Yet another *Soops* kitchen for all us like minded people

I found the key that soop left.
I must complain that getting down to retrieve keys then getting up again is very tricky! Please leave them in a more accessible place in future.
Anyway here’s a bottle of Dom Perignon and a large iced bowl of caviar to open the kitchen!
( we’re going posh this time!

Your news about the Panaches is very upsetting Doodle, a half hour per week for visiting? That is so cruel. Poor Panache must be so angry and devastated. Those poor souls have had to fight every step of the way for so long now. If you are reading this Panache, you and your DH are always in my thoughts and prayers ?
A very warm afternoon here, Sam is on his cool pad in the kitchen, we took him for a walk earlier when it was cooler. Too hot to do anything, so I'm not. Mr Lins has mowed the lawns and prepped the BBQ for later, he's a keeper. Our little SEASIDE town is packed, it was nice to see the RNLI crew back on their Sunday morning training.
Enjoy your afternoon everyone.

Doodle Sun 13-Jun-21 14:43:18

ixion I am not sure. Panache is not up to posting much but her anguish comes over loud and clear. I think, from her previous message she said MrP was getting a cancer bed with one to one care in a different hospital. I had hoped visiting would be more flexible not less. ?

Puzzler61 Sun 13-Jun-21 14:42:44

I hope Panache will appeal that meagre visiting allowance - it can’t be right? I thought visiting restrictions were more generous now?
Thank you for bringing the news to us Doodle.
We are all thinking of that poor couple.

ixion Sun 13-Jun-21 14:39:50

Whatever sort of hospital is this doodle?
Are they planning to implement some sort of aggressive intervention care planning?
(Sorry, not prying, just incredulous?)

Grandmabatty Sun 13-Jun-21 14:36:43

Doodle that is indeed upsetting. Poor Panache. It seems heartless.

Doodle Sun 13-Jun-21 14:27:50

Dear kitcheners, I have heard such upsetting news from Panache. I had to read it several time to make sure I hadn’t made a mistake. MrP has been transferred to the new hospital but they have informed Panache they have a strict visiting policy of half an hour a week.
I am so angry and upset for them. Poor Panache is beside herself and so upset. At this stage of MrP’s life you would think they would be more accommodating.

Puzzler61 Sun 13-Jun-21 13:17:34

There isn’t any housework being done or weeds being pulled here today Charleygirl.
There will be a Tennis final in Paris beginning soon and England playing a football match. The only decision is which one to watch and which to record!
? or ⚽️
Grandmabatty please don’t spend another minute thinking about rude relatives - don’t give them the satisfaction.

Grandmabatty Sun 13-Jun-21 13:03:18

I'm just back from the first family breakfast in literally months. It was lovely and some things don't change. Mum was rude about my paintings and my brother was just rude ?. Fortunately none of us bother. Although it was cloudy earlier,it is now bright and sunny and very warm. I've changed into shorts - I wouldn't inflict those legs on the public- and I'm going out to the garden. See you all later.

Charleygirl5 Sun 13-Jun-21 10:39:34

Another scorcher here today- I am washing for the county as usual. Next time maybe I should buy an industrial machine. At least the heating has not been switched on for at least a week.

I bought Michael Connolly's latest book and naturally could not put it down when it was the time last night to attempt sleeping. It is really good-my guilty pleasure is reading a good book in bed at night.

Please forget houswork and gardening- dust and weeds will still be here next week- the sun may not.

Doodle Sun 13-Jun-21 10:21:03

dragonfly yes our soop can be a wild thing ?
grandmabatty you were a delight to have in the Argy. Hope you join us again (good behaviour is barred ?)
Everyone is welcome in the Argy (don’t try and make sense of it, we make it up as we go along ?)

It’s certainly going to be a hot one here today. I tend to wilt a bit in the sunshine. Hope soop is back with us soon.
Have a good day all.

Nannytopsy Sun 13-Jun-21 10:17:32

Good morning everyone! Is it tomorrow that soop gets the engineer‘s visit? I do hope they get this sorted more quickly this time.
We had the smalls from Friday tea until yesterday lunchtime which was fun, then I fell asleep in front of the rugby. Luckily I woke up in time for a very exciting second half!
I have a cucumber on one of the plants! It’s the first time we have grown them so it’s all very exciting. I’m hoping to do some weeding at the front, before the sun gets round there. Better get a move on then!

Yiayia4 Sun 13-Jun-21 09:48:37

dragonfly46 Sun 13-Jun-21 09:25:50

I once spent an evening in the Argy - took me a week to recover! Was shocked to see soop dancing on tables!

Grandmabatty Sun 13-Jun-21 09:13:43

It was my first time in the Argy and I disgraced myself. I'll behave in future. Grandmajet I hope you are getting better every day. ?
Grandmafrench I find I'm scratching in sympathy. I hope last night was a more comfortable one for you. I'm off for a family breakfast now. Have a nice day all.

ixion Sun 13-Jun-21 09:11:43

Hi Urms?

You and brook certainly provided fun and laughter last night in the ‘Argy’ - I really enjoyed myself and such a nice thought dedicating the evening to grandmajet. x

We 'sing' (we do our best, that is!) for jet every Friday night in the Bar.
When she announced her absence in advance of her "Round the World" cruise, I told her that whenever she could, she should listen out for us all every Friday evening blasting out our love and best wishes.
Our repertoire has been varied, off key, but from the heart!
Just hope she is receiving us loud and clear?

muse Sat 12-Jun-21 23:02:19

Late visit before bed. Just sipping a small spiced rum. Spent rather a long time composing a post for a Cornish thread.

