Thanks to Jax, morning all from what promises to be a beautiful day here West Yorks.Cat napped early evening then couldnt sleep at bedtime so up at 2.30 catch up on GN then returned to bed 4.30.I really must get back into a healthy routine.
ALIZARIN great for you to be home but take things slowly shame to spoil your uneventful recovery.
JAX you have my sympathy a dry crusty nose is like an itch you cannot reach.
Think I may make some apple sponge using up apples the DGCs have ignored, going for all the bananas/watermelon instead.
The G7 meet certainly causing chaos for those trying to continue with their lives as well as added Covid threats. We know a few having staycations down there instead of their usual cruising.Quiet day today just pottering.
Thoughts of those with illness and worry.

Good morning all from cool and cloudy South Lanarkshire.

DDog had her op yesterday and was very sleepy all evening but did eat and drink a little when I brought it to her. She’s still in bed now so I’m about to go and get her up. Today will be a quiet one as she can’t be walked.

Hope it’s a peaceful day for everyone.

GrannySomerset Sat 12-Jun-21 08:15:51

Glorious morning so am awake and ready to face the day, though not much is planned. DH wants to watch Trooping the Colour so we’ll do that before I do local shop. Otherwise not a lot in view.

The news is disappointing though unsurprising but at least we have no family plans for a big event like a wedding. I feel so sorry for those with arrangements thrown into disarray, and even more sorry for people whose businesses are affected.

Good morning all,

The sun ☀️ is shining here in South Yorkshire now and the cloud is starting to thin out so it should be a nice day today. It looks less breezy, too.

Having a get together with a few of the family tomorrow so will be popping out later to collect some party food to offer them. It seems SO long since we were able to do anything like this, and the weather is set to be hot tomorrow so the plan to use the garden should go ahead, which I feel happier about. There won’t be a lot of us, but being outdoors will be better. We missed so many special birthdays last year, and there’s another one this weekend, so it will be a joint celebration.

To all on their travels, I do hope you are enjoying yourselves and to all feeling unwell, I send my best wishes that you soon start to feel better ?.

Take care everyone.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny ?Northampton. High temperatures forecast for today, and I shall struggle to find shade in the garden. I may have to look for the garden umbrella.

Cut the back grass yesterday, as I feared it would be too hot today, so never got to hoover upstairs, never mind there's only me here to see it! Sat in the garden in the afternoon and finished my book which I thoroughly enjoyed. Was surprised to find that I'd ordered it on my Kindle five years ago, but have no recollection of it at all; I know I definitely hadn't read it before. Will start on another of DD's books today.

Thank you Urmston and GrandmaFrench for the kind comments yesterday; I too wondered what on earth happened to me last year. I was definitely not myself at all, but it seems a victim of Covid. A year I shall not want to remember.

Now to make a coffee and attack the Saturday crossword. Rugby on tv this afternoon, the last match of the season, and we are away to Bath. I plan on recording the match to watch this evening, as Saturday evening tv is normally rubbish. Enjoy the lovely sunshine everyone.

Good morning ! Is it only Cheshire that is dull today ? Hope it brightens up later.
Have a good day all . Will enjoy posts later.

Good morning from a bright and sunny Black Country.

Had a lovely day yesterday. Popped over to Mums and she had an unexpected visitor in my cousin and his new lady friend! Not seen my cousin for probably two years! Then we went to DD's village to meet the two DGD's from their school bus, and spend time with them at home.

Today I am off on a u3a canal walk, with a cafe stop at the end. Then this afternoon prepare for our week away in caravan,

Great to hear that you are home Alizarin I hope your recovery is speedy!

Wishing you all a good day, with special thoughts to all our missing friends.

Urmstongran Sat 12-Jun-21 08:31:36

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have white cloud at present but I can see the green Pennine ridge over in the east quite clearly so it’s going to be a sunny day later.

We have absolutely no plans. Yay! Might go for a walk. Might pop over to see the smalls as Himself promised the boy wonder a bike ride later today after his friendly football match (the boy’s, not grandad ha!). I promised l’il miss I’d do her another French braid as when I tucked her in last night she couldn’t possibly sleep in it. ‘Too bumpy grandma’. The princess and the pea cane to mind.

Anyway, a lovely Saturday to spend as we choose. (The holiday up to Plockton is next Saturday Gingster!). Enjoy this day all who can. Happy holiday break Ashcombe and *Marydoll’. x

Good morning, Michael, and Jax for doing the honours. Miss you, Mick.
Maple has our South Yorkshire weather spot on ?- another warm one in prospect. Not sure what today will bring, but we are eating out with DD and her menfolk this evening at a pub local to them so that will be something to look forward to. Whatever you are doing, enjoy your day.

