Good morning all from S W Herts, starting off grey today.

Yesterday I managed to finish painting the summerhouse, found a couple of very small pieces of we rot, so will have to treat those. Also got round to putting up fairy lights on the 9' tall arbour, which have been sitting on the kitchen window ledge since they were given to me at Christmas. We have friends for a barbecue tonight, so I am making an effort!

Conference call at 10.00 about the conference for 100 we usually run in October. Had to be cancelled last year, and I am beginning to wonder about this year, but we will plough on in hope.

Car due for MOT at 10.10, bad planning, so will be late for the call, and have to get DH to collect it, assuming it passes.

Never sure what to do for pudding at barbecues, not keen on using the barbecue for that, just something cold to follow, any ideas?

Wishing an easier day for those with worries, and a healthy and happy day for everyone else.

Clicked shopping to collect - no beer Kitty - and yet more gardening. Lots of plants waiting for a flowerbed!

B9 I buy posh ice cream, last time I had a caffe latte and a mango sorbet, both from Tesco, not big tubs, you may need a couple of each. It went down well, minimal effort and back into the freezer if not used.

Well the sun's up today after two days of respite from it and it's cooler than it was but my guess is that it'll warm up later.

Expecting someone to check all the electrics at some point this morning. It's an annual thing and can take a couple of hours so I can't really get into doing much until he/she has gone.

I had to stay put yesterday to wait for a call-back from a GP when I rang about my swollen feet so Frusemide will be on its way today to take when needed, so as long as they have the desired effect that'll do me.
It makes me wonder how long it's going to be before there are normal appointments again though.

Electrician has been and gone now so an hour wasn't so bad this time and he's just replaced the fire alarm that's all. I'm always on pins until these checks are over, he was masked though and all windows and doors were open.

I think it'll be safe weatherwise to get the big curtains done today while the going's good. It'll be the ironing of them that'll be the hardest part.

I love the fruit tree Marydoll, it's beautiful. You sound so much better today which is great. Hope everyone else's spirits have been lifted a bit with the fine weather, it does help.
Though I feel for anyone whose life isn't going to plan or have health problems to endure. xx.

Trying to persuade myself I have the energy to do the weekly Tesco shop which could wait till tomorrow. Sad when even the weekly treat doesn’t appeal!

Think we are due another hot and sunny day after yesterday’s cloud, so must give the new pots on the front step a drink now the sun has moved round. I bought a couple ready planted from the garden centre, something I have never done, so need to nurture them to justify the wicked extravagance.

Thinking there must be a novella entitled “Marydoll and the New Doors” and looking forward to reading it. Thinking of Auntieflo, Merlotgran and all those not enjoying life much at present.

Just sorted out Mark, gardener. He doesn't need sorting out, he's lovely Last raised bed today, Fruit cage one. Cage has to stay where it is and it slopes down slightly.

Half cloud and blue skies at the moment. Last plants to go into the garden. Still taking care with this knee and stopping regularly to exercise it. This is me being positive as I said last night in the kitchen.

B9exchange Enjoy the BBQ. We tend to get the brownies and icecream out. Boxes of different cornettos are in the freezer too.

I dropped some clothes off at our Barnardos the other day Marydoll. I think I read one of your posts where your charity shop wasn't taking them. Perhaps more are starting to now. Red lime tree - going to look that up. I love fruit trees and bushes. We're clearing off some ground so I can plant a few varieties of gooseberries.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Portugal. It’s a beautiful day here at the moment, a pleasant 20°C and no strong winds. I’m making the most of it as I’m sure it will get much hotter again later.

I’m sure there will be another page of chat before I finish this post but I opened up GN and straight away saw your beautiful dress Dwmxwg. How lovely to discover a “new” dress just when you need one and one with a secret meaning too. I have been meaning to say that I enjoyed your mention of the fields beside Runnymede the other day as well. We probably come from roughly the same neck of the woods as most of my life in England was spent living within shouting distance of the A30 from Ashford via Bagshot through to the Camberley and Hants border. My first job was in Egham.

LauraNorder, I enjoyed the introduction to your family the other day, and Grandmabatty I do hope that your dignity has fully recovered and you have no nasty bruises. My husband did the same thing but with a plastic chair, which turned out to have been left out too long in the sun. There were about eight of us sitting outside for lunch when he suddenly disappeared under the table, our hosts were very upset so he made very little it but I know it hurt. Still makes me want to giggle when I visualise it though.

Good morning/ afternoon, Mick, Annie, and to all the lovely GN's who send me best wishes and remember me on this lovely thread.

I must admit to not being up to much recently and last week was the tin-lid on top of everything else.
But, today I am feeling better, physically and mentally, so thanks again one and all.
The problem with my leg seems to have been , not a clot/DVT, but a Bakers Cyst, behind my knee, which ruptured and leaked fluid down my calf. The extensive bruising was not a pretty sight. I think it is beginning to heal now, as it is not so painful.
I had a call from AGEUK this morning , she was a bit 'fluffy', but put me on to requesting a Perching stool, from the council. Duly done and I await an OT, to measure me up?
Earlier I received a big bouquet from our absent neighbours. Beautiful.
DG has gone shopping and I will have his lunch ready, soon.
A friend is coming to chat this afternoon, so, if I don't fall asleep, we will have a lovely time.

Auntieflo, you have my sympathies. I had a Baker's cyst about ten years ago and remember meeting up with friends at RHS Hyde Hall and walking round feeling like somebody was sneaking up behind me and tricking boiling water down the back of my leg. Hope it heals up soon.
