Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry but with grey cloud here in brackley this morning.
Yesterday I received confirmation of a trip by coach a week this Saturday to London ,although price wise it had fallen , numbers wise it does not look as though many will go.
Today for me , small early shop ,and then stay in today.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning, one and all from an overcast Torbay.

Not much brighter indoors as I awoke to a text from olddudders to say he is back in hospital, on IV morphine. We both really appreciated the kind, supportive comments from you all yesterday and I know you will be thinking of us.

My fervent hope is that he is kept in hospital whilst being fully investigated. I know you probably wonder why I’m not rushing to book my ferry across but I can’t for the moment due to commitments and appointments here which we’ve agreed I shouldn’t cancel.

I’ll keep you posted on developments and wish you all a good weekend, with particular thoughts of those with worries of their own. ?

Morning Mick, morning All from a bright, breezy corner of Somerset. It feels as if Autumn is here this morning.

Goodness, Ash, you must be more than worried. It’s incredibly hard not to be with someone we love when they are unwell. Love to you both and a hope for some better news over the weekend.

It’s been a funny old week here. Car-gate has finally been resolved to our satisfaction, big grins on our faces yesterday then along came the dreaded ‘ping’. Ironically just until Monday when the rules change anyway. I feel fine, not a symptom, lateral flow negative, have sent off a pcr to be sure. Of course it’s left me concerned in case I have been carrying and sharing virus. It has also meant a long awaited visit from my cousin planned for today has been cancelled. Minor in the scheme of things I know but to be honest I’m thoroughly fed up!

A restricted day and weekend ahead for us, I plan to crack on and make use of the time by sorting the little jobs that are rarely sorted.

Take care everyone, look after yourselves, hope Friday is gentle with us all.

Good morning from a cloudy but warm E Kent. I had a much better night - mostly because DH didn’t spend it tossing about and sighing…
My poor Ash, how dreadful for you both. At least, Oldd is being cared for and treated. My prayers for you both.
At MattieTowers, everything seems to be falling into place. The washing machine is fixed, as is the dishwasher; the sofa situation has been sorted - old ones collected one day and new ones delivered the following…
I rarely go out, but I’m out for two lunches and one coffee in the next week!
I’m taking my old friend out again this afternoon. I suggested I came for her at 1500, I was very firmly Tod that it was “far too late”! There goes my afternoon nap.
Hope everyone has an acceptable day today - it is too much to ask that everyone has a brilliant day - and many flamingos are caught… ???❤️??

Beechnut Fri 13-Aug-21 07:15:19

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s wet and dull.

Oh blimey Ash! Just when the light was beginning to show and you could be together.

I’m off to do my shopping and hopefully pick up my prescription first thing. I’m then going to see my sister in law and this afternoon another trip out.

While watching tv last night I found myself laughing out loud at such a lot which was good to hear.

Have a good day everyone ?

kittylester Fri 13-Aug-21 07:18:30

Morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.

Thank you for your good wishes for my brother. He is not ill but really fed up of being isolated in a private room while trying to keep his exercises up.

Yesterday the flooring company rang and asked to come and fit the new flooring on the glass corridor/verriere so panic furniture moving this morning.

Best wishes to everyone.

NannyJan53 Fri 13-Aug-21 07:18:50

Good morning from a dull but still warm Black Country. It was so warm last night we had a BBQ and stayed in the garden until 11.00pm!

What a worry for you Ashcombe hopefully the Hospital stay will get to the root of the problem, and his pain will be managed and gradually lessen. Fingers crossed flowers

Our Karndean flooring in the living room is halfway there, hopefully he will finish today. Then the new sofa and chair will be delivered next Thursday, and new curtains are being made. I found a rug I really liked on Wayfair, but it is out of stock until November!!

My friend has just come out of isolation corner as her DIL and son were positive, and she does childminding for them. They have both been double jabbed, so not very ill, but the DIL has lost sense of taste and smell!

