Doodle my RA consultant wasn't sure. He said there is research going on at the moment to see whether it would be better to have a different vaccine from the previous two. Also finding ways to deliver the vaccine is problematic, so who knows???
Its a waiting game.

Doodle Sat 07-Aug-21 21:03:17

Marydoll it would be nice for you to have plans to look forward to. Do you know when the third jab/jag might be available?

Doodle Sat 07-Aug-21 21:01:13

Dear soop the ladies (!) from the Argy are delighted to accept your kind invitation to attend your 80th birthday party tomorrow.
We will be on our best behaviour (to begin with).
As it’s a very special occasion, we will be bringing with us our best poteen called Jet Set, brewed by AGA and named in honour of our friend grandmajet.
brook will be doing her best to keep us in order (as well as doing quality control of all the food and drinks ?)
Muse will be providing her speciality pasties.
The Can Can might be performed if requested. We might even be able to bring Sir Tom Jones with us and George Clooney….but only if we can find out where grandmabatty has hidden them.
ixion will be providing decorations …..and anything else she can purloin find that would be useful.
I have heard Lemon might make an appearance on the arm of Lord Lemongrove (if she can find him that is) .
Unfortunately, (depending on how you look at it) I won’t be able to perform my world famous pole dance, as since I got my leg stuck in the air doing the can can and had to have it winched down by the firemen, I’ve not been the same since.
Hope it will be a lovely day for you and a night to remember. x

Well I haven’t been to Inveraray for 60 years MD! Would love to go again. Like you, I (we) wouldn’t get insurance to travel abroad but I’d love to see more of the UK. Here’s hoping …

Marydoll Sat 07-Aug-21 20:45:50

Hellogirl, Inverary is only an hour and a half a way from us and it's a straight run all the way. I just need to convince Mr MDoll! I could pop in to see Soop and Macsporran. I haven't seen them since the Edinburgh Santa episode, when Soop led me astray, hussy that she is!! blush

Now, that I can no longer get travel insurance, I have a list of places in the UK I wish to see, but am afraid to stray too far from home at the moment. I have been advised to wait for my third jag before I'm allowed to stay in a hotel or use public transport and I must still socially distance, because my immune system is compromised.
DD has booked a cottage in Anstruther in a few week's time, so I may have a sneaky few days there.

Doodle Sat 07-Aug-21 20:40:23

corner I am sorry about your friend. Glad you were able to spend some time with her. I’m also sorry to hear your silk flowers from your parent’s grave have vanished. ?
Pleased to hear you had a lovely afternoon with your family to lift your spirits a bit. ?

Hellogirl1 Sat 07-Aug-21 19:58:14

Marydoll, there were 4 of us, we had what they call the garden suite, 2 rooms, one with sofa and chairs and TV, plus a large double bed and dressing table, then up a few steps to a bedroom with twin beds and a wardrobe, plus a small shower room/toilet. It also had a little entrance lobby where I kept my mobility scooter, and exited into the garden. Soop and Mr Soop came back for a look, I think they liked it.

Marydoll Sat 07-Aug-21 18:47:55

Hellogirl, I've checked out Brambles, it looks lovely!

Now I fancy a trip to Inverary! I haven't been there in over twenty years.

Hellogirl1 Sat 07-Aug-21 18:09:28

We stayed at Brambles, but the food at the George was fantastic, so good we went back the following day.
Welcome back BladeAnnie, good to see you again.
Soop, enjoy your evening out. Are you going to The Royal?

muse Sat 07-Aug-21 15:39:52

?Welcome back BladeAnnie. Now I’m wishing I had put crumpets in the Sainsbury’s order that’s just arrived. I wonder if I put a few sultanas on a slice of sourdough, it will pass for a teacake.

The kitchen will be a positive hive of well behaved frivolity tomorrow. Please pop back and linger. ?

