we have no shops left locally now Debenhams has gone, are there any recommendations for the best online sites something in the M&S price range.

Nomads is nice stuff and they have a sale on at the moment.

I've bought a lot from MandCo. Lots of choice , reasonable quality and prices. Two friends also use them I lot.

Bon marché and EWM both online

For me Monsoon, Boden, Hush and occasionally Baukjen (expensive, but superb quality, so the garments will outlive me).

My favourite is Walkers.Style. Rather expensive but wonderfully quirky and they have good discounts in their sales plus everything I've bought from them has been an absolute 'keeper'. I can eventually justify the initial eye-watering outlay by knowing the cost-per-wear price is really good.

Damart are surprisingly good - inexpensive - I even have their shoes! All colours and styles - try them!

Uniqlo are the best for basics- T-shirt’s, jeans, sweatshirts , linen shirts and dresses. Reasonable prices and good quality and reductions. Cos good in the sale.

A company called Kettlewell has filled my wardrobe in the past few years. Bright colours, not heavily patterned. Pack wonderfully

I’m a larger lady and I buy from
Box2
Ulla Popken
Sea salt
100 hundred stars
Froxx

Unfortunately there’s not many places that cater for us larger ladies anymore so we might end up walking around in our birthday suits if they keep closing our stores down!

I like Gudron S and White Stuff. John Lewis are excellent. I often buy shoes from Hotter. Their size 4 fits me perfectly.

Welshy Mon 26-Jul-21 13:45:08

George Asda and other supermarkets like Morrisons Nutmeg & Sainsburys Tu (I think someone else mentioned that one) They also sell Tu clothing at Argos.

NEXT they have loads off brands on their website, they even sell Tesco's F&F clothing.

Matalan, Peacocks, New Look

All the above are online too.

Online ... Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins, Zalando.

I am another Joe Browns lover and also Seasalt. I am an average size but due to a condition called lipodoema, l am smaller at all top than bottom and my hips are particularly affected so I need fairly fitted or skimming designs - no loose, floaty numbers for me because I will drown in them and any semblance of figure would be lost altogether. I like Fat Face and Sainsbury’s TU too. M and S are fine for underwear but seem to have lost their way in other clothing. I think they have been trying to court a younger market that does not usually shop there while forgetting their core 40+ customers. The problem l had trying to buy a basic pink summer cardigan! I could not afford to buy many clothes from the brands I mostly like but eBay is brilliant if you know your size as you can buy new with or without tags or nearly new at a fraction of the price you would normally pay.

Very happy with anything I've got from Sahara, Seasalt, Gudrun Sjogen , the last very good for me as I live in the EU and don't have to pay taxes or wait ages for delivery Also like Poetry for plain, wear-for -ever linens. I used to be obsessed with Toast, and bought a lot from them, but they seem to have lost that" oooh I must have that" factor. And now very expensive. Lately I've been disappointed rather than thrilled with my purchases from them. Anyone else agree ? Same goes for Boden, and there's too much polyester.Still great for swimwear though.

I mostly shop at Roman Originals online. Modern, elegant clothes for all occasions with mostly non iron fabrics.

Maggiemaybe Mon 26-Jul-21 14:02:17

Thanks, Welshy, I didn't know that and I've missed the F & F stuff since Tesco stopped selling it online. I used to get some good bargains from them.

You can buy M & S on line, and collect it from an M & S foodstore if you have one nearby, to avoid delivery charge.

Welshy Mon 26-Jul-21 14:13:36

Maggiemaybe, me too.
Just go on the NEXT site click on 'Brands' at the top and you will find them there.

Susieq62 Mon 26-Jul-21 14:53:54

White Stuff, La Redoute, Next, Biden, Phase Eight, Tu, John Lewis but some I only buy in the sales!

narrowboatnan Mon 26-Jul-21 15:00:33

I’m a size 18-20 and buy on line from:

Sainsbury’s (Tu)
M & S
Cotton Traders (for those crop top bra alternatives)
Fashion world (occasionally)

I get my DH’s polo tops from M & S and Sainsbury’s as well. He’s a size XXL

62Granny Mon 26-Jul-21 15:01:06

I like Roman originals and Klass, also Bon Marche I have had good selection of clothes from all 3.

I have used Next a lot more now their range of Brands is so extensive.
Delivery service is brilliant, the only drawback. I usually wait for places such as Boden to send voucher codes. Which you can’t use at Next.

Toddleo Mon 26-Jul-21 15:22:36

Another seasalt vote from me - their trouser collection caters really well for the pear shaped among us.
I also love Landsend, Roman originals, Esprit, Sainsburys Tu and Kettlewell Colours which I have not seen anyone mention yet.

marq66 Mon 26-Jul-21 15:24:27

Great question and brilliant suggestions! I plan to make a list of all your ideas as this discussion has encouraged me beyond my familiar M&S. Thank you ladies!

Sara1954 That is true and you never seem to get any voucher codes off NEXT just their occasional sales.

I like Hobbs and Boden, they have good sales too.