No real plans today, but we are going out for Fish & Chips tonight as a local pub are doing two for the price on one.

Wishing you all a good day. With special thoughts of our missing posters, especially Urmston hope she is ok, as she used to post regularly on here and I miss her posts.

Good morning from a bright, breezy south Cornwall. A lovely hardworking day at the allotment yesterday, laying bricks and attacking brambles and sawing rogue branches. Expected to be horribly stiff but am not at all, phew. My evening primrose plants have self-seeded; ground level now but they will grow to six feet high.

Ash, you sound so patient and loving and I feel for both of you.

11-year-old-grandson-sitting this evening. We'll make buns and watch telly and chat. He's a sweetie. The photo is my patio in the early evening.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Sar53 Fri 13-Aug-21 07:26:56

Good morning from a cloudy Essex by the sea.
I had a lovely day with all my girls yesterday . We haven't all been together since February 2020 so was good to see all my granddaughters having a good time.
Not much on the cards today. DH will be working on his boat, I have washing and ironing to do plus a trip to the post office.
Enjoy your Friday whatever you my get up to.
I'm attaching a picture of the five girls in their matching onesies xx

Grandmajean Fri 13-Aug-21 07:28:57

Good morning.
So sorry to hear that your DH is in pain and on morphine Ashcombe Hope some investigations done quickly. Very best wishes.
Early start as delivering DGS to football club this morning. He is coming here soon for breakfast ("Have you got croissants Grandma?" ) so need to get a move on. Very few posts so far. Will come back later.

Greyduster Fri 13-Aug-21 07:29:06

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is doing it’s darnedest in South Yorkshire. We had a trip to the bank yesterday only to find it is closed yet again without any notice and not open until Monday (online banking here we come), so we had a good walk around the park and then went off to choose a carpet for our hall stair and landing.
Ash I’m so sorry to hear that Oldd is in hospital so far away; my heart goes out to you both. Hope they get him back on track soon. Hang in there?.
Corner that’s hard luck. Good that it’s not for long and you feel okay.
Not sure what will be going on here today. Suck it and see, I think. Have a good day, folks.

Alizarin Fri 13-Aug-21 07:30:52

Beautiful photo Sar.

Pittcity Fri 13-Aug-21 07:32:40

Good morning from a brightening Colchester. Another warm, dry day.

A pile of ironing to tackle this morning. Spending the afternoon with DD2 and DGS2. Son-out-law is getting his 2nd jab this evening so we will mind the 6 year old terror while they go.

Sending love to all, especially Ash and Olddudders.
I often think about Urmston and Gillybob thanks

Grandmafrench Fri 13-Aug-21 07:33:08

Good Morning everyone on another sunshiney day in la belle France, where I’m sad to hear that Olddudders is back in hospital and in such pain. However, perhaps it’s slightly less worrying than it could be, in that it appears to be a flare up of an old war wound …. Man versus Donkey …. and not anything completely new or unknown. Still nasty though. Now, if
we still lived in Normandy, Ash, we’d have suggested kidnapping him and taking him to our Doctor Ostéopath - a man who could perform miracles - he cured my then 90 year old Mum’s neck pain she’d had for 20 years; he had a patient who flew in from Miami, every 2 months - just for ‘maintenance’. He was/is our miracle man! Feel lots better soon, OldD ?

Nice trip to the Dentist yesterday through such pretty countryside - and welcome shade in 35 degrees. Next visit - fitting of new crown ? ❌ ? ✔️ so smiles all round!

What a shame, Corner and right at the moment you recovered your good humour! Hopefully by Monday you’ll still be well and have caught up on those outstanding jobs as well. You can go and enjoy your lovely new car…and family visits. . Have a good Skye break, Granmarie. Lululemon, well done to you for being able to make a difference. ? Grandmajean how about taking up Coach driving in your next life - that might be your vocation ?

