Good Morning Everyone,
Its cloudy and its been raining as well here in Brackley .
Yesterdays , trip out was not to bad , and being able to sit inside and have a coffee plus , was a bonus.
The only downside there seem to be fewer people about , or was it the time of the week , yet places like Bicester retail Village seem to be getting the numbers by car, rail and bus .
Today, small shop, and then watch an interesting stage to start week 2 of the Giro , as it it contains 4 gravel sections .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick and all his followers. It’s raining in Suffolk at the moment but should dry up for an hour or two later. If it stays dry, my friend and I will visit Thornham Hall which is nearby. Walks and a nice coffee to be had there I hear.
Happy Birthday Ash and congratulations to you and to everyone else who is meeting up with family and friends for the first time.
Oo it’s stopped raining! Time together a move on.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Urmstongran Wed 19-May-21 07:29:45

Good luck Grandmajet!

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 19-May-21 07:35:45

Good morning all from sunny Harrogate
Happy birthday Ashcombe. Crewe makes me think of the station! As a child we regularly travelled by ? train from Prestwick to Llandudno and always had to change trains at Crewe.
“Oh Mr Porter what shall I do? I was on my way to Birmingham and ended up in Crewe!!”
This pm I am meeting two friends in the Valley Gardens HARROGATE, one takes COVID extremely seriously, the other refuses vaccinations. Should be interesting. Especially since I have hay fever just now!!
Have the best day you can - there will be something better round the corner!!

Beauregard Wed 19-May-21 07:36:51

Good morning everyone. Clear blue sky at the moment here in Derbyshire.

Happy birthday Ashcombe ???? A visit to Trentham Gardens sounds a lovely way to spend your birthday.

grandmajet I hope everything goes well for you tomorrow. I will be thinking of you and look forward to seeing you back here. ?

Wishing a good day to all.

NanKate Wed 19-May-21 07:39:33

Good Morning Mick and All.

A light grey day in South Bucks.

Have a great Birthday Ashcombe 70+ 1 you are a mere youngster ?

Tomorrow off for a few days holiday so we are packing all our waterproof gear as we are likely to be deluged but who cares freedom beckons.

Jaxjacky Wed 19-May-21 07:39:44

grandmajet best wishes for your surgery and a speedy, not too uncomfortable recovery ?
Urms you and the trains is like me and Flightradar24 to Mr J, ‘ that’s the Seoul to Heathrow going over’, ‘ off to Porto on their holidays just taken off’? I get withering looks from him...can’t think why...

Grammaretto Wed 19-May-21 07:40:11

Good Morning all from the Scottish Borders. A cracking day here too. May and September are the best months in Scotland before the midges come out en masse and before winter sets in grin
How wonderful Ashcombe to be with DD on your birthday despite the M6 diversion. Sorry DH wasn't with you but you can savour that promise for the next time.

I hope you have a lovely reunion with yours Sar53 smile

We are making plans here too for various visits and reunions. I should be heading to the Lake District in a couple of weeks to meet DS & co. Not seen them properly (apart from funerals) since August last year.
Today I am choosing my new specs and gardening....and feeding the neighbour's cat.

Oh Grandmajet My thoughts are with you today

kittylester Wed 19-May-21 07:41:33

Good morning all from a bright North Leicestershire.

Not a lot on the cards in the Lester household. I have to finish my Sainsbury's shop and DH has one drive to do.

Our Zoom cafe yesterday had no attendees at all so we had a good chat instead. I think offering a cafe weekly is too much really.

Wishing you well grandmajet - hopefully you will be back before very long. Happy birthday ashcombe.

