Bad start to the day !

I know this will sound petty compared to some of the problems other Gransnetters will be facing, but I just want a moan !
Overslept as I was up twice during the night due to me drinking more water. I felt a bit confused the other day after getting a bit mixed up in the kitchen when I managed to lose a baked potato !
I have to use those tong grabber things to help me get dressed and then found I’d put my knickers on back to front. After spending ages getting them off I managed to put on a pair that were too small as I’ve put on weight since my accident. I thought I’d chucked all the smaller ones out but this swine of a pair had managed to hide under my new fatty knickers.
Third time lucky but exhausted and had to sit on the bed. Put same top on as yesterday then realise when I’m brushing my hair ( what’s left of it ) that my top is inside out !
I’m knackered before I can even get one step at a time downstairs !
Anyone else started their day badly today ? Maybe it’s an omen that England will win ?

LauraNorder Sun 11-Jul-21 09:56:33

If wearing your top inside out makes England win and good things happen then I say get those seams on show, knickers too if it helps.
Hope your day gets better.

That’s all the bad stuff for the day over in one go. From now on the day will be fabulous!

Re the potato, I once lost a ham sandwich on my way out to work. It turned up months later in a box of Christmas decorations ?

And you think you were confused?

Blossoming Sun 11-Jul-21 10:06:44

Sounds like a normal start to my days Infinity2 grin. I once managed to get myself tangled in a dress with a lining and had to call Mr. B to get me out of it again. I also put a T-shirt on inside out and didn’t notice until my physio pointed it out. I have learned that it’s best to take my time to get up, washed and dressed.

We all have days like that ? . Hope the day continues well for you ..

Grandma70s Sun 11-Jul-21 10:08:33

I feel I’ve started the day badly because I am very worried about my grandson who is not happy at his new school, and all the football fuss makes me angry. I’m just generally in a really bad mood.

Kim19 Sun 11-Jul-21 10:11:43

I2, it can only get better! Enjoy!

timetogo2016 Sun 11-Jul-21 10:12:27

My bad starts from Monday to Sunday.
I` have lost a bag of peas and toothpaste and brushes
And that was in the last 2 days.

Mollygo Sun 11-Jul-21 10:14:56

Infinity2, hope things get better for the rest of the day.

You lost a baked potato! Did you find it?

I lost a bottle of gin last week?. After taking it and the tonic off the shelf I realised there was only a small amount of gin left so off I trot to get another bottle from our wine cellar cupboard in the hut outside. Storage space in cottage is at a minimum. Came back and got side tracked with dinner prep. Prep finished, I opened the new bottle of gin and made our G+Ts. I realised at that point the other bottle wasn't there. I still haven't found it.

Sometimes it's the little things that can drive us mad, Infinity2, so I sympathise.
This morning after my shower I could not find my towelling bath robe which hangs behind the bathroom door. It drove me mad looking for it while still damp. Eventually I found it hanging behind the bedroom door instead. I never put it there!! So how did it get there? Am I going loopy?
I hope the rest of your day is happy and peaceful, Infinity.

Luckygirl Sun 11-Jul-21 10:34:39

Sorry OP but I have this comic vision of you trying to get your knickers on! I am sorry your day has started badly; but, take heart, it has made me smile

Infinity2 Sun 11-Jul-21 10:37:58

Thank you for all your kind and encouraging words !
Yes the day has improved a lot as I’m about to do some handbag shopping thanks to a tip from Marydoll.
muse - my baked potato did turn up, as I found it back in the microwave ! It seems I’d cooked it, taken it out, then had forgotten I’d cooked it, and must have put it back in again. I don’t know how I was stupid enough to do it because the plate must have been warm. But I did.
Or the fairies did it ?

Grandmabatty Sun 11-Jul-21 10:41:03

I went to Aldi a couple of weeks ago with my trousers back to front so I feel your pain. ?

Rosycheeks Sun 11-Jul-21 10:41:43

If I lose anything I ask St Anthony to help me find it. It sounds mad but it always works. a friend of mine lost his wedding ring for weeks, I told him to ask St Anthony and it turned up in the washing about half an hour after he asked.
Dont think Im crazy, try it.

Kamiso Sun 11-Jul-21 10:47:51

I thought it would be a good idea to freshen up the popadums in the toaster. It wasn’t. We now know we need new batteries in the smoke alarm.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 11-Jul-21 10:51:22

Rosycheeks I am not Catholic but I also ask for help finding things from St.Anthony!

Infinity2 things can only get better, I constantly lose things and DH and AC always laugh!

Shelflife Sun 11-Jul-21 10:51:58

Rosy cheeks, so glad it's not just me . I always ask St Anthony to help when I loose things . My Mum taught me that and she was not a religious person . She always said " You must say please and always remember to thank him when your lost item is found" it really is amazing how often it works!
Granma70s, sorry to know your grandson is not happy in his new school. I do hope he settles down soon. I know how worried for him you must be. Sometimes a child and his/ her school are simply not a good fit . Having said that in time things may change and he will love his new environment! Good luck.

Tizliz Sun 11-Jul-21 10:53:09

It is so frustrating when things go wrong, and the harder you try to put it right the worse it gets. Don’t know the answer.

Kamiso Sun 11-Jul-21 10:53:16

We used to ask St Anthony for help as well. If he falls on hard times he could get a job in a lost property office. He nearly always comes up trumps.

Alizarin Sun 11-Jul-21 10:53:25

I wear my knickers inside out every day at the moment Infinity, so that the seams don't rub on my hip replacementwinkwink scars.

LauraNorder Sun 11-Jul-21 10:58:15

If England win tonight Alizarin, it will be you, not Harry Kane, that we thank.

Deedaa Sun 11-Jul-21 11:05:49

I put on some very nice new knickers because I was going to have to strip off for a physiotherapist. It wasn't till I was getting dressed again that I realised my fancy knickers were inside out. From glamorous granny to poor old soul who can't dress herself in an instant!

Infinity2 Sun 11-Jul-21 11:12:11

Alizarin - since you are a regular for wearing your undies inside out LauraNorder is right ! If we win tonight I was going to say you’ll be the toast of England !
But I think that honour goes to Kamiso with her nuked popadoms. It looks like you’ve shoved two brown paper bags in your toaster and set them on fire !
Even I can’t do that ? ( as my toaster is broken ! ).

LauraNorder Sun 11-Jul-21 11:16:48

I am reliably informed that one can buy a colourful Smeg toaster for a mere £500. Not sure if it’s any better for nuking popadoms.
