She didn't call Diana evil. She said her words were evil. The difference? I don't know Annie either but when speaking of Diana there is just something not nice about it. Sorry Anniebach but that's how I feel.

Anniebach Tue 29-Jun-21 10:58:05

nadateturbe no apology needed. You don’t like anything ‘not
nice’ said about Diana, many share your views.

So saying anything ‘not nice’ about the rest of the royal family
is acceptable but not of Diana.

Alegrias1 Tue 29-Jun-21 10:59:35

I called her a silly girl yesterday. Am I absolved of all Diana devotedness?

FannyCornforth Tue 29-Jun-21 11:08:30

Alegrias I do all of the absolving around here:
I'll give the matter some thought...

Anniebach Tue 29-Jun-21 11:21:00

The car sold for £47,000

Its funny how a lot of people jump to Dianas defence when to be honest shes been gone for quite awhile and unless you moved in her circles and was a friend of hers and knew her we only have what was reported at the time and we cant say if everything was true about how she lived what she felt who did the dirty on her because we will never know for sure.
Its all old news anyway.

Elegran Tue 29-Jun-21 12:04:59

It is time she was allowed to rest in peace, without being forced into the mould of either a saint or a sinner. She was a human being, with her own set of good and bad characteristics. If Harry could finally bury her in his mind he could really begin to live his own life, but she is continually being held up to public gaze as an icon of martyed perfection in a wicked world,. Not a healthy or realistic image for a son.

I wish I lived the authentic life (of leisure) I was born to live...
grin

NotSpaghetti Tue 29-Jun-21 12:18:23

I've done a lot of volunteering over the years which was authentic - but most of us have to hold "body and soul" together as well!

Deliberate misinterpretation. I for example have said she was troubled and made mistakes but find the tone of some of the posts way over the top in their condemnation of Diana.
Alegrias also called her a silly girl but pointed out the good she had done. Balance.

maddyone Tue 29-Jun-21 12:29:19

As I said yesterday, Diana was flawed, imperfect. Just like the rest of us.

Anniebach Tue 29-Jun-21 12:35:50

Yes she should be allowed to rest in peace but any mention of
Camilla becoming Queen Consort and we hear ‘not after what
she did to Diana’

It’s the Diana fans who can’t let her rest in peace, and Harry

Lucca Tue 29-Jun-21 12:38:53

“ but any mention of
Camilla becoming Queen Consort and we hear ‘not after what
she did to Diana’”. Not from me you don’t. And I’m not a”Diana fan”. I just don’t see why Camilla needs to be queen consort, Philip wasn’t king consort. Bit of a carry on considering we are 2021.

Anniebach Tue 29-Jun-21 12:44:02

Has there even been a King consort ?

Queen consort is a title no different to Prince, princess,

This made me smile. I don't think I need to reply.

Why can't she just stay the "Duchess of Cornwall", like Philip was the Duke of Edinburgh?
Answer: because Charles is pushing for more, just like Edward VIII pushed for a title for Wallis.

Dryginger Tue 29-Jun-21 12:54:36

I dont mind Camilla being made kings consort because thats what she will be if and when Charles becomes king.
And good luck to her I say, after all this time they look good together. As I have said before its a shame he didnt marry her in the first place.

Anniebach Tue 29-Jun-21 12:58:30

Elizabeth, Mary, Alexandra were all Queen consorts ,

Albert wasn’t king consort, he was Prince consort

Sparklefizz Tue 29-Jun-21 12:58:47

As I have said before its a shame he didnt marry her in the first place.

He should have stopped dithering and married her before he was deployed in the Navy and she went off and married Parker Bowles .... oh, wait, he couldn't because she had a sexual history.

Sparklefizz Tue 29-Jun-21 13:00:26

It's impossible in Royal hierarchy to have a King Consort because the rank of King is deemed higher than Queen.

Dryginger Tue 29-Jun-21 13:03:29

What will Kates title be when William becomes king?

Calendargirl Tue 29-Jun-21 13:08:56

A different title to Queen Consort may be given to Camilla when Charles becomes King.

It doesn’t really matter, because in reality, Queen Consort is what she’ll be, however it’s designated.

‘Princess Diana’ never existed, but that is how she is so often referred to. It will be the same with ‘Queen Camilla’.

I for one hope that Charles insists his wife is given her correct title.

Calendargirl Tue 29-Jun-21 13:09:57

Dryginger

Queen Catherine.

FannyCornforth Tue 29-Jun-21 13:35:52

Re Camilla
I thought that the vast majority of people had really taken to Camilla.

I think that she seems absolutely charming.

I can see what Charles sees in her.
She seems like she has a calming and (to use a Harry word) grounding influence on her husband.

Poor Charles and Diana. They really weren't suited at all

Whatdayisit Tue 29-Jun-21 13:43:25

Harry is addressing some 16 to 25 year olds who have been recipients of the Diana Award - telling them to live their authentic life.
I must say when i heard him on the news this morning i thought "here we go!"
What is an authentic life? One that is not fake? I thought a lot of us were just winging it or getting through.
