Good Morning Everyone,
Its cloudy and its been raining as well here in Brackley .
Yesterdays , trip out was not to bad , and being able to sit inside and have a coffee plus , was a bonus.
The only downside there seem to be fewer people about , or was it the time of the week , yet places like Bicester retail Village seem to be getting the numbers by car, rail and bus .
Today, small shop, and then watch an interesting stage to start week 2 of the Giro , as it it contains 4 gravel sections .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a grey E Kent. Sunshine ad showers again today.
Taking my friend in the nursing home out for coffee today. First time she’s been out since lockdown in March 2020.
Not a lot else - sewing, possibly making a Branson type chutney.
Hope you all have a good day ????☀️?

Ashcombe Wed 19-May-21 06:39:54

Good morning all from my DD2’s home in Crewe, where it is bright and sunny!

An epic journey yesterday with a cloudburst on the M5 in Devon which nearly halted the traffic! It’s more than three years since I’ve driven here as I usually travel by rail and I left the M6 one junction too soon. I blame the road works, narrow lanes and trying to maintain an average speed of 60 mph! My trusty phone soon had me on track so I was ready for a brief stop at ghastly Keele Services before leaving at the correct junction.

What a welcome! My first hugs since bidding DH farewell in October! Under supervision, my eight year old DGD cooked our dinner, a tasty baked pasta with garlic bread and pizza.

Today I’m celebrating being 70+1 by visiting Trentham Gardens with DD2. She is using one of her permitted days off (a school that cares for its staff!) to spend the day with me as we couldn’t celebrate last year.

Hope everyone is well and has some sunshine in their lives, in every respect! ☀️

Top of the Morning Mick’n’Mattie and everyone to come on a beautiful Wednesday morning here in ??.

Deep blue, cloudless skies and sunshine and lots of sneezing due to all the Jasmine flowers outside my windows have woken me too early, but I shall move into the day slowly and enjoy a peaceful, outdoor breakfast.

We’ll wander into the village later to see what restaurants and cafés have done to welcome us back to outside terraces. It’ll be good to glance at the menus again and maybe plan our first lunch out since forever!

Appalled at your hospital story yesterday, Borrheid and sincerely hope that Mr B is slowly improving day on day and he now has an uneventful recovery!

Enjoy your Wednesdays, all. Wet or dry, windy or sunny take some time just for you and make sure you look forward to better things now. Take care !

Good morning from a sunny and bright NE.
Several deliveries yesterday which kept me busy, cupboards are well stocked now.
Sister will call today with a lamb dish she has prepared for dinner, a great help as it means I can get on with other housework.
Happy Birthday Ashcombe, enjoy your day out.

Scentia Wed 19-May-21 06:51:10

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where the sun has got it’s hat well and truly on☀️ Wonder how long it will last.
Off to collect DGS in a while as we are off swimming and then out to lunch. I looked at the menu and they don’t have children type food so I think I will get him crab cakes as he loves a fish cake from the chippy!!
DFiL has his assessment for his care needs this morning so hopefully that goes ok as his money is quickly running out.
I am so looking forward to seeing my new DGD this morning I will stay for a coffee and a cuddle before DGS and I head out on our date?
I do hope everyone has a good day and sees a little ☀️

Grandmafrench Wed 19-May-21 06:51:31

Wishing you the best of birthdays, Ash. ???

Scentia Wed 19-May-21 06:52:37

Oh sorry Ashcombe Happy Birthday ?

Jaxjacky Wed 19-May-21 06:57:06

Good morning all from a cloudy, damp S Hants, it is supposed to be dry most of today. Have a wonderful birthday day Ashcombe, many happy returns ???.
grandMattie enjoy your coffee and catch up.
Yesterday we briefly met my son and I had a big hug and the man sorting our garden, who’d warned of plant shortages (weather) turned up with 30 odd perennials we’ll be putting in this afternoon. Smart meter being fitted this morning, another man coming to box in some pipe work and a friend calling in for coffee. This afternoon at 4 a brief visit to DD and GC’s for more hugs, it’s all go today after months of doing ‘not much’. Meanwhile in about an hour I’m off to the farm shop/nursery to buy some veg and source a few shade loving plants, I hope.
Have a lovely day today those who can, thoughts with those who are struggling ?

Beechnut Wed 19-May-21 06:58:34

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It is bright and sunny so far......

Happy Birthday Ashcombe ???I hope you have a lovely day.

I know it might invite more rain but I’ll be cleaning the inside of the front windows today. I’ve looked at the sucker marks for too long from where I’ve hung things up at the window. I’m hoping my parcel comes today.

Take care all and stay safe ?

Dwmxwg Wed 19-May-21 07:02:18

Good morning all from north Surrey. Sky looks grey through the blinds.
Ashcombe a very happy birthday, have a wonderful day with your DD and keep the hugs coming.
I have a had a very busy few days with work and childcare but today is a day off. Yippee! My hairdresser did eventually turn up on Monday and I have gone back to short short, so much easier to manage and I think suits my little face. If one of my AC ever gets married I will definitely not be wearing a hat, they look ridiculous on me.
PT at 8 followed by a half hour cycle in the gym and then DH and I are off to Savill Garden, hopefully dodging any showers. We became members of Windsor Park late last year which gives free entry and parking but this is the first time we have been able to use the garden entry.
Will be just up the road from mum and dad so will pop in to see them too.
Boys here this evening, I may go to bed at the same time as them.
Hoping all have a good day today

Good morning from an overcast Colchester. Another day of sunshine and showers forecast.
Our Wednesday meetup is back inside smile
Food shop this afternoon.

