Good morning all from a cloudy Polmont. I suspect Marydoll's torrential rain will be heading my way soon!
Yesterday was a lovely day. I caught up with mum then met with a friend and an old colleague who I hadn't seen for three years. It was good to see them both. I pottered about in the afternoon. However the very large coffee ensured I had a difficult night and I'm wiped out this morning. The only thing of note today is the Tesco delivery due soon. I have a chicken and ham casserole ready for tea so I think I'll have an easy day.
Enjoy your trip Grandmattie. I sympathise about the Hay fever Marydoll. I developed it only a couple of years ago. JaxJacky a trip to the dentist is best avoided, in my book. Mind you, it's impossible to get my dentist to actually answer the phone. Those photos are lovely NannyJan. It sounds like you had a good time. Enjoy your role play Ashcombe. Alizarin poor you. What have you been up to that you've broken a finger?
I'm off to get dressed as I don't want to scare the delivery man. Have a good day all.

Good Morning everyone. Still having problems getting onto Gransnet so will make this brief while I try!

Lovely weather, very busy. Out this morning to search for trellis….think we’re living in a 3rd world country, so many delays and shortages. Great to read of trips. Pleased you’re going to Bristol, Mattie - hope it’s just pre-travel nerves and you’ll be thrilled you’ve done it. Love your idea that Maw has ‘character’, Jax.Can just picture her chewing trainers and destroying birds! Everyone poorly, please take it easy we’re all wishing hard for you. Poor Batty - what a nasty fall. Trust the chair remains have been consigned to the bin and you’re on the mend.x If your building works are complete, Cherry , that’s wonderful. Enjoy. I’ve probably missed lots of news - will catch up.
Stay safe, dear Gramingos - hugs for you all.

Good morning from a cooler day than yesterday on the east coast of Fife. In fact it feels quite cold but the suns trying to come out so who knows what the weather will be like today. I had a bit of a restless night and had to take an anti sickness tablet which fortunately settled my stomach.

My DH asked the bin men kindly if they would uplift our old hall carpet. They agreed hurrah saving him a trip to lug it to the tip. Not for free might I add. The new one is going down today, hope it lasts as long as the old one. I’m going for a trip to the local town today perhaps we’ll get a tasty lunch snack somewhere.

Have a good day everyone be kind to yourself flowers

Good morning Mick good morning all from sunny, slightly hazy but beautiful Anglesey. We had a heavy downpour during the night so no plant watering necessary today. Perfect.
Poor Alizarin, hope the finger gets better soon, hand injuries always so awkward.
I’m loving this warm weather too ginny, so uplifting.
Ooh Alygran, a pop up plant sale, I love those, always get things that are just right for the area. Enjoy.
NanKate I meant to say yesterday that your jacket sounded lovely. Perhaps a photo?
Glad your holiday was good NannyJ great pics.
Glad Rosie is okay Maw, what a rascal.
Good luck at the supermarket Party4, big girl pants on and think of that lovely hand picked veg.
I’m sure your daughter will cope admirably Scentia and smile on through like her Mum.
Shout out to DustyAngel to say no one is invisible on here, we see you.
Lucky Beechnutella, my kneeler has given up the ghost, must re pad it.
Hello to Ash, Blue, GrannyGravy Gagagran, granDMattie and all who have appeared while I’ve been banging on.
Special thoughts to Grandmajet, Auntyflo and Marydoll.
I’m spending my day in the garden with Orlin and a book.
Have a good day and look out for that random pink flamingo ?

Good morning from overcast but warm West Berkshire. Have my son and his girlfriend to stay last night so we can hit ikea as they’ve just moved in to their first flat together.

They used the old and squeaky kingsize bed and oops, it collapsed! Quick move of the mattress in to the spare room!

So job today is to see if I can get a spare base for my bed before I move house in a months time. The king bed is usually my bed and I thought it was getting a bit fragile! I slept in a single bed last night.

Thought that might give some of you a chuckle! Have a great day everyone. X

Good morning all from the Suffolk Coast, where we still have sunshine. Although the sea is quite calm , its fairly loud as it breaks onto the shore. I love listening to it whilst in bed. ?.
I sleep so well when we are here.???.

Yesterday we shopped in our local co op. The shelves and freezers were half empty, couldn’t find much of what we wanted and what there was, very expensive. They have the monopoly here but we will travel a bit further where there is more choice.

More work completed in the garden, so my back is still sore but it’s good to make progress. DH is keen to do lots of jobs, so he is coming back from his lockdown inertia. ??.

grandMattie enjoy your break away. The travel is just a means to an end. ?.

bluesaphire thanks for info on the Premium Bonds. ?.

Alizarin - poor you. Did they set it? My GS broke his little finger (we think) playing footie. I managed to get a splint from the chemist and it seemed to do the trick.

Maw I’m glad you’re pleased with your new hairdo. It tricky to change hairdressers isn’t it? Especially in the same salon. ?

Nannyjan lovely Lime Regis. Haven’t been for many years but I always thing of The French Lieutenant’s Woman, walking along The Cob. Great film.