Alygran Sat 12-Jun-21 08:33:53

Good morning from North Yorkshire where we have a bright sunny start.
I got lots of gardening done yesterday afternoon. The lawn needs cutting twice a week at the moment.
Croissants and coffee in the garden this morning then I need to get on and write two funding bids for our little charity.
Hope today is kind to everyone whether poorly, caring, travelling or just enjoying the lovely weather.

kittylester Sat 12-Jun-21 08:34:26

Good morning all from a North Leicestershire that is strangely similar to dragonfly's.

Had a good day yesterday - a visit from DD3 and the Wondrous Wolfie then a meal at our favourite village restaurant. It was a strange experience- we went early but it got busier and busier and we were glad to leave.

Today, I have to go to the farm shop and water the front garden - and try to avoid the football, the test match and the Twenty Twenty!! Luckily dh isnt into the tennis!!

amselerin Sat 12-Jun-21 08:36:09

Good morning Mick and the team from warm, sticky Lueneburg. We are waiting for the rain. Even though, the weeds seem to enjoy this weather : I had to spent yesterday afternoon the same way as Beechnut - on my knees. I am amazed that you are already home Alizarin. Don`t overdue it. Wishing you well with your recovery.. Today a bit more gardening and maybe taking Waldi for a walk. She is not keen on rain, snow and warm weather. She prefers the bus or car. Unfortunately she has put on a bit of weight and needs a bit more exercise.
So, wishing you all a happy Saturday and only little problems if any. Take care.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning from a cloudy S Welsh coast. Yesterday was cool and there was sea mist last night, hardly Flaming June here. We took the dog Sam for a short walk along a deserted seafront, he is so much better now thank goodness ( and naughty again ).

We have a fruit and veg delivery this morning. Later one of ours is visiting, I did think we could have lunch in the garden, where is this promised heatwave? I've made a Victoria Sponge, a family favourite, every cloud has a silver lining smile
I hope that Cherry is feeling alright over the Bay.
Wishing everyone a good day, take care.

Grammaretto Sat 12-Jun-21 08:47:45

Good Morning all from the Scottish Borders. A cool day so far for a major clearout ready for painting next week.

Thanks to Jax, Maw, Dwmx and all who encouraged ordered me to phone the gas emergency number yesterday. I did and a man came out, diagnosed a leak at the cooker and switched everything off. I then had to find an engineer who also came out, switched it on again but found another problem - another leak somewhere in the system. He switched everything off again but promises to come out on Tuesday to start the search again.
I don't believe it! as Victor Meldrew would say.
On the bright side, It's flaming June, I have an electric ring and shower and I wasn't planning a dinner party and G&T is best served cold.

Have a gorgeous w/end in Pitlochry Marydoll. I shall be in Perth for Potfest (that's the annual pottery festival at Scone Palace) and we are promised wall to wall sunshine.

I love that you can celebrate success with strawberries from the garden Dwmx.
Wishing you all a happy weekend.

Grandmabatty Sat 12-Jun-21 08:49:01

Good morning all from Polmont. The weather is cloudy and very windy. I'm cloudy too! I didn't have a good night and I was conscious of a sore neck at one point - must have been the way I was lying. Then up twice to the loo. All of that meant I didn't wake til eightish which is unheard of for me! I had a takeaway curry for dinner and I suspect that's upset me. Probably too much fat/sugar content. Oh well. I also had a lovely chap turned up to give me a quote for trimming hedges. He seems really nice and I'm keen to promote local firms. He's not long started up so I'll see how the hedge work goes before getting him to do other stuff.
Today I'll get shopping done at Aldi then housework which is my usual Saturday. I hope everyone has a good day.

Gingster Sat 12-Jun-21 08:52:53

Ooops! Another week to wait Urms. ?

Nannagarra Sat 12-Jun-21 08:57:10

Good morning from mild but overcast Sefton. Thanks for opening Jax. Like Alizarin, you seem on the mend. It’s also heartening to learn Mrharri is feeling better.
Our mini ‘picnic’ with DGD on the grass verge of a public footpath was interrupted yesterday. The woman who lives in the house at the side of the path came out to tell us she disapproves, that she maintains the strip as she mows it. In contrast to DH and DS, I’m inclined to relocate...what would you do?
Are you using the tie dye fabric for Iris or for a quilt, grandMattie? Many of my friends make quilts but they are usually knitted in mitred squares using left over sock wool. (Absolutely beautiful.) They no longer ask what I’m making as it’s almost always ventilator hats and cardigans for prems in SCBUs. This morning I’ll deliver the latest batch for those who’ve hatched, one of whom is the son of a good family friend.
Whatever you plan to do today, I send you some sunshine - just appearing - and a smile. Take care.

