Bad start to the day !

I know this will sound petty compared to some of the problems other Gransnetters will be facing, but I just want a moan !
Overslept as I was up twice during the night due to me drinking more water. I felt a bit confused the other day after getting a bit mixed up in the kitchen when I managed to lose a baked potato !
I have to use those tong grabber things to help me get dressed and then found I’d put my knickers on back to front. After spending ages getting them off I managed to put on a pair that were too small as I’ve put on weight since my accident. I thought I’d chucked all the smaller ones out but this swine of a pair had managed to hide under my new fatty knickers.
Third time lucky but exhausted and had to sit on the bed. Put same top on as yesterday then realise when I’m brushing my hair ( what’s left of it ) that my top is inside out !
I’m knackered before I can even get one step at a time downstairs !
Anyone else started their day badly today ? Maybe it’s an omen that England will win ?

Aldom Sun 11-Jul-21 11:21:07

Well thanks everyone for cheering me up this morning. I'm just off to change my knickers to inside out so that England will win ⚽???????. Seriously, I hope the young boy will either settle in his new school, or that a more suitable school will be found for him. I nearly drove myself mad the other day looking for my very small, cross body bag. Without it I could not go out, keys, cards etc., inside. Ten minutes of running around the house and I finally noticed the bag, tucked against the arm of the sofa.

I went to work one day and after the staff meeting I realised I had odd shoes on…..one with a heel one without! As I walked back to the classroom I realised I had my skirt on inside out!
Hope everyone’s day improves.

midgey - that’s hilarious ! It’s the fact that no one mentioned/ noticed in the staff meeting ! And how was Boris that morning ? ?

Grandmabatty Sun 11-Jul-21 13:11:41

Midget that reminds me of a teacher colleague. She was always immaculately presented, clothes, hair and makeup. We used to wonder at how she managed it until one day she parked her car, got out and then immediately got back in and zoomed off. We all thought someone was ill. When she came back she told us that she always put her skirt on last to avoid creases. This day she had totally forgotten and jumped into the car in her underskirt. Only when she felt a breeze and looked down did she realise. It gave us all a laugh as she was so particular.

Grandmabatty Sun 11-Jul-21 13:12:11

Midgey sorry, it changed it twice.

Well, reading this has cheered me up. Today had one of those starts. 11 month old dog decided to help herself to half eaten raisin and cinnamon bagel. Raisins can cause acute kidney failure in dogs so DD arranges someone else to take DGS to football tournament while she takes dog to vet. We meanwhile are to take DGD to her play date. Just about to leave but Tesco’s ring to say round corner can they deliver early. Just as well as we thought they were delivering this pm and would have been taking DGD to friend’s. So have to sort out frozen and cold stuff so further delay. Then try to follow DD’s directions to friend’s and get lost.
However, all well now. DGD back from a lovely play. Dog home after being injected to make her sick. All we have to do is get a urine sample from her on Tuesday. That should be fun!

If I lose anything I ask St Anthony to help me find it. It sounds mad but it always works. a friend of mine lost his wedding ring for weeks, I told him to ask St Anthony and it turned up in the washing about half an hour after he asked.
Dont think Im crazy, try it.

I’m in the house but I have lost my hearing aid so I am going to ask Saint Anthony as no way can I find it!!

Rosycheeks Sun 11-Jul-21 13:56:38

Shinamae.. hope you find it! Let us know it St.Anthony helps.

Whoever said it can only get better ( I’m looking at you Kim19 ) fibbed !!
Just cut my toe on my clothes airer folding it down. Tiny little scrape but for me reaching my right foot is the same as me planning to climb Everest - totally impossible. Getting dressed grabbers too long and difficult to manoeuvre so ended up with cotton wool soaked in TCP gripped in a pair of scissors. That seems to have done the trick but have given up trying to put a plaster on in case I end up in A & E.
My creative afternoon reframing a picture I found in a charity shop hasn’t gone to plan as I couldn’t get those metal grippy bits bent up to get the back off. This resulted in the scissors slipping and I have gouged a big scratch on the top of my sideboard. Then found I’d actually broken the glass in the picture frame. Luckily it was face down but then had to faff trying to find newspaper and sellotape to wrap it all up for the bin.
But the picture looks nice in the new frame so I’m pleased.
That’s me done for the day.
I’m going to have a bag of crisps and then a nap.
Hopefully the stink of TCP will have dissipated before the football !

infinity it sounds like one of those days when you should have stayed in bed, (a pillow wrapped around your head?)
Hope tomorrow starts a bit better.

