Royal chat? Why?! Why do so many waste so much time discussing/getting their bowels in a torment about these irrelevancies. I’ve wondered about this ever since joining GN and am finally moved to comment! But it’s the last comment I will be making on any royal thread…you may be glad to know.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not that interested in the Royal Family myself, but I do like to chat, and I know that it's a popular subject. So, hey! What the heck!

Might Artemis, were it to be used, be shortened to Arty? Could be confusingly similar in sound to Archie.

The dog belonging to a friend of mine was called Arty. He was a lovely dog, if rather bonkers.

It could be useful - Artie could ignore Mummy or Daddy if in trouble and pretend she thought they were calling Archie.

Kate1949 thanks for sharing your experience. I love country fairs, county shows, fetes and garden parties, but have real problems standing around for very long.

Diana's middle name was Frances. Maybe that will be used. Who knows?

I understand that Archie is Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, I’m not sure either Harry or William or Williams children are. Prince Phillip was allowed this as a his children took the queens surname rather than his and he wanted Mountbatten to live on.

I think Woke is a good name, Lady Woke Windsor. You can't beat a bit of alliteration. Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their daughter Woke Windsor. I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere! Not a very good one though.

Have been to, and held, many garden parties, some quite posh but never to a royal garden party. I have always worn something plain and summery but with flowers in my straw hat.
I love champagne, real lemonade, dainty sandwiches, canapés of all descriptions and strawberries with anything.
A string quartet playing quietly in the background is the icing on the cake for me.
I particularly enjoyed the parties that ran in to the evening with a good band and dancing.
Hopefully we can do it all again soon.
If your maj is listening, I would use my train pass to travel up to London.

Harry was the name chosen by his mother, Diana.
Henry seemed more appropriate for a British royal prince. So that's what they called him. But Diana got the last laugh because we all know him as Harry!! ??

My bloke is called harry, not christened Henry and I know many young people also called harry, what’s the big deal ?!

Well if this is a general royal thread here's my contribution. I can take them or leave them. I'm not really interested and never post on royal threads.
However, a few years ago I was nominated by my place of work to go to a garden party at Buckingham Palace. It was fabulous. All expenses were paid and me in my posh frock and hat, DH in a nice suit, sauntered past the tourists at the gates. We saw the queen and several royals. The gardens were lovely with military bands playing, a marquee serving tea, little sandwiches, cakes with little crowns on them. Later we were served ice creams. The heavens opened and we were allowed into the palace. What a memorable day Even my DH who is anti royal loved it.

I too attended a garden party with my parents in About 1973
My older sister would have had first dibs as eldest daughter but was about to give birth I think.
I wish I still owned the straw hat with flowers on that I wore,...
I remember very little about the event to be honest!

I would put money on Diana being a middle name. I know Princess Charlotte has Diana as one of her names but Prince George has Louis as another name and Prince Louis is his little brother. The RF seem to recycle names quite a lot. How many Elizabeth’s are there? Have to say I wasn’t impressed with August for Princess Eugenie’s son. I bet Beatrice’s child has an Italian name.

I managed to fend off the migraine and there was good news about my cat so I’m happy now. Still don’t have much of an opinion right now to share.

People have called their children after the place they were conceived- Chelsea- Brooklyn for example. Any idea where the Sussexes were when this happened. It wasn't Frogmore thank goodness. They'd left Toronto I think which wouldn't have been bad. Hollywood?