Might go in for a swim today ..... or might not ?. Cold water swimming supposed to be very good for you. Unless you have a heart attack of course. ?.

Wishing you all a lovely day. ?

Greyduster Thu 03-Jun-21 08:06:04

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. A cloudy start in South Yorkshire, so it will hopefully be a little cooler. We spent yesterday morning having a challenging phone call with Scottish Power about our fuel bill, then a decorator came to give us an estimate, after which I had to lie down in a dark room! Lawns were cut, ironing done, and that was our day. Today is food shopping, some plants to pot up and a bit of baking I think.
A hug for those who need it, and for all, a peaceful day.

Pittcity Thu 03-Jun-21 08:02:56

Good morning from a warm and overcast Colchester. Yesterday's hot sun gave way to a strong feel by evening and now it feels close and sticky. Forecast to get hot again.

DD1 and DGS1 and 3 coming for the day. Garden and park methinks.

Lots of love and lollies all round x

Marydoll Thu 03-Jun-21 07:59:56

It is now torrential rain!!!?

brook2704 Thu 03-Jun-21 07:58:13

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s another warm sunny start to the day. Yesterday was a scorcher, a bit hazy in the morning but when that cleared it was hot and sunny until evening.
Enjoy your trip to Bristol GM I really like that city, lots to see and do. Quite often before covid we’d take the easyJet Inverness to Bristol flight and stop over there before heading off elsewhere.
I met my friend for coffee and a chat yesterday we sat outside all afternoon., it was beautiful. Then off to watch footy mad DGS at his football practice and then a delightful half hour with DGD at the park - a really lovely day.
Sounds like you had a good holiday nannyjan happy memories made
Take care everyone on all the lovely travels, meet ups and holidays going on, hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Marydoll Thu 03-Jun-21 07:57:52

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 12°C already , with the promise of 18°.

Yesterday was a non day for me. As usual, if I have a busy day, the previous day, I'm wiped out the next one. I've learned to live with that. I did manage to fill a bag for the charity shop, I am trying to be ruthless! However, I cannot find a charity shop to take them. ? My biggest problem is that I'm no longer able to climb to reach the top of the wardrobe, so I need to downsize my wardrobe and make life easier for me. I'm not a minimalist, so that will be difficult. ?

We are off out to look for more begonias for our hanging baskets. DH has spent ages planting them, but we still haven't enough! I am going to try keep my hands in my pockets, we do NOT need any more fruit bushes etc.
My hayfever has gotten dramatically worse over the last few days and for the first time in seventeen months, my chest has flared up because of it. I have a rescue pack of steroids and antibiotics, but don't really wish to take even more meds.
Like others, I too didn't sleep well , partly because DH thumped me in his sleep. Of course, as usual, he is in denial!!

GM, enjoy your trip to Bristol. We first went there in 1980 on a Golden Rail holiday to Weston- Super--mare, despite it cheaper to go abroad. In those days, DH refused to go on foreign holidays. Anyone remember them? It involved four different train changes (and much stress) from Glasgow! Changed days now, my good nagging influence.?
The part which remains in my memory is, after crossing the Clifton Suspension bridge, DH spotted a sign saying Ferry to City Centre. It turned out to be a man with a rowing boat. ?‍♂️ I was terrified, as it rocked from side to side on the river.

Thinking of all our poorly friends and for those with plans today, enjoy! We won't be out long, Covid cases here are rising again, so best to avoid public places as much as possible. However, it could be that increased testing is identifying more asymptomatic cases. ?
PS, I loved the Pinball Wizard analogy, Laura ? It sums me up to a T!

dragonfly46 Thu 03-Jun-21 07:55:33

Good morning from a dull Leicestershire.

Woke up to videos of the DGC which my DiL sent.
Man coming to look at sofa this am as the reclining bit keeps failing then a walk in the afternoon.

Thinking of Auntieflo, Harrigan and all those with worries. Also wondering how our missing posters are - you know who you are!

baubles Thu 03-Jun-21 07:50:59

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire. Ugh it’s grey, cool, and wet out there.

Rushing out to drop the little pooch off at DD’s before setting out in the opposite direction to go over to DS’s to collect the DGDs from nursery.

Will catch up with the thread this evening, have the best possible day everyone.

Jaxjacky Thu 03-Jun-21 07:50:54

Good morning all, a cloudy S Hants for now. That’s a journey gM hopefully with no glitches, worth it though. Ashcombe your thesps have passed quickly, pleased you enjoyed it. Rosie certainly has some ‘character’ Maw, I think she takes after her owner ?.
NannyJan I’ve been dithering with a few days in Bridport, your pictures may have swung it! Delightful.
Turns out an admin error/human error or just celestial influence means I don’t have the dentist tomorrow afternoon, rescheduled to July. I’d really psyched myself up, downloaded an audible book as suggested, DH taken the day off to taxi. Part of me is disappointed and part relieved, #ostrichgran.
Anyway, today is clean bathrooms, hoover and other tedious matters. DD and I are possibly out this afternoon buying pots and plants for her newly artificially turfed garden.
Have a gentle day all, possibly a ?or two.
Auntiflo and Grandmajet are in my thoughts with others poorly, struggling or just down x

ginny Thu 03-Jun-21 07:43:58

Good morning from N. Bucks where the thin cloud is hopefully clearing. I am loving this warm weather.
A few bits and bobs to do today and we are having lunch with DD3 and family.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

BlueSapphire Thu 03-Jun-21 07:41:38

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, seems a bit cooler this morning. I have a cat on my lap enjoying her usual morning cuddle. Nothing will deter her from joining me and it gets a bit awkward to write!