Marydoll Sat 07-Aug-21 14:51:20

Soop,I thought it was The George, but obviously my stalking has failed miserably. They are in The Loch Fyne Spa, being pampered! ?

soop Sat 07-Aug-21 14:45:22

Marydoll Are they staying at The George? Baggs and I often wine and dined there.

Happy 7th birthday party to Oscar. Hope that it is enormous fun.

I need to make the house look at it's best for tomorrow. Therefore, I'm about to clean right through. After which, a shower and pamper myself in readiness for a meal out with friends tonight. I shall most certainly not be bithee bithee on my birthday. That's a promise.

If our Argy pals wish to drop in for potent cocktail and a tasty buffet tomorrow, they are most welcome. Until we meet again (at whatever time I am "with it") I wish you all a very good day. Thank you for your company. smile moon

Grandmabatty Sat 07-Aug-21 14:18:29

Enjoy the birthday party Yiayia

Yiayia4 Sat 07-Aug-21 13:54:18

We are going to Oscars 7th birthday party this afternoon, leaving Harper with toys and treats!Fingers crossed all will be well.?
Pleased your DH is pain free Grandmafrench hope your are too.
Back later.

Marydoll Sat 07-Aug-21 13:10:35

Soop, I was tracking them, stalker that I am. I happened to check and they were just past the village. Safely in their hotel in Inverary, now I can stop fretting!

soop Sat 07-Aug-21 13:03:44

A warm welcome back, BladeAnnie, not forgetting Duncan. I'm very partial to a crumpet oozing real butter. Thank you.

Marydoll Had I known sooner, I would have waited outside the house and waved and cheered as your daughter and son-in-law passed through the village.

Grandmabatty Sat 07-Aug-21 10:34:29

Hello BladeAnnie. Nice to see you back. Grandmafrench that's good news about your husband. I'm off to make a lemon drizzle cake on pregnant daughter's orders.

Marydoll Sat 07-Aug-21 10:29:18

Good morning, Soop! My daughter and SIL have just passed through your village. I've asked them to give you a wave from me!

BladeAnnie Sat 07-Aug-21 08:55:50

Can I pop back to the kitchen please after my little absence? I can bring crumpets and teacakes for breakfast/brunch ?. I haven't followed during my absence at all so unsure what all you lovely people have been up to and how the world has been treating you - but I felt it's now the right time to return to the ever-welcoming fold. Duncan says hello ? too

muse Fri 06-Aug-21 23:04:28

Late call from me too. Such sad news about your neighbour corner. Then to find the flowers taken.?

That dog is gorgeous Yiayia .

MrM reports slight improvement but one leg is still very painful. Nurse insists it will take time?and has put a different dressing on.

Good news about your DH's leg Grandmafrench.

I think I shall have to get the rollers out soop and smarten myself up for the birthday bash. My hair is looking decidedly limp. Wet rag comes to mind.

I'm up for a karaoke session with those excellent tunes on the juke-box. Oh! I was at the the Argy Bargy tonight. Had to drop off some of my spicy pasties. There were whisperings that a few of them might possibly be dropping by on Sunday with a gentleman called Sir Tom Jones! Apparently he can belt out a good tune or two.

Can we have balloons and party poppers please??

Jaxjacky Fri 06-Aug-21 21:45:37

Late one from me kitcheners, corner sad news, you must have happy memories.
Don’t mention weeds here people, I’m cultivating them, a useless crop, the weather today has been sun/rain/warm/chilly, fleece off, fleece on.
Anyway, we’re stuffed with Indian takeaway, MrJ is off to his golf tomorrow, not a serious completion apparently, yea right. I’ll be practicing the time warp for the party, whilst making cheese straws, sausage rolls (there will be veg I too), mini quiche and stuffed jalapeños. PARTY! ??‍♀️?, x

Yiayia4 Fri 06-Aug-21 19:16:41

Evening Kitcheners.Dh and Harper have been caught in the rain today, puddles everywhere.!!We decamp to the conservatory when we have Harper, his fur sticks to everything so it’s much easier to clean.
Soop I’m practising my belly dancing and Zorbas for Sunday can’t wait.?
pleased you had a good result Muse.
Have a good evening all.

brook2704 Fri 06-Aug-21 17:52:35

Sorry to hear the sad news about your neighbour cornergran and then to find the flowers were taken. An upsetting start to your day yesterday but I’m so pleased and happy that you enjoyed your time with the family later.

