Advantages of greying hair and an air of respectability

This morning I boldly went and did something bold, counting on my greying hair looped up into a bun – it used to be a dancer's bun chignon but now it's just a granny bun ? – to pass it off. It worked a treat.

Now all I have to do is work on my projection of serenity ?

Anyone else finding age can be a useful adjunct?

Not so far Baggs.

I absolutely love being mid-70s - I can (and do) play the "I'm just a little old lady" card which usually gets me a seat on the Tube or help with shopping etc. But I can also spike up the silver hair, put on something brightly coloured or unexpected and have delightful encounters with charming young people who seem to appreciate a smile from an oldie rather than a scowl. So yes, definitely a fun side to being old.

Wonders what Baggs did…..grin

Polly she split an infinitive ?

lemongrove Sun 11-Jul-21 13:55:37

Whatever it was, well done Baggs ....there has to be an upside to being 70+
I get ‘blessed’ rather a lot, to my annoyance.?

In Winter, just wear a tea cosy hat, that should work too.

Hellogirl1 Sun 11-Jul-21 14:32:47

Yes, Lemon, "Bless you" features a lot when folk talk to me as well.

Happy to be blessed as often as anyone wants to do the blessing. It doesn't mean much to me and it does me no harm. Might even help with the serenity ?

Baggs Sun 11-Jul-21 14:38:52

But... sob!... no-one except my Mormon friends ever have. ? ?

Baggs Sun 11-Jul-21 14:41:06

Perhaps I don't generally look as if I need blessing. Must be more serenity about me than I thought ?

You, and most of granset, would be appalled.

Aldom Sun 11-Jul-21 15:45:10

Oh, do tell Bags I'm dying of curiosity!

AGAA4 Sun 11-Jul-21 15:52:08

We like being appalled. Some of us shock

baubles Sun 11-Jul-21 15:55:14

Go on then appall us. I’m sitting down and have the pearls to hand. grin

FarNorth Sun 11-Jul-21 15:57:50

shock Do tell - we won't say anything. wink

lemongrove Sun 11-Jul-21 16:57:24

Come on Baggs you little tease, what did you do? Tell us or speculation will run rife ( in my head it already is doing).

Set about a neighbour’s pesky Leylandii hedge with an axe?
Set about a pesky neighbour with an axe?
Ran topless down the aisle of your church?
Ran topless down the aisle of Waitrose?
Drove a stolen car at 100 miles an hour?

lemongrove Sun 11-Jul-21 16:58:53

Or was it something more mundane...
Pushed your way to the front of a bus queue?
Deliberately stood on the vicar’s foot?

Lisagran Sun 11-Jul-21 17:12:45

Deliberately stood on the vicar’s foot, whilst topless?
Went for your second jab, topless?
Seduced a young neighbour
Seduced an old neighbour
Had a tattoo of Boris Johnson

(The jug’s for you, lemongrove)

lemongrove Sun 11-Jul-21 17:19:10

Thank you Lisa as you know, am full of admiration (and secret envy) for your jugs.?

grannyactivist Sun 11-Jul-21 17:26:07

Never one to withhold a blessing, I hereby ‘Bless you Baggs’ and wish you many more opportunities for emboldement. ?

I hope you’re aware that if you don’t spill the beans your quest for serenity will be fruitless - as pleading grans will pester you mercilessly. ??

grannyactivist Sun 11-Jul-21 17:27:37

Lisagran you have now inspired jug-envy; those flowers are gorgeous.

annodomini Sun 11-Jul-21 18:02:29

Not for the first time, I couldn't find my car in Tesco's car park. I was standing there, looking about me - why are there so many small white cars? - when a nice young woman asked if she could help. I was grateful, but then realised that she saw a white-haired old lady - what, me? (shock) but gratefully accepted her help. Glad to say that I spotted the car myself!

annodomini Sun 11-Jul-21 18:06:30

Go on, Baggs. I've admitted it, how about you?