Spent yesterday afternoon in the garden reading, then trimmed the lawn edges, got the lawn mower out and swept up all the clippings; watered everything and cleaned the bird baths out.

A load of washing is in the machine, then must await a Sainsbury's delivery over lunchtime. Will probably sit and read in the garden again. Making a batch of chilli for dinner, hopefully enough to have tonight and two for the freezer.

Safe journey, grandMattie, and best wishes to all for a pleasant day in the sunshine ?.

Alygran Thu 03-Jun-21 07:41:16

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s cloudy today.
It was a very hot drive home yesterday but the traffic was ok so I was back well before lunchtime. I popped into town for some food shopping, got some washing done (left from last week because of the decorating) and cut the lawns. The house martins made a lovely pattern on a white duvet cover so it had to be rewashed. Good job it was sunny and warm till late!
Ironing this morning before walking into the village where there is to be a pop up plant stall for Marie Curie.
Charity meeting later.
Hope everyone has a good day and that the travelling goes ok.
Thoughts to those who are unwell, caring for their DH and alone today.

NanKate Thu 03-Jun-21 07:40:18

Alizarin that’s the problem with writing a message and not reading it through. ?

NanKate Thu 03-Jun-21 07:38:59

Morning Mick and All.

Warm cloudy day in South Bucks.

So good to have you back but sort to hear about your broken finger Alizarin but sorry to hear about your broken finger.

Glad you had a good hols NannyJ great holiday snaps ?

Meeting a friend at the Garden Centre for lunch, normal life is slowly returning.

Party4 Thu 03-Jun-21 07:26:24

Morning all.Didnt get the rain as promised last night so good job DH did give the garden a light watering even though he knocked over and shattered one of my new large pots?.
Mattie enjoy your trip, know how you feel regarding being out and about I too am lacking in confidence and although exempt from mask wearing feel safer wearing one but defo no pleasure in browsing shops etc.I do wonder how long it will be before we regain our confidence.
Today first time for year going to do supermarket shop as been so disappointed with quality of my fruit/veg order.I have been so grateful for the service though and completing the order has help pass couple of lockdown hrs.DH would rather we continue the orders as he hates shopping.
Thinking of all with illness and worry.

NannyJan53 Thu 03-Jun-21 07:14:58

Good morning from a cloudy but warm Black Country.

We had a lovely week in Lyme Regis, using the bus to travel to Sidmouth, Seaton etc. How useful is our Senior Pass when out and about. Yesterdays journey back on the M5 was a bit scary, with lots of spray, so we took it steady. Now to tackle the piles of washing!

Wishing you all a lovely day

GrannyGravy13 Thu 03-Jun-21 07:14:05

Scentia Thu 03-Jun-21 07:05:51

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where the washing is on the line so I hope the sun comes out.
First day back at work after a week spent with DD snd DGS and the new baby. She is truly on her own for the first time today, she will be amazing as she has recovered so well from her operation and is already establishing a routine for them all. She is the most fantastic mummy and I am so proud of her.
I will catch up on all your stories later a tea break time.
Take care my friends and smile as much as you can.?

Alizarin Thu 03-Jun-21 07:00:00

Good morning from an overcast but already warm south Cornwall. Broken finger on right hand so hard to text, excuse brevity. Have the best day everyone.

MawBe Thu 03-Jun-21 06:55:41

Good morning all - yes it does look as if it might be a fraction cooler today, yesterday was exceedingly warm so I had a friend round to lunch and we sat outside and put the world to rights for 3+ hours!I’ve had my Dyson fan on (low setting, no. 1) all night and it made a pleasant difference.
Exciting day today- a walk to the visiting mobile post office which stops at the village hall for an hour and in the afternoon an appointment at the tip, as I am clearing boxes etc from the garage so that D and SIL can store some of their stuff while their loft extension/conversion happens in a few weeks. Be still my beating heart!
I have not been happy with the last 2 haircuts from my new hairdresser so I took my courage in both hands and rang up trying not to sound as if I was complaining but wanting to book a cut with the salon boss (who did my hair years ago) to have it all off. Went late yesterday afternoon and I think I like what she has done and I didn’t notice too many evil glances from the other girl when I was there. TBH (or this was my excuse) I think it was because she had only ever seen me with a mask and you can’t get a hairstyle right if you can’t see a client’s face, can you? When in a hole, stop digging.
Oh yesterday’s Rosie event was her catching and killing a young blackbird sad . Fortunately the gardener was there to dispose of the corpus - evil hound!
Wishing you all a pleasant day!
