Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s another lovely sunny day. The weather here has really been gorgeous recently, we’re so lucky and enjoying every minute.
Lots of positive upbeat news on here today with days out, holidays and meet ups. So pleased your journey to Bristol went well GM enjoy your time with the family
Birthday weekend celebrations Dwm and NanKate hope your DHs enjoy their special days
We’re off out walking somewhere in the hills today, DH is making the sándwiches just now and we’ll be leaving soon, it should be a good day and I’m looking forward to it. Makes a change from gardening anyhow! As long as I’m outside somewhere in the fresh air I’m happy
I hope your DD enjoys Orkney Marydoll we’ve been there a couple of times and thought it was so different and very interesting. .
Good luck with your meeting today with the council Gagagran I hope it gets sorted.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Iris’ original “random flamingo” in her surprisingly adult 9 y.o. hand.

Good morning from a cloudy but very warm Black Country,

Managed to get 3 loads of washing done and dried yesterday, popped into town for a few bits and bobs, then cut the lawn as the grass had grown very high whilst away. Then a phone chat with my friend in Stamford. Hope to visit her soon, as last trip was cancelled last October.

MrJ is like your DH NanKate every morning he has cereal, toast and a banana! He is very slim, as my Nan used to say 'he bay gorra enough fat to grace a pon!

Marydoll you should really write a book, you have a very entertaining way of writing

No real plans today, except I shall probably pop over to Mums and have a walk with her.

Wishing you all a lovely day, with special thoughts of gilly you are not forgotten flowers

Urmstongran Fri 04-Jun-21 07:50:05

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s another sunny day. Gorgeous weather again.

We have babysitting duties at 4pm whilst daughter & son in law go out to sit at a bar, have a couple of drinks in the sunshine and have a table booked for just the two of them for a meal at 7pm. I will give the children their tea at their house, Himself will then take the boy wonder to cricket and I will bath lil miss then play Barbies until her bedtime at 7pm.

Before then I think we will go out for a walk somewhere this afternoon to make the most of this good weather. Enjoy the day everyone. Thinking of all with anxieties and health concerns. x

Good morning all from a very beautiful sunny start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. The culprits who are pulling the fat balls off my daughters bird feeders through the night are in fact crows, she’s got photos to prove it cheeky things, at least it’s not a bear wink

I’m up for making a cottage pie today while himself is away golfing it’ll do the dinner tomorrow with a few vegetables.
Here’s hoping for energy to visit me our new lobby carpet went down yesterday it’s fabulous it’s a Heather self colour at very reasonable price the carpet fitter has done a speedy job by gum they know what they are doing smile

Have a good day everyone cheer yourselves by giving yourself a wee treat of sorts flowers

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny South Yorkshire. We are expecting DD and GS to come early this afternoon to go for a walk with us, but we still don’t know if they will be staying for a meal afterwards. I’ll put a chicken in the slow cooker in case they do. I’ve never tried it before! It’ll either be lovely or a disaster. I bought a nice pot yesterday for the last of the plants I’ve raised, so that will be a job for this morning. Whatever you are doing today, have a good one folks!

cornergran Fri 04-Jun-21 08:00:36

Morning Mick, morning All from a brightening corner of Somerset. Sunshine promised.

A top up shop while our determined neighbour is having her hairdresser appointment. Happy to be her Friday taxi, she’s too weak to go independently now and it makes such a difference to her well-being. This afternoon we may see the beach although I should do ‘stuff’ here.

Pleased the journey went well grandMattie. Enjoy your shopping, watch out for electric scooters whizzing around, some riders are less than careful with pedestrians, they scared me when we were there recently. I’m sure Iris will understand them far better than I and keep you safe smile.

Good luck with the doors marydoll, that sort of thing didn’t worry me a bit until maturity grin hit, now I am a right negative soul, always expect something to go wrong. Rosie would make an excellent advert mawb, always looks so relaxed.

Wishing you all the best day possible. Hope Friday is kind to us all.