I am joining the ranks of bad start to day!

Back tooth broke - rang dentist - got appointment for 10.45 - set off at 10, as I live in the middle of nowhere. Lane out of village closed; so had to turn down a tiny weeny windy one-track (just!) lane with big ditch at the side. Met 6 other cars coming the other way and 4 behind me. They were all in the same boat - and there were lots of them as Mums getting children to school which was starting late because of last night's football match. Tried to reverse up the lane - this is not my best skill I freely admit. I spent ages trying to do this without falling into ditch and with my reversing sensor screaming at me. Eventually a very nice chap offered to do it for me, which he did. I have to day that the positive in all of this was that everyone involved was polite and helpful and no-one lost their temper - very heartening.

Rang dentist on mobile and they delayed appointment as I was very late by this time.

Got to town - and the bridge I needed to go over was closed! So more jiggery-pokery to fond somewhere near enough to park as I do not have great mobility.

Tried to use credit card - failed. It would not accept PIN. Headed for my bank to sort this out and they were closed due to Covid! Tried to use card in another bank's cashpoint - more failures, then it locked me out completely.

Saw dentist - tooth filled - hooray!

Got home - rang bank who said I must be putting the wrong pin in - pointed out that they had told me to check PIN via the app, which I have done on several occasions because there have been problems, and it says the PIN I am using is correct. Solution........they are going to send a new card and PIN and my card is now closed to all transactions, live and online - so I will not be able to do my shopping.

I think I will go back to bed now!........oh no.........got to pick GS up from school..........

Luckygirl - poor you !! What an awful start to the day ! Hope you’re feeling a bit less stressed now and your tooth has settled. Make sure you take some paracetamol.
But - I am forced to say this -
Don’t you think you are tempting fate with your user tag !!!!

Infinity2 Mon 12-Jul-21 13:53:21

Grandma70s - hope you feel less agitated today. Try not to worry - if your grandson continues to be unhappy, maybe his parents could see about moving him. ????

Infinity2 Mon 12-Jul-21 14:03:36

Nandalot - hope the dog is OK ???

DanniRae Mon 12-Jul-21 14:13:51

I have somehow lost one of my shoes - they are kept in a shoe storage thingy but only one there - so I am going to ask St Anthony to help me find it. I will report back if I am successful smile

I agree. And I must apologise because you both made me laugh, which I really needed. So thank you.

My daughter bought me some lovely old postcards of Florence. I put them somewhere safe until I found a suitable frame, which I have done, but where did I put the postcards??

Rosycheeks Thu 15-Jul-21 12:05:30

Shinamae and DanniRae did you both find your lost items? Ive lots my ipod shuffle my sister brought me one Christmas it was engraved , it is so small I think I threw it out with old till receipts in the bottom of my bag. I did ask St.Anthony but even he couldnt help.

Infinity2 Thu 15-Jul-21 12:31:53

Keep trying, he’s probably exhausted after all the tasks he’s getting just from Gransnet !

Rosycheeks Thu 15-Jul-21 12:45:12

Wish I could find it love to know what songs are on it. Come on St Anthony do your stuff!!!

dogsmother Thu 15-Jul-21 12:50:26

St. Anthony was my mums go to and never seemed to fail……now if I could just remember to ask him pretty sure he wouldn’t let me down either.

DanniRae Thu 15-Jul-21 16:44:37

Hi Rosycheeks - Yes I found my shoe. It was in the shoe store but had fallen off the shelf and was trapped against the canvas wall.
All thanks to St Anthony!!

I 'lost' my pyrex basin, searched in all the places I could think of..It turned up a day or two later when I got a saucepan out of the cupboard, there was the basin, in the saucepan. Going mad I think
