Welcome to Thread II!

We companionably mused, gossiped and waffled about Royalty, and vaguely related things for 1000 posts!

Starting with names; and ending on them them…
and in between covered everything from Adam Faith to Scottish Country Dancing!

So, as before, God Bless this Ship and All who Sail in her! ??

Blossoming Sat 17-Jul-21 18:24:58

Is this christening actually happening, or is it a rumour?

FannyCornforth Sat 17-Jul-21 18:28:01

There are loads of RF based shows on 5 this evening
The one about William and Harry is one and a half hours long
As is the one about Charles and Diana’s wedding
In fact, I think that is worth taping

maddyone Sat 17-Jul-21 18:29:12

Who knows Blossoming, but it is traditional for the RF to get their babies Christened in an Anglican Church, so that wouldn’t be surprising. But to try to cash in on the royal connection again is so poor. There are perfectly good churches in America.

maddyone Sat 17-Jul-21 18:30:24

I might have to watch on the Hub, my husband isn’t a great fan of royal family programmes.

maddyone Sat 17-Jul-21 18:30:40

Anyway we’re going out to eat shortly.

Anniebach

Agree Sparklefizz and how they forgive the racist family who
kept Meg a prisoner and refused help when she was suicidal ?

Ghastly couple

I believe she was kept in the Tower, under guard and her passport and driving licence shredded, only allowed out when escorted for special duties like opening fetes etc.
She had to buy her own clothes from Oxfam on the pittance allowed. It was shocking!??

Mollygo Sat 17-Jul-21 20:17:13

Lemongrove where have I been. I missed that bit if the story! grin

Anniebach Sat 17-Jul-21 20:35:43

They would choose Windsor, George and Louis were baptised
in St. James and Charlotte in the Sandringham Church

We mustn’t forget , Meg told Haz she wanted to commit suicide the same evening they went to a do in the Albert Hall,
so brave, put on her makeup, posh frock and even mixed with
guests after the do.

maddyone Sat 17-Jul-21 21:01:43

I have suffered from depression and so I know a bit about it. No way was she feeling suicidal and then going out and smiling. I know about smiling depression but no one goes from suicidal depression to smiling depression in an hour. She’s been caught out with so many lies, this is just another one. She plays the victim and cries crocodile tears. She’s an actress.

Bluebellwould Sat 17-Jul-21 21:11:17

I’ve had marmalade on toast in Windsor castle!

maddyone Sat 17-Jul-21 23:10:29

Bluebellwould, are you accusing me of untruths?

What about the lovely bishop who gave a sermon at Meghan and Harry's wedding?

Bishop Michael Curry, he was great and could make a christening service such fun.

maddyone Sat 17-Jul-21 23:28:29

Haha Callistemon, you could very well be right. Somehow I don’t think he’ll quite fit Meghan’s bill though.
After the three days earlier debacle I somehow think the Archbishop of Canterbury won’t be first in the queue to Christen the baby either. He’ll heave a sigh of relief and let someone else do it I imagine.

Bluebellwould Sat 17-Jul-21 23:56:42

Maddyone, why would the true story of me eating marmalade on toast in Windsor castle’s dining room be a comment against you? I was in the police and was covering Order of the Garter ceremony and we all had breakfast before it started. Just thought I would throw in a random comment.

maddyone Sun 18-Jul-21 00:04:35

Oh my word, I apologise then. Many apologies. I really thought you didn’t believe I knew about depression, which I really wish I didn’t. It’s a horrible condition. I didn’t think you really did eat toast and marmalade in Windsor Castle. I’m glad you did, sorry misunderstanding on my part.
But what a story to tell the grandchildren.

Bluebellwould Sun 18-Jul-21 00:12:53

Hi Maddyone, sorry about all that. I know quite a bit about depression too and I am sorry you are feeling down. I agree with you about Megan’s surprisingly cheerful appearance after her ‘suicidal’ thoughts. I always thought it strange that she suffered with those thoughts during pregnancy, just the same way her mother in law had. Talk about rubbing Harry’s nose in it. It’s very coincidental and to me it suggested a deliberate manipulation of Harry.

Blossoming

Is this christening actually happening, or is it a rumour?

Doesn’t matter !

Rosycheeks Sun 18-Jul-21 06:27:09

On the news this morning they said that Harry and Megan would like to have the christening over here(uk) in front of the Queen.
How do we know that? Did someone hear them talking about it over breakfast then leak it to the press? I dont think so. Also now they have put that out they have put the Queen in a very difficult postion. If she refuses she looks bad to all the M and H fans, and they will go on Oprah again saying look I told you so everything we said was true about the RF. I bet the Queen is fuming. What a conniving pair they are.

Calendargirl Sun 18-Jul-21 07:21:05

If the Queen didn’t attend Archie’s christening when they were living close by at Windsor, I can’t imagine it would look odd if she didn’t attend this one.

As someone said upthread, let the baby be christened in USA, preferably by the bishop who lectured at their wedding about the meaning of lurve.

An update would be timely.

Sparklefizz Sun 18-Jul-21 08:27:11

^We mustn’t forget , Meg told Haz she wanted to commit suicide the same evening they went to a do in the Albert Hall,
so brave, put on her makeup, posh frock and even mixed with
guests after the do.^

Also she said that as soon as the lights went down at that function, she sat there with tears rolling down her face although it seems the person sitting the other side of her noticed nothing, and Meghan must have quietly repaired all her makeup in time for the lights to go up again grin and for her to socialise. grin

trisher Sun 18-Jul-21 08:51:17

So all of you poor people suffering from depression didn't have to work while you were ill? Well weren't you lucky! Many of us put on our best face, got the kids ready for school and went out to earn our daily bread just like Meghan did. It's a mistake to think you can read anyone's mental health from the face they present to the public, for some of us it's a professional necessity to look OK. And let's not forget she was an actress so she's used to playing a part. Making someone's mental health the subject of jokes for your own amusement isn't acceptable.
I wonder how you would have felt if I had turned up during your depression and told you to "Cheer up". You would have regarded that s unacceptable. Well so are remarks about someone not looking unhappy. Each case of depression is different and you have absolutely no right to judge anyone.

Lucca Sun 18-Jul-21 08:53:46

“ Making someone's mental health the subject of jokes for your own amusement isn't acceptable.”. Unless it is Meghan of course, then all bets are off.

Anniebach Sun 18-Jul-21 09:00:53

Yes she is an actress , Bette Davis was brilliant in ‘Hush,Hush
Sweet Charlotte ‘ too

Lucca Sun 18-Jul-21 09:26:00

Don’t understand what a 1964 horror film has to do with it

Sparklefizz Sun 18-Jul-21 09:26:52

Meghan has been caught out in so many lies and exaggerations that it's hard to believe a word she says which is why I mentioned her claim to have cried all the way through the performance ... there is no way she could have done that without (a) people around her noticing and discreetly helping her away somewhere more private, and (b) repairing all her makeup which would have needed to be done, because she was shown socialising afterwards looking immaculate.

I have been depressed and suffered from panic attacks myself, and have had to put on "a brave face", and would always respect someone else's feelings, but M always has to embellish her stories. I have never claimed to cry for a couple of hours when it is patently not true.