Love to all x

Sar53 Wed 19-May-21 07:05:16

Good morning from a grey and cloudy Essex by the sea. Rain is forecast for the next few days, no sign of summer yet.
I am going to stay with DD2 and two of my lovely granddaughters today and I'm very excited. I haven't seen them since August last year and in that time my daughter has been diagnosed with malignant melanoma and had a big operation. I can't wait to give her a hug. Apparently my 3 year old granddaughter said 'is it nanny on the ipad who's coming' ?
I'm so pleased you are having a lovely time with your family Ash.
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday and find a? xx

Urmstongran Wed 19-May-21 07:09:12

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have patches of blue sky and puff ball white clouds (they have a name don’t they? Cumulus?).

Happy birthday Ashcombe! I admire your bravery driving up on a motorway - I’m such a wuss, the speed and container lorries got to me years ago so I stopped putting myself through the ordeal!

We have absolutely no plans. My walking buddy is seeing her brother today and tomorrow is forecast rain so we will judge it after breakfast tomorrow.

Enjoy your grandchildren today Scentia! Hope your daughter is feeling a bit stronger. Nice for her just to have a few hours on her own with the new baby - plenty of cuddles without having ‘big brother’ feeling left out.

Ooh - here’s the 7am train squealing into the station to Liverpool Line Street amselerin! Only a few passengers alighting. The next one in 30 minutes has loads of schoolchildren. And off she goes ...
?

Hope Wednesday is good to us all. Enjoy the Giro Mick. Let’s all enjoy our freedoms as allowed but be cautious. (That’s my downgrade now from ‘keep safe’ - unless you’re in an Indian spike area such as Bolton, Glasgow etc). x

Gelisajams Wed 19-May-21 07:11:55

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where it’s still dry.
Happy birthday Ashcombe Have a lovely birthday with your daughter and enjoy Trentham Gardens.
I’m off gardening in Keswick. I’ll have to go today as rain is forecast for the foreseeable future but I don’t feel like going! It’s hard graft and I’m still aching from going to the gym the other day. I also have a headache and a sore itchy throat and ears. I think it’s an allergy reaction so I will dose up with antihistamine.
Stay safe everyone and take care ???

Ellianne Wed 19-May-21 07:14:26

Good morning.
Look at my meal cooking yesterday evening. I actually felt quite sorry for the poor sea bream. Tasted wonderful.
Enjoy your day Ashcombe and everyone else.

grandMattie Wed 19-May-21 07:15:17

Many happy returns Ash. So pleased you are able to be with your beloved AC! ???

Urmstongran Wed 19-May-21 07:16:17

And the train to Manchester Oxford Road has just pulled in amselerin! Just got up to look - nobody got off. Maybe that’s why it’s a ‘shorty’ of only 2 carriages at this time in a morning? Northern rail probably use more carriages at busier commuting times. Two people just dashing into the station down the steps. I like it when people manage to get on in time! And off it goes ...

grandmajet Wed 19-May-21 07:17:38

Good morning from Notts where it is a beautiful day, at the moment.
Today’s posts are full of hope and happy times, it is lovely to read them.
This will be my last post for a while as I’m going in for ultra radical surgery tomorrow. Gulp! Bowel ‘preparation’ to start today so I shan’t stray too far from a toilet!
Thank you all for a peek into your lives over the past couple of months, take care, and I hope to see you in a few weeks.

monk08 Wed 19-May-21 07:19:19

Good morning from a sunny Black country.
Hygienist this morning then a meal booked for later yippee no cooking or washing up?.
Happy birthday Ashcombe I love Trentham gardens it's been a while since we went, our goddaughters graduation was held there.
Sar have safe journey and enjoy your hugs with the family.
Have a good day all.

grandmajet Wed 19-May-21 07:19:35

By the way, urms, I too had to dish up at half time yesterday, being married to a Wythenshawe ‘boy’! We didn’t get the right result, did we?

GrannyGravy13 Wed 19-May-21 07:19:44

Morning Mick and all

Happy 70+1 Ascombe ??????
I do hope you enjoy your Mum & daughter day today.

Sar53 have a fabulous time with your girls lots of hugs and giggles in the coming days.

Off to the gym this morning after stripping the bed. Then this afternoon we are going for lunch once we pick up the 6yr old from school, his Mummy (DD) and The Imp are meeting us there. I do hope Imp is going to behave, he was just getting used to eating out when it all stopped due to lockdown, so he has missed out on being socialised . Might have to resort to Peppa-flipping-Pig on iPad if he is Impish

Take care and keep safe folks ?‍♀️?

Urmstongran Wed 19-May-21 07:20:59

Great looking fish Ellianne ? I love barbecuing! Can’t do it here on the balcony (not allowed) same in Malaga - so we wait in the hope of being invited to one these days!
?

Kim19 Wed 19-May-21 07:23:42

Good morning all and Happy Birthday to Ash for starters. Beautifully sunny up here in the North at the moment. Had glorious sunshine yesterday too even though the forecast was suggesting constant rain. Sometimes like it when they get it wrong!! Highlight for today will be lunch with four ex further education friends. They're educated and I'm still searching! Lovely garden Bistro is becoming the regular venue. This was discovered because of Covid restrictions. The only plus I can think of...... Hope everyone has at least something to look forward to today. Cheers!

grandMattie Wed 19-May-21 07:24:02

Oh, grandmajet, all the very best for your surgery. I hope it is successful and that you are not left in too much pain ?❤️
