Good Morning Everyone,
Its cloudy and its been raining as well here in Brackley .
Yesterdays , trip out was not to bad , and being able to sit inside and have a coffee plus , was a bonus.
The only downside there seem to be fewer people about , or was it the time of the week , yet places like Bicester retail Village seem to be getting the numbers by car, rail and bus .
Today, small shop, and then watch an interesting stage to start week 2 of the Giro , as it it contains 4 gravel sections .
Take Care,
Mick

Good Morning to you all from a bright & dry Cambs., I've had enough of this unsettled weather now.

Happy Birthday to Ashcombe, enjoy your time with your family. cupcake wine.

Warm thoughts to you all, especially those with added problems, flowers.

Grandmafrench thank you for your good wishes. The district nurse may take the drain out today, which ,I’m sure will improve things no end.

Borrheid55 Wed 19-May-21 10:58:20

Grandmajet good luck ! I’ve done ‘bowel prep’ for colonoscopy twice. It’s not pleasant but necessary. Hope your surgery goes well.

Borrheid55 Wed 19-May-21 11:06:04

Marydoll thank you for your kind wishes. MrB now on antibiotics for wound infection at the drain site. We are waiting for the nurse to arrive - hopefully she will remove it today. As to my patience, I just keep thinking ‘ in sickness and in health’ ! As Julian of Norwich said “ And this too shall pass, and all manner of things will be well” . Maybe , DH will appreciate me more after this …..and maybe not!

Borrheid55 Wed 19-May-21 11:08:14

Marydoll you might recognise the model and where it was taken! Maybe 1965ish?

Good Morning from rural France. It is likely to rain on and off today. Yesterday it held off until late evening, meaning I was able to push the mower round and trim the paddock and the lawn. There is at least as much still to do. Sigh.

Lovely to see so many good wishes for DW Ashcombe's birthday today. Thanks to her daughter we had a Zoom at 08.00 BST, when I was able to join the family in watching her open her cards and pressies. That done, the bambini were whisked off to school, while A and I chatted for our usual something-over-an-hour.

Those who are impressed at A's DD2's headmaster's flexibility should be reassured to know that the girl is very much the fulcrum of the school, and as such her boss knows when he's onto a good thing. She has energy levels and enthusiasm to die for! The employing academy has its eye on her for all the best reasons, too.

I hope those who ail can feel improvement today, and those seeing family and friends for the first time in ages can bask in the joy of re-acquaintance.

Good morning everyone from a deep blue skied Algarve.
Happy Birthday to Ashcombe enjoy your time with your daughter. Did I see that it is Maywalk’s birthday as well? I think that you are a bit more than 70+1 Maywalk? Have a lovely day.
Best wishes to grandmajet we will all be thinking of you.

The weather is lovely at the moment, although the temperature has risen to 30° for the last couple of days, it is still early enough in the year for the air to be fresh and pleasant and the countryside is still green. It’s supposed to get even hotter today so it’s a good job we have a quiet day planned. Yesterday we had to go to a very large do it yourself/building supplies/garden centre and I think I became dehydrated driving over there. We normally have water in the car as soon as the warm weather arrives but haven’t got organised yet. Anyway I had to go and find a chair by the tills while DH wandered around looking for glue (?) and what felt like hours later, having managed to leave the store, go down to the car park and return DH turned up. I had visions of me collapsing in a heap and them having to put a tannoy call out for him. At least we can have a quiet day today as our occasional cleaner worked her magic yesterday.

Dogsmakemesmile I was a bigger wuss than anybody when I had to get my plaster off my leg , OH had to come in and hold me down , I was convinced the leg was going to be cut ! No moon boots in those days , I had to use crutches and keep my foot off the ground
Your loss of confidence is understandable , but you will soon be up and back to strength
Wishing you well xxxx

Good morning from West Sussex. It was cloudy earlier but now blue sky with little fluffy clouds sailing by with considerable speed for a cloud.

Happy Birthday Ashcombe ????
And also Maywalk ???

I am aching in all the usual places after a long session weeding at the allotment. I always have to ‘feel the soil’ so can’t resist crushing lumps of earth with my hands instead of raking. Today I can barely hold my coffee mug ?

DH has signed up for a very intellectual sounding webinar from his old university - it is on ‘truth and post truth’. I must try to get my brain in gear to hear about it afterwards ?

Very best wishes Grandmajet. Will be thinking of you

Grandmafrench thank you for your good wishes. The district nurse may take the drain out today, which ,I’m sure will improve things no end.

I hope Mr B feels better soon.

Litterpicker Wed 19-May-21 12:25:42

Borrheid thank you for the clematis name - I see, being a montana it can grow quite tall. You were lucky to get one from your neighbour - it is quite expensive on the RHS site ?

I hope your DH feels better with his drain out. It’s strange that we are back to nursing at home which was common in our parents/grandparents day. My mother had certificates to show her successful completion of the Red Cross Home Nursing courses. When I had my gallbladder out in late 1980s I was in hospital for 10 days!
I’m sure your DH will appreciate your ministrations but maybe don’t expect him to show it at the moment grin.

Love the photo - I expect Marydoll will tell us exactly where it is! You are well wrapped up - it must have been July ?

Marydoll Wed 19-May-21 12:26:00

Borrheid Saltcoats? Very posh for Saltcoats!

We were going for chips and ended up in an Italian restaurant, we haven't been in for twenty years.

Marydoll photo was taken just in front of Troon town hall. Over my shoulder is the open air swimming pool now sadly gone. The houses are on Portland Terrace and Titchfield Road. I spent every Fri-Sun ( and school holidays ) at my aunt and uncles in Union Street until I was 15.

Marydoll Wed 19-May-21 14:08:51

How could I not recognise it? I lived there!!!? No wonder you were dressed up!