Well, can’t just sit here having fun, I’m off to make Peanut butter cookies- friends for coffee this morning. Lots of news and laughter to look forward to, so I’ll wish everyone a good Friday the 13th. To you all, I’m sending sunshine as we’ve so much to spare and well wishes to all who are worried or under par today.

Keep safe, keep strong, keep soldiering on and make each day count, lovely people. ?

Bye for now! ???‍♀️??????????

harrigran Fri 13-Aug-21 07:34:26

Good morning from a cloudy NE.
Nothing planned for today so will do some housework.
Had an hour in the garden yesterday, my baskets of mixed flowers are reaching the end, all straggly and faded but the pots of geraniums and lavender are still bright.
DS and family are off to Wales on holiday, they will be away until the end of the month but DD is still in the UK for support.
Sorry to hear olddudders is in hospital, let's hope the pain relief helps.
For those out and about, enjoy.

Kim19 Fri 13-Aug-21 07:51:06

Morning all! Ash? Decidedly dull up here in the north and doesn't even look as though it's trying to improve. Cheek! I've an unexciting trip to the local dump to dispose of my gardening rubbish today. Tedious but the facility is certainly appreciated by me. This will be upgraded to afternoon tea at a local hotel with friends. Some y' win! Let's all keep recognising our high spots no matter how trivial they may seem to others. Onwards!

Marydoll Fri 13-Aug-21 07:54:17

Good morning all from a very wet Glasgow.

Corner and Ash, so sorry to read your news. Corner, waiting for the results will be an anxious time.

My only plan for this morning, while MrMD gets a good soaking on the golf course, is a quick visit to the supermarket for essential supplies, I haven't been out all week, as I've been feeling pretty rotten.

Yesterday turned out to be a surprisingly busy day, without even leaving the house. I was sitting eating my breakfat, when DH called out that there was a wee man at the door in pyjamas! This is how Dollie describes herself, when we ask who is at the door. What a delightful surprise to see her, as we certainly weren't expecting it.

DS1 is having his garden revamped and had brought us the slabs from his garden to recycle for the corner, where we are planning to put the patio fruit trees after the decking is completed. We cannot get slabs anywhere, an ideal solution, economically and environmently friendly!

Dollie was basically being difficult (which I find hard to believe wink ), so he bundled her into the car along with the slabs, to give her mummy a break! grin.
It took two runs and I had her company for quite sometime. She insisted that I find Just Dance on You Tube and dance with her. Find the Kipling monkey, was the next activity. My bag of Kipling monkeys were hidden around the house and I had to find them! No wonder I was exhausted.

She then asked for a snack, her words were: "Gran, could I have a snack please, but you had better give me a healthy one, or mummy will freak out!" Out of the mouths of babes, she is only five.
In the middle of all this mayhem, the gas engineer arrived and I'm sure he thought he had entered a parallel universe! Much to our surprise, he found a leak in the boiler, which explained the problems we had been having, but couldn't work out what was wrong..

After they left, I decided to phone the surgery about the fact that my blood monitoring had been postponed again, due to my vulnerabilty. To my surprise, I received a phone call from my favourite GP and we had a long discussion about my failing health. He is the lovliest of people and always says he enjoys our talks, as I am a challenge! I always respond with, Just think of this challenge as your ongoing, professional development.wink
The outcome, my heart medication has been increased again and he will also contact my rheumatologist. Good result! However, if no improvement, who knows? I am now taking more than the recommended dose, but have no more options left.

I had just sat down, (to recover from the rascal's visit), when the phone rang, it was the hospital phoning to cancel a rheumatolgy appointment for steroid injections in October. (That's how long the waiting list is!) Much to my surprise, I was offered an alternative appointment this afternoon!
I cannot drive after it, so MrMD will have go to get round that golf course pretty quickly to be in time to take me!

I will come back later to read the posts, but for all those who are struggling, my thoughts and prayers.
Baby A is doing well, but a friend is nearing the end of her life, which is causing me and her other friends great sadness and I'm finding it difficult to deal with it. ?

dragonfly46 Fri 13-Aug-21 07:55:47

Good morning from overcast Leicestershire.