Good morning all. Polmont has a heady mixture of clouds and blue skies with sunshine. I'm not sure which will win. Yesterday was a very lazy day for me,once Tesco had delivered. Today I have a chiropodist appointment, then a visit to a friend to drop of a baby gift. This afternoon might see dd and dgs come down for a while. I will have to water the garden at some point. I hope the conservatory doors are hung with no drama Marydoll. Enjoy your trip Grandmattie. Girly shopping sounds fun. Mawbe I have discovered San Pellegrino too. It's very refreshing, isn't it? Have a good day all.

Elizabeth1 Fri 04-Jun-21 08:07:06

Where’s my previous message? I’ve lost it!anyway here’s the horrible yucky mince my ds made after she leaves it on the cooker simmering for four hours it’s not even browned silly person that she is. My salmon the other day was all slimy in the middle I’m afraid her cooking skills are to be desired. Thank goodness for M&S tasty bites. smile

Alygran Fri 04-Jun-21 08:09:00

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Another lovely sunny day in store.
I’m off to town this morning. I need food and picture hooks. A friend and her DH are coming for lunch next week and will help me get pictures back up. Another job not easy on your own.
I need to learn to read! The pop up plant stall is July not June! Never mind I had a nice walk in the village.
Thinking of all who are not well, busy caring or alone today.
Hope everyone has a good day.
I’ll try some pics from the garden this morning but it will only do them sideways!

GrannyGravy13 Fri 04-Jun-21 08:12:16

Morning Mick and all

I managed to plant up my pots and salad and herbs yesterday with enthusiastic help from The Imp.

I couldn’t resist these flamingo gardening gloves.

We are attempting to go to the big Sainsbury’s supermarket (your way Gingster) let’s hope The Imp is amenable, although someone was letting off fireworks at gone 10pm last night and I had an angry WhatsApp from DD, they had woken him up!!

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Gingster Fri 04-Jun-21 08:13:40

Good morning from a lovely sunny start to the day. There’s a bit of a haze out to sea but it’s calm and peaceful. Little pooch and I have had our cuppa on the bench overlooking the beach. DH is still ???. I love this time of the day! Rain forecast for later though!

Yesterday we set off over the fields to walk through to the common which is huge but when we approached the gate, there was a large sign telling us there was a bull and cattle there. So we about turned and walked another way. What a shame as this is one of our favourite walks. ?.

We went to our local nursery and bought some bedding plants, so more gardening to do today. It never ends! Still lots to do here until we can sit and enjoy our labours.

Our neighbour is coming in for afternoon tea. I will ask our immediate neighbour , but I doubt she will come in. She’s still very wary of being close to people.

I’m glad Mattie arrived without too much worry. Enjoy your shopping trips.

Harrigran the smell of old fashioned roses conjures up such memories of my grandmas garden.

Marydoll I hope those doors fit. I know the feeling of expecting problems . Fingers crossed for you. ?.

I’m starting a new book today for my Suffolk book club . The Jane Austin Society. By Natalie Jenner. Hope it’s a goodun!

Wishing you all a painfree, worry free and pleasant day.???

Gingster Fri 04-Jun-21 08:18:27

Pic of our beach

Urmstongran Fri 04-Jun-21 08:18:43

Beautiful garden you have Alygran in God’s own country. You have a quirky sense of fun Elizabeth1 I love how you are always so upbeat despite your health constraints.
?
The 8:20am into Manchester Oxford Road has just squealed into the train station amselerin ... and off it goes, passengers coming up the steps now, dressed for a sunny day. I like people watching!

Grandmabatty Fri 04-Jun-21 08:20:41

Gingster that looks lovely. I wish I was near a beach.