Grandmadinosaur Wed 19-May-21 07:43:53

Good Morning from sunny East Yorkshire where I am enjoying a cuppa in bed ?
Today we have dgs and are off to a local beach. He will be thrilled when he arrives and we tell him.
Happy Birthday Ashcombe enjoy Trentham. I used to go there when I was small and remember one occasion when an elderly uncle sat in an Ice cream in the grass ?? how can you do that and not notice it ...
Wishing all goes well for Grandmajet ?
Hope today is good to us all

ginny Wed 19-May-21 07:46:35

Good morning from a dry but overcast N. Bucks.
Happy birthday Ashcombe and enjoy your visit. You too Scentia and Sar53
Hope all goes well for you*Grandmajet*.

Dd3 is coming over today with baby Charlie. We shall have a gentle stroll down to town and have booked lunch locally. Requested an outdoor, undercover table as we are still not keen on sitting inside. Will miss other DGS who will be at school.
Our trip to Milton Keynes was ok yesterday. Not busy but we only stayed an hour or so. Got what we needed but I really don’t enjoy shopping.
Hope everyone finds a ?today.

brook2704 Wed 19-May-21 07:47:05

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a grey cloudy start to the day
Wishing you all the very best for your surgery tomorrow grandmajet I’ll be thinking of you and looking forward to when you’re back on here with us ?
Happy Birthday Ashcombe I hope you have a fabulous day and what better than going out for the day with your DD2 - how lovely!
Dwm phew - another very busy day, I think we’ll have to rename you supergran!
I’ll be having another day pottering in the garden and waiting for a delivery of a new bed that’s due today.
I hope you have a lovely time Sar53 and you give your DD2 an extra special hug. There’s lots of good news today about families meeting up at long last which is wonderful
Thinking of those with worries and struggles, hope today is kind and take care all whatever the day brings ?

cornergran Wed 19-May-21 07:50:37

Hope all goes to plan grandmajet and you’ll be back with us soon.

Happy birthday ashcombe, enjoy every minute.

Gagagran Wed 19-May-21 07:51:07

Morning all! Late again to the thread although I was up at 6 as usual. Just got distracted!

Had my planned trip to the library yesterday and found it busier than it has been for some time. They only allow 5 people in at a time so there was a queue outside and it was 1 out, 1 in. Luckily I was second in so was able to choose my books and depart fairly quickly.

Feeling achey today and have put it down to the frequent showers we keep having. I need it warm and dry to feel comfortable in my old joints. DH has a planned bike club ride today but it is 50/50 whether it will go ahead if the rain decides to show us it's still not done with us!

Enjoy your day out Ashcombe but take your brolly! Lovely way to celebrate your birthday with your family at a beautiful venue.

Hope the day is a good one for us all. sunshine

Good morning all from a sunny, but breezy Glasgow.

Happy birthday to that intrepid traveller Ashcombe, have a lovely day with your family. ???? Your daughter is very fortunate indeed to have an understanding Head. My HT was event reluctant to give me time off for my thirteen year old niece's funeral and made me come right back, immediately after the service. ?
I have given up driving on motorways too and here there are too many of them into the bargain! My mastermind subject would be, Circuitous routes to avoid motorways. Gone are the days of arguing with DH, who was driving to England on our holidays. DH can be totally in charge of the wheel, I'm now a total wimp! ?

What a successful (and expensive) visit we had to the nursery yesterday. The family who own it have taken the opportunity during lockdown to expand into neighbouring fields. We were there for hours, strolling up and down the aisles of well cared for plants we had never heard of before. The programme, An Escape to the Country, sprang to mind. ? They did have a tiny hut, selling coffee and the beginnings of a farm shop!

We are off out on adventure to Rabbie Burns Country today, a visit to Ayr. DH worked there for many years, but I'm sure he will see lots of changes. When we lived in Troon, as a stay at home mum , with a very sickly child, I used to escape there on Saturday morning for a break while DH took on the mantle of nurse and childminder to two toddlers! ( Unless he was golfing, of course!)
This will be our last sortie out for a while, as it is now highly likely Nicola S is going to put us back into Level 3 by the end of the week. We live on the border with Glasgow City, it was inevitable the new variant would spread here.

