning everyone from sunshiny Gower.

We should have a kitchen floor by the end of today, yay ?. It's really coming together now. I can't wait until we can get end there now and cook a decent meal! Won't tell you about yesterday's, yuk ?.

Oh Susan I hope your daughter isn't as unwell as she feels at the moment. I also hope she does manage to get a Dr's appointment, insistence is key x
Hope all goes well for you today grandmajet, I will be thinking of you.

Urmstongran I hope you enjoyed your outing yesterday as you haven't even mentioned it . I hope that Marydoll enjoyed her trip to see the sea and is fairing well today.
Love the top grandMattie ?
Happy birthday harrigran, I hope you have a pleasant day ? ?
Happy birthday to your DH monk ?

Hope Wednesday is kind to everyone ❤️

Gingster Wed 12-May-21 08:10:51

Good morning all from a sunshiny Essex.
Yesterday I changed the bedding, put the sheets etc on the line and 10 minutes later it rained. Brought it all in and the sun came out for the rest of the day. ?.

DH went for his long awaited hearing test and was back with hearing aids in and a bounce in his step. All on the NHS. ?

Diabetes nurse was supposed to phone at 8.20. No call . Can’t get through on the phone so he went to the surgery and asked what had happened. No record of any call on the system ?. Just as I thought things were getting better.

Today we are going for lunch at our old friends. DH was at school with the husband and he has Parkinson’s. The wife has had hip replacements but still walks very badly, so they are a poor ‘old’ couple really. It will be lovely to have a catch-up with them. They live in Benfleet, GG, so we won’t be far from you. ?.

I hope your DD is ok Susan . I know that feeling of dread ?.

Have a gentle, stress free day everyone. ?

Grandmajean Wed 12-May-21 08:07:50

Good morning from Cheshire. Sunny but , according to "Mr. Doom and Gloom" it will rain later. Suspect he just doesn't fancy cutting the grass. Have only skimmed posts but hope you get better news from your daughter Susan and things are not as bad as first seem. Pleased that your husband had a "normal" meal , Harrigran - little things make such a difference. Will come back and read remaining posts at my leisure. Have the best day possible.

Urmstongran Wed 12-May-21 08:07:21

A double bubble of birthdays today! Many happy returns of the day to you harrigran and also to mr.monk. Lots of Taureans on this thread. I remember reading years ago that money is very important to them. Not in an avaricious way but for the security a bob or two behind them helps their well being. Like most of us I suppose, just more so for Taureans.

amselerin Wed 12-May-21 08:01:19

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy, rainy Lueneburg.
I am going into town today , taking my little sausage dog, to have my hearing aid checked. With glasses, mask and hearing aid it is almost impossible. I have to be careful that the hearing aid does not fly off when I take the mask of. Oh, Urms you are up early. I shall hopefully be on a Liverpool train soon. It stops right in the middle of Southport. I have never been to Liverpool. I am getting rather excited.
I think that I can sit outside and have a coffee in town. The rules have been slightly relaxed. The shops are open but one has to give ones name and phone number. It is market day as well. At least that is what I think.
Have a good day all and I hope that all who are ill will be better soon

Stilllearning Wed 12-May-21 08:00:44

Good morning from a grey wet S Lanarkshire. Cannot dim my spirits though, I am going out for lunch with friends! First visit to an indoor cafe for 16 months. Nothing fancy but such a feeling of occasion.

Also garage successfully dismantled by very nice and efficient young men. One more load to be taken away this morning and that will be that. It is such a relief and the men dealt politely with my difficult neighbour. So relieved.

Hope your hospital appointment goes smoothly grandmajet.

Wishing everyone a good day??

NannyJan53 Wed 12-May-21 08:00:12

Good morning from a bright Black Country.

I am off to the hairdresser this morning! First time since January 2020! I did warn him to has grown quite long. Beforehand I am popping in to visit my ex -Manager who was made redundant a year after I retired . She is only 60 but has no intention of going back to work. Luckily she has an outside area under cover, and she says she will have blankets on standby. I think from next Monday up to 6 people can visit in homes?

Then pop into Mums for lunch and a walk.

We had that hailstorm here Ashcombe around 3pm. My friend and I had just decided not to meet up for a walk, when the heavens opened!

Sorry to hear about your DD Susan I hope she can have a doctors appointment as soon as possible.

Happy Birthday harrigran cupcake

Wishing you all a lovely day

Jaxjacky Wed 12-May-21 07:59:33

Happy Birthday harri ??? and Mr monk.

Greyduster Wed 12-May-21 07:58:08

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny but breezy South Yorkshire. Another very wet afternoon yesterday followed by the mother and father of a thunderstorm in the late evening which seemed to be going on right over us. I’m not afraid of lightning but it was quite scary.
Nothing much planned today. DH has a phone catch up with the GP sometime this afternoon, so we have to be around for that. Susan I’m sorry to hear your daughter is not well. A worry for you?.
Have the best day you can folks - preferably a dry one!

ginny Wed 12-May-21 07:57:15

Good morning from N.Bucks where it is dull but dry.
We are meeting Dd3, SIL and baby Charlie for lunch locally today. Will be odd to see them without our other DGS who will be at school.
Hope you all find a ?today.

dragonfly46 Wed 12-May-21 07:57:03

Happy Birthday Harri.

BlueSapphire Wed 12-May-21 07:56:23

Good morning from a bright Northampton, but showers forecast for later on, like yesterday, which meant I didn't get to my health walk. Just half an hour before we were due to go we had a terrific thunderstorm, so I called my friend to say I wouldn't be going. Typically the sun came out a bit later and it was beautiful. Hoping to try again another day.

No plans for today except finish the Sainsbury's order for tomorrow, and perhaps take the Shark upstairs to do the bedrooms. This afternoon I will attempt to sew up the wrap/poncho thingy I have just finished knitting. I started on a new light summer top last night in a lovely peachy/orange colour. And have just seen a lovely pattern for another poncho, so I may download the pattern and order yet more wool......

Hope things turn out well today for those with worries.

monk08 Wed 12-May-21 07:46:08

grannysyb Wed 12-May-21 07:42:32

It's bright and sunny here in Teddington, I think DH will want to go to the allotment as he needs to do some bee keeping, and I need to plant some beans. Trouble is I am meeting my friend at 12 for our usual Wednesday walk, so not much time! However forecast looks OK for this afternoon, so we could go then. I think we could all do with some better weather, those hailstones looked scary if you were out in them!