Sounds like you’ve got a lovely GP there grandmafrench I expect it makes all the difference. Talking about weeds though I know exactly what you mean - they spring up everywhere here too and I’m sure they just pop up overnight without warning. I’ll probably be joining you in the weeding chore tomorrow morning

I’ve been dodging the rain showers here today, in and out of the garden and alternating between that and tidying the garage. I’m in now though but DH is still outside jet washing the driveway as it’s a good job for when it’s raining as he gets so wet anyhow. He’ll be straight in the shower and all his clothes straight into the washer when he comes in!

Looking forward to your birthday celebrations soop , I’ll pop into the Argy and hide the poteen so inviting all the Argy Bargie-ites should be fine. As well as Doodles errr pole dancing I’ve heard they do a mean Can Can too!

Grandmafrench Fri 06-Aug-21 17:26:25

Hello Kitchen types

Hope everyone is feeling well and optimistic - lots of summer time left yet. So good to hear about visits and gatherings and outings. Just hope everyone is still being careful, though. My Doc said this afternoon that we need to stay vigilant. (I know, different country, but when you have lots of people on the move at holiday time, some are not as careful as they should be!)

So sad to finally hear the news you were expecting, corner, but how lovely that she benefitted from having you as neighbours. Supporting each other in times of hardship and sorrow is such a good thing to do. I would have had a small 'turn' at the loss of the flowers, but on the other hand rising above actions so low and having taken along replacements.....well, it's the only way to deal with it.

All good ideas, soop - and you are a dear but don't need to water down your day by sharing it with me! Whatever next. I shall be pleased to join in with your bash, though, if I may. I was going to suggest that the very dear (but norty) Argybargygang would be a nice addition to the party - as long as you made sure that dear Doodle is coming. Then you go and spoil that good behaviour guarantee by telling us that she might Pole Dance! So, maybe not the best influence on the others? Who do we know who can do crowd control and can use a big stick if necessary? I shall leave you to ponder that one. What alcoholic beverages will be on offer? None of that paint stripper stuff by the yard, please. This is a special day, we need to up the quality a bit so what about raiding Sweetie Pie's huge food fund for extra cash. She won't mind. ?‍⬛

DH is in our kitchen - in his happy place - preparing supper. He has been almost running a stopwatch until allowed to get up and walk properly again. 48 hours post treatment! However, he's painfree, so as long as I clean the litter trays and do the bins - and nice girly things like that - he's hoping to be fine.

Had a lovely chat with my GP. She is so kind and compassionate and can't do enough to help or take away her patients' anxieties. Today she made me laugh and announced that she needed to get some job satisfaction sometimes, 'which is why I'm talking to you instead of racing through the queue', she said. Some ingrate had been very rude to her, it seems, so that had made her a bit fed up.

I was taken aback when I got out of my car this afternoon at the numbers of weeds which have just sprung into action during this last week when we have deserted our plants for medical matters elsewhere. Just one week? They're easily pulled, but are beginning to look quite meaningful, so that's a job for the morning I think.

Hope you all have a restful end to Friday and are looking forward to the weekend. Hugs to absent posters, bigger hugs to those in attendance plus a wave from across the Channel and down a lot.

Stay safe chaps! ??

soop Fri 06-Aug-21 16:35:00

I shall return tomorrow. Wish to goodness that I had made a hair appointment. Mine is somewhat bushy. I shall shampoo and attempt to tame it. smile moon