I received a lovely , but unexpected PM yesterday, from a poster, who reads this thread and realised I had had enough of shielding and lockdown. Despite having had two vaccinations, I have been advised I'm still extremely vulnerable, so I will be curtailing my outings again. She understood exactly how I felt. Thank you for your thoughtfulness. ?

Hoping Mr Borrheid is feeling a little better and Nurse AJ , his beloved spouse, has lots of patience! If he is anything like my DH, she will need it. ?
Wishing you all a pleasant day and birthday wishes to anyone who is celebrating today.
Hoping to hear Cherry and Auntieflo have had a restful night and wondering how Susan is.

Marydoll Wed 19-May-21 07:58:14

Sending my best wishes to Grandmajet , a brave lady, for tomorrow. ?

Gelisajams Wed 19-May-21 07:59:35

Hope all goes well tomorrow Grandmajet and you have a speedy recovery. ?

amselerin Wed 19-May-21 08:07:23

Good morning Mick and all from sunny but chilly Lueneburg. First of all: Happy Birthday Ashcombe and best wishes to grandmajet. Reading this post I had to chuckle again, the trains seem to be very punctual in Britain now. Urms I am mostly interested in the trains going through Southport to Liverpool. It seems you all have a lot more freedom now. We have to do a negative test before we can go and have a coffee (outside)-. They have lots of testing points in the town. But I hardly go into town now.
Today my DIL is coming with my granddaughter. I am going to enjoy that Then more gardening work - my garden is rather large. My house looks like a tip - all things waiting to be boxed and I am a rather lazy gran. A cup of tea is often way laying me. Have a good day all.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 19-May-21 08:09:58

grandmajet hoping your surgery goes well and you are back with us soon, we shall be thinking of you ????

dragonfly46 Wed 19-May-21 08:11:42

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

Not much planned as still achy from Pilates yesterday. Ocado delivery later then if it stays dry a little gardening.

Happy Birthday Ashcombe I like it at Trentham. Enjoy your visit Sar it will be quite emotional.
We will be thinking of you tomorrow Grandmajet I hope it all goes well and we will look forward to hearing from you.

Have a good day everyone!

Sar53 Wed 19-May-21 08:12:25

Happy birthday Ash and warmest wishes to Grandmajet for tomorrow xxx

Gingster Wed 19-May-21 08:14:30

Good morning all and I hope it stays dry this morning as I’m dog walking with my old neighbour/friend. Yesterday turned out fine until a shower late afternoon. These forecasts are all over the place and are interfering with my social life. ?. Keep altering days and times which would have been ok. ?.

This evening I’m going to a local pub for a meal with my lovely girl, who I looked after when her mother died. She was 6 and her brothers were 8 and 11. I was with them for 10 years. The poor girl was due to marry last May and then October and then December. It never happened! She is now pregnant and getting married next week. ?. Such excitement!

Ashcombe have a lovely 70 +1. With your family.??. It’s my old school friends 70+1 today too and mine coming up in July. No celebrations last year so I’m hoping we can all get together this summer.

grandmajet all good wishes to you. I know we’ll all be thinking of you. ? ?

Sar enjoy your time with your family. I know you’ve been so looking forward to seeing them, especially with your DD having her Op. ?

Had a lovely walk yesterday in the bluebell woods. They were prolific and still looking fresh. I went with DH and little pooch. (Pic) ?

Have a lovely day Scentia. I think you are very brave taking your little GS to a posh restaurant for lunch. ?. Oh my goodness , Maccy D was the only place I used to take any of my GC. ?. Good luck and let us know how it goes. ?

Wishing you all a good day, whatever it brings ?

Nightsky2 Wed 19-May-21 08:16:23

Good morning from a lovely bright and sunny Bristol for now anyway but more rain forecast for later. Going to the shops with best friend today. I need her to help me choose my wedding outfit for July wedding. Coffee and cake before we head back home.