Grandmajean Fri 04-Jun-21 08:22:26

Good morning. Sunny here in Cheshire. I can't keep up with all you early posters. I like to post on my desk top computer - easier to type than on a phone so have to get up and log on in my study. "Study" sounds posh - used to be DD's bedroom but now all mine !
Will look at other posts now. Seen Marydoll's pic from Kelvingrove Park. Remember it well. Beautiful parks in "That dear, green place"

Lins1066 Fri 04-Jun-21 08:27:37

Good morning from a sunny, warm S Welsh coast.
It's a dog's life Maw, Rosie is certainly making herself at home. Our puppy was off his food a couple of days ago, I think it was the heat, he has eaten all his kibble this morning thank goodness. He's going to have a bath later which he won't like but he's getting more used to it.
A butcher's delivery this morning and some bedding to wash.
Our campers on the Gower visited Port Eynon yesterday, it looked beautiful there.
Hope you are feeling better Cherry, and Susan's SiL is improving.
A gentle hug to all in need of one today. Thinking of Auntyflo hope she is ok.
Happy Friday gilly.

hollysteers Fri 04-Jun-21 08:31:53

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest Lancashire coast. I hope you have a better nights sleep tonight Mick, a fan would help if you are too hot. I emerged from sleep today after dreaming I was discussing the Duke of Windsor with Winston Churchill and I felt he would be impressed by my thoughts on the matter?
Off to art group this morning, yay, first time for yonks, good to have something to get me out of the house, then food shopping, yawn.
Sister’s birthday on the 5th and my DD has arranged afternoon tea at Cliveden when I journey south soon. The train prices are absolutely outrageous. I’m not marching about the pandemic but feel like marching at being mugged for a train journey in my own country.
Gave myself a pedicure and the George Burns quip came into my mind about bending down when getting older:-
“What else can I do while I’m down here?”?
Amselerin, your German town looks lovely and I hope your arrangements are going well.
Thoughts to harrigran and all with worries of any kind.

Anniebach Fri 04-Jun-21 08:33:24

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Alygran Fri 04-Jun-21 08:33:40

Thank you Urmstongran. It always makes me smile that you can see the Pennines. I can too but further north and from the other side!

Nannagarra Fri 04-Jun-21 08:49:11

Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is glorious so I’ll be out, enjoying the sunshine and getting some exercise.
Had a lovely day yesterday celebrating Miss Chatterbox’s 5th birthday and later catching up with friends.
Sending a smile and a glimpse of a flamingo.

merlotgran Fri 04-Jun-21 09:15:17

Good Morning everyone from my temporary abode in north west London. I rarely post on this thread as it moves so quickly I'd never keep up with all the 'goings on.'

I'm doing a lot of reading at the moment - post hospital enforced idleness and remember seeing a book recommendation by Urmstongran a few weeks ago which I made a note of and then lost!

If you read this, Urmstongran, you said it was one of the best books you had ever read. Can anyone remember what it was?

Not 'Crawdadds' because I've read that.

My kindle is charged in anticipation!

Grammaretto Fri 04-Jun-21 09:16:36

Good Morning everyone from the Scottish Borders where it is just not quite warm enough to sit in the garden for breakfast. The workmen on the roof next door are a disincentive also.
Is it really a year since DD's wedding Marydoll? hard to believe. Does one require pants on honeymoon? wink
On Orkney with those winds - the answer is probably yes.
DH and thus all the DC have Orcadian ancestry which delighted him when it showed in his DNA test. We spent many hours inspecting graveyards on Mainland.

I hope they have a lovely time and that your door is by now fitted.

I loathe fighting the Council or any official body Gagagran. I hope you get a good outcome.
I am very relieved that your journey went OK grandMattie and you are enjoying yourselves with Iris and co.

Nothing much planned for me. I'll begin to fill in my driving licence application. It has to be renewed every 3 years now.
Have a lovely day all of you including Gillybob wherever you are.

LauraNorder Fri 04-Jun-21 09:25:48

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Anglesey where the skies are blue, the birds are singing and Orlin has made some delicious looking biscuits.
Can’t wait for a bite, the recipe was for fairy cakes but hey, he tried and they’re probably delicious.
Today will be gardening, some edges to trim, a bit of hoeing and, because patio slabs being delivered on Monday, a bit of prep levelling the area outside the back door. Will brace myself and think of the calories burning away the winter padding.
Hope you all have a good day and, just like Iris, find delight in that random flamingo.

Haven’t had time to catch up with everyone yet but wanted to post picture of dress I rediscovered in my wardrobe this morning. I will take to wear tomorrow for DH’s birthday dinner.
Can’t believe I had forgotten I have a?dress ?