Morning from Ayrshire where I am staying with my coastal friend. Looks cloudy but, as we say in Scotland, ‘at least it’s not raining’. When it’s raining, we say, ‘at least it’s not cold’. When it’s both raining and cold, we say, ‘at least there’s no midgies’!
Anyhow, I had a lovely longed for walk along the seashore yesterday and am having a very nice visit with a very good cook!
It had been really nice catching up and she has kindly asked me to stay on till tomorrow so more walking by the shore today. I do feel lucky and grateful.

I didn’t get to read everyone’s posts yesterday so I hope all is as well as it can be for us all. As ever, love and prayers to the carers among us, and wishing a good day to all.

Dogsmakemesmile Sat 12-Jun-21 08:59:20

Good morning from a cool but promising Scottish Borders. Hope all as content as possible. Trip to local town to pick up some items ordered by phone. Would have liked to do detour to my favourite place (I keep it secret) but they are apparently filming the new Indiana Jones film nearby so I suspect traffic will be diverted. It will bring money to the region I suppose. Definitely want to tidy/put away stuff later. My best wishes to you.

Grandmafrench Sat 12-Jun-21 09:03:26

Good Morning everyone from a soon to be scorchio! South of France.

Here I am not in the best of moods since my antihistamine has failed to curb the insane itching all over. I have almost bites on bites due to a long stint in the garden accompanied by our June scourge: thousands of tiny, almost invisible biting things! (Despite the insect repellant).

At the end of the afternoon yesterday we had, out of nowhere, a sudden deluge. You know when enormous spots of rain on the hot ground make the air smell wonderful? Well, even though I ran for the door, I was still pretty wet in seconds. The rain fell in torrents. Thought that might have slowed down the insects an hour later when all was dry again….but no. They’re still out there. So a bad night fidgeting and scratching and it looks as if I shall need to stay inside until my skin feels and is better.

Nothing at all to complain about really, but I hate not being able to find a solution to something so simple. Well, it seems simple. Maybe not! Perhaps I shall be a Fox and go sit in the pool submerged up to my nose. They do that in water to rid themselves of fleas etc., I may do it in order to spend some time outside. Gardening will be a challenge, though!

Sounds as if life - and sunny weather - is on the up for lots of you. Fingers crossed that improvements continue. What a wait we’ve all had.

Sending love to Cherry and also to EllanV. Anyone unwell, wishing you positivity and patience and a return to health. Hoping that grandmajet is recovering and that other missing posters are just taking a break or are away. Enjoy it if you are - and post a photo? Tempt us all with tales of travel perhaps.

Just take care whatever you’re up to. And enjoy every moment.
Every good wish - but definitely no hugs today - from your permanently scratching French correspondent.

Good morning all from Pitlochry, thanks * Jaxjacky* for staring the thread. I lost my first post, written as the Caledonian Sleeper to Inverness passed at 6.15! ?

Just to let you all know, that Mick appears to have de-registered his account. I only know this because GNHQ suggested I asked him to contact them, using his personal email account and he can't receive PMs. Maw has been doing sterling work trying to help * Mick* get back on line. It can be a bit daunting, its a shame no-one lives near * Mick*

Well, we didn't have a very auspicious start to our holiday. Problems with our car on a single carriageway, roadworks and no stopping places!
DD arrived two hours late, major problem with their brand new car, which almost prevented them from boarding the ferry in Orkney.
The toilet wouldn't work and we had no toilet rolls! A very embarrassing visit to the crowded hotel bar for a stiff drink to secure toilet rolls. Its hard to be heard, when you are masked! ?

I keep losing the posts. I will be back later!!?

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where we have a blue sky although it’s still quite cool.
We are off to Norfolk in the campa tomorrow where it could be considerably warmer!
Today will be spent getting as much ready as possible so we can get an early ish start tomorrow, and giving the house a good clean and the garden a thorough watering.
Marydoll - “please can I have some pepper sent to my room”
Certainly M’am, black pepper or white pepper? “Toilet pepper”
Sorry! I saw that when I was looking for a birthday card recently.
Take care everyone and stay safe ???

Gelisajams Sat 12-Jun-21 09:27:20

Grandmafrench, have you tried sodium bicarbonate mixed to a thick paste to sooth your itching?