So sorry to hear about OD that is such aworry for you Ashcombe. I hope they can sort him out soon.
I hope your DB gets his op soon kitty.

I haven’t posted for a while as I have been beside myself with worry for my DiL. She was having migraines and suddenly one eye stopped moving. After many scans etc they have ruled out a stroke, an aneurism and a tumour.
They do not know what has caused it but it is similar to Bells Palsy which she had 2 years ago but a different nerve. There is a possibility it was caused by the Moderna vaccine.
We are hoping it will right itself eventually.

I hope you all have a good day.

Jaxjacky Fri 13-Aug-21 08:00:17

Good morning all from an overcast S Hants. So sorry to hear oldudders is back in Ashcombe hopefully soon sorted.
cornergran how frustrating, at least not the ten days now. Cracking photo Sar.
Did my two voluntary drives yesterday, good to be back doing my bit, many clients are lonely and they enjoy a chat. I have the unexpected pleasure of the GC’s today as DD has a dental appointment.
We’ve called a family bbq for the 22nd, going to cram these social visits in while we can still sit out, so must ring the butcher.
Horrific news from Plymouth this morning, thoughts with those affected.
I too miss Urmstongran, EV, Cherry and others and hope they are all well.
Have a gentle day all x

Marydoll Fri 13-Aug-21 08:02:36

So glad to see you posting again, Dragonfly, I have missed you, one of the founding members of this thread! Hoping your DIL continues to improve.

Susan56 Fri 13-Aug-21 08:03:44

ginny Fri 13-Aug-21 08:03:44

Good morning everyone from a dull N. Bucks.
Ended up yesterday spending all day with Dd3 and the boys. One of the little friends who they were going to meet had been sick a couple of times so they had to cancel. I was invited along instead and had a picnic and lots of fun in the woods.
Today I will be keeping and eye on the boys whist their Mummy packs their caravan ready to go on holiday tomorrow.
Out for a meal this evening.
As always thought and good wishes for all under par or troubled. Hope you can all find a smile during the day.

brook2704 Fri 13-Aug-21 08:04:33

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s bright and dry, a bit windy though but it’s not cold.
Yesterday stayed dry all day so we managed to continue the outside clear up jobs, more of the same today

What a lovely photo Sar the girls all look so sweet in the matching outfits with their names on!
Hoping olddudders is better soon Ash what a shame your plans to meet up need to be put on hold. Hoping things improve soon

I’m another one thinking of our missing posters, especially urmston, nannyjan hope they come back soon
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Grandmabatty Fri 13-Aug-21 08:12:19

Good morning all. Polmont is very wet today and windy. It looks like summer has gone. Ashcombe such a worry for you. Marydoll happiness and sadness in equal measure for you. Grandmafrench peanut butter cookies are my quick go to recipe. I use Paul Rankin's version. Watch those teeth though!
Yesterday I went shopping for a birthday present for mum. I managed to get her two tops out of M&S but the choice wasn't great. However I spent a lovely hour wandering around and looking at various shops..I haven't done that for ages. I then met up with ds and had the best bacon roll I've had for a long time. I did very little in the afternoon though. So today will have to stir my stumps. I'm going to head to my local centre as I saw a lovely dress in Next yesterday and I might buy it. Then back home as dd has organised a present for dsil's birthday to be delivered to my house. That'll encourage me to get cleaning. Have a good day all.

muse Fri 13-Aug-21 08:16:56

Good Morning Mick and Morningsters.
Drinking my mug of earl grey whilst reading but no note taking at the moment as I'm taking Mya to the vets in 10 mins for her ear exploratory investigation. Back home for breakfast and await phone call to collect her. Also waiting for our massive delivery of slabs for the patio and paths around the new build. They have a 5 hr journey to us.

More to come but a quick message for Olddudders and Ashcombe. I do hope the investigation gives answers and thanking of both.

Must dash?