Amazing weather and and a surprising day. The daughter of mrM's family friends, text to say she was passing and could she and partner call to see us. They came with a lovely picnic / late afternoon tea. My strawberry jam and freshly picked strawbs came out as she'd bought scones and clotted cream. Mya was really giddy and loved all the attention.

Tomorrow's a scorcher so I'm glad a thoroughly watered the raised beds this morning.

Urm Think you missed the horlicks cocktail Colin mixed last night in the "Argy".

Grandmafrench. Sorry to read the discomfort is still there. Car is now kitted out with rubber mats throughout. Both my feet and Mya's have a tendency to become clarty as us Derbyshire folks say. I wish there was a tablet I could take like Mya does. I have a tick to be removed in a mo! They just drop off her. mrM has to get his twizzler stick out on me.

Have a safe Sunday in the sun everyone.

Hello Kitchen Peoples

Such a lot going on here that soop - should she ever manage to return( since she now must make her own arrangements for any kind of internet service!!!!!!!!!!!?) - stands not a great chance of catching up with all her kitchen mates any time soon. Hope you're AOK, dear lady. We can hear the bad language from here!

Blossoming what ARE you trying to do? I haven't seen anything quite so adorable as those baby Donks in years. Actually I've surprised myself that I have never seen a donkey that young, so a first for me.

You're far too old to own a donkey, Maw. I know. Rude or what? That was what the lady baker in our village said to me once - years ago - when I told her that a good friend wanted me to have one of her young donkeys because she knew how much I love donkeys and we had acres of room.

It seems that they do live a very long time and, of course, if a donkey is going to live 40 years or maybe more, one needs to have a careful think about what might happen if the donkey ends up an orphan !! ?. But she never phrased it like that, or explained. I possibly held a bit of a grudge after that rudeness, but that's French countryfolk for you. Calling a spade a shovel is what they love to do.

There's just nothing like a long day with little people, a list of things to buy, a long drive and possibly crowds, busy roads and then coming home with nothing - other than irritated small people, is there? Never mind. Coming home to your DH and all the stuff he had achieved in your absence - how lovely is that!

You're right, Urms it does feel a lot hotter in the Northern Hemisphere when it's sunny. I always feel it's because of humidity in the UK. Always flattens me when it's hot, whereas in dry heat I feel much better. But it's actually something to do with the land mass, I think. I need to look it up rather than waffle about it.

Because I am covered in insect bites due to late afternoon and evening gardening when it was cooler a couple of days ago, I have been slow (due to antihistamine) and very uncomfortable today. Only highlight being loads of wonderful suggestions (all polite) from Grans aiming to help. If there was just something - one pill, or some drops that one could use to banish all blood-sucking irritants, I'd be so pleased. Seems I attract all sorts of problems like that. My DH has a scalp covered in blisters from the same tiny b*@!*rd@ that attacked me. So, sadly, apart from sitting in the pool to cool off and take the heat out of my allergic reaction, I have achieved very little today.

Lovely to read of all the bizzyness, though. Lovely too to hear that you're o.k. and totally ambulant again, Ann. Wow was that a struggle for you, but you've done it and come out the other side. I'm lost in admiration of your determination and grit.

Maybe Doodle will have news of the Panaches. A bit of good. news for a change. Hi to you, Doodledear and also to Izabella.

So, the Village Idiot is still at large and attending Pilates sessions then, Muse. You've only got yourself to blame, though : I suppose you're still tall with pretty hair, so she's going to take a time to get over dealing with all of that, isn't she? Poor soul. Hope the car is giving you pleasure and Mya is well. I've had lots of trouble with Ludo's tum again. Worked out that it's no longer an infection - he's taken to eating potting compost out of some of my bigger pots! I was horrified and the Vet has confirmed that this would probably give him a constantly upset tum, so we must stop it. As soon as the company is open on Monday we shall go and pick up a few kilos of pebbles to cover all the spare soil in the pots. Not only will that be safer for him, it'll look better and stop water splashing everywhere when they are watered. The bad dog has almost done us a favour then!!!

Well, I'm off to slather my limbs in a paste of bicarb and very cold water in the hope that I will get to bed and sleep without wanting to scratch like a farmyard dog half the night.

Sleep well all you lovely Grans. All and any I've forgotten, take care of yourselves. I've read all the posts but not made any notes - and it's a lot of posts to read and remember this time of an evening.

Come back soon, please. Nighty night, sweet dreams. ?

Urmstongran Sat 12-Jun-21 21:42:42

‘Evening All’.

Another gorgeous day. I could get used to this. I agree Jax I think the sun in the northern hemisphere is more fierce. I’m sure I read an article about this years ago.

We saw the smalls. Himself watched a football match where the boy wonder scored 2 goals in a friendly against a local team. Then after lunch they went on a bike ride. Later, around 4pm we joined them for cocktails at the Trafford Centre. The smalls had been to the ‘Build a Bear’ store. That’s been going years since the Trafford Centre opened. I remember taking a 9 year old excited boy who is the son of a dear friend - and he’s mid 20s now with a mortgage and a girlfriend. Gosh, I feel old.

We got home and went into our favourite bar downstairs 2 blocks along. Goodness, it was rocking! Reminded me (not quite ha!) of the ‘Argy’ last night! Great atmosphere because of the Euro match being screened and the couple who own it are such nice people. They engage with their customers, not only making us all feel very welcome in there but also looking out for anyone on their own, offering inclusivity and friendly banter. No wonder it was rammed! We left at 8:30pm to come home to eat. Sensible decision.

Hope tonight is peaceful for us all.

I am going to catch up on all the posts and sip a glass of wine while I wait for my food.Hopefully I can stay awake!
