Now I am jealous!
- why do I never get these offers?
Recalled for a further appointment after a routine mammogram
Here we are yet again,
Happy as we can be...
All good friends and jolly good company.
WELCOME to our very own kitchen in which we celebrate happy occasions and support each other through the difficult times.

Now I am jealous!
- why do I never get these offers?
Oh dear grandmabatty the spots should appear very soon then. I still remember how they spread on the girls’ tummies- right before my eyes!
Better to get it young though isn’t it?
If it is the dreaded Pox, can I recommend Poxclin , not cheap but 1000% better than just calamine lotion . I know whereof I speak!
Thank you Mawbe. Better being prepared. I'll let dd know. We have an added complication as dd is pregnant.
Dogsmakemesmile You are warmly welcomed into the kitchen. We look forward to getting to know you and your partial to the occasional sausage roll four-legged friend.
Charleyg I do not like the sound of that private PM. Bloody cheek of the man! Us lot will teach him a lesson if we get our hands on him.
Grandmabatty Chicken pox is a pissibolity. Best get it over and done with. A little tender loving care will be called for, and administered when required.
TillyTrotter Yum...I would love some crispy pork crackling. Calorie-free, naturally.
Ditto your blueberry bake, Jax
Our Baggs gave me several pots of Ambrosia custard when she visited. I'm happy to virtually share.
MawB As a child I recall being smothered in pink calamine lotion and told not to scratch... As if.
Blossoming Reeeeeelax! That's an order.
BladeAnnie Sounds very much like the party went with a swing. As for the ^w***y being pinned on the groom...ouch!
Hellogirl1 One day I may paint a portrait of Sweetie Pie. She has a very pretty wee face. Rory's portrait hangs in the sitting room. He had wide, handsome face. We still miss that feline.
Kind words, thank you Brook. You lot are simply the best.
Hello everyone, I’m just snatching five minutes peace on the sofa while the family has gone out to a play park. It’s been non-stop! It’s one of the GC’s seventh birthday today, so much excitement here, of course. I’ve now got an electric train set running round my sitting room. Doing a roast chicken & gypsy tart for dinner. The rest of the UK family arrive tomorrow - I’m looking forward to my hotel bed tomorrow night!
Those chubby legs on Henry! How adorable.
I’m also a newbie in the kitchen, Dogsmakemesmile although not to GN itself.
Right, off to do some more tasks. X
Grandmabatty
Thank you Mawbe. Better being prepared. I'll let dd know. We have an added complication as dd is pregnant.
That would be a complication if she has never had it.
Hope she has.
She has had chicken pox Mawbe but has been told there's a slight risk. However no spots yet and apparently he's running around the house shouting about trains.
Who-OO ! Love the Hallowe’en crossstitch “GrandmaB”.
We have a particular favourite jigsaw puzzle which is a street on Hallowe’en. Naturally it’s American - they love “Trick or Treat” more than we do.
If the massage giving PM’er pokes his nose around the kitchen door Charley we’ll have his ‘guts for garters’ as my mum used to say. What a cheek!
Grandmabatty Your cross stitch is wonderfully colourful and raised a smile.
SueDonim You have certainly deserved a tranquil, hotel bedroom in which you can unwind and prepare for for the next bout gathering. Big hugs.
TillyTrotter perhaps he is perfectly innocent and I am the one in a flux! What have I missed!
Seriously I hope he did not manage to fool anybody, whatever their age.
It has been a lovely, sunny, warm day in bonnie Kintyre. I took a photo of the rose hips has we strolled through the village earlier today. The last of the roses are fading. Every time we passed them on our walks, I had to stop and take a deep breath of the heady scent. It reminds me of my childhood passion for making little bottles of perfume. Innocent times.
Enjoy your Sunday evening. I shall raise a glass of G&T to you all at nine o'clock precisely.

Am I the only person in the kitchen who has never tasted a G&T?
I’ve had a quiet day today, just me and DH which is lovely for a change. Im just in from the garden as it’s started raining - at least it’ll get everything watered and save me a job later
Hoping little Henry’s hospital appointment on Tuesday goes well Susan and there’s some good news about his allergies. My DGD had dairy allergies when younger but outgrew them by the time she was two.
Clever lady grandmabatty I love the Halloween cross stitch. Im not a big fan of Halloween but all the DGC really enjoy it. Hope the chickenpox worry goes away
Sounds like a lovely busy family day SueDomin - enjoy it and you can look forward to a good rest in your hotel tomorrow!
I can thoroughly recommend a nice G&T Charley - especially in the summer!
The rosehips look very large Soop. Still no sign of spots so perhaps a little virus that has passed. Fingers crossed he is well enough to go to playgroup tomorrow.
Just sipping a huge glass of pomegranate juice whilst catching up on four days activity in the kitchen. I think my first bottle of scent was rose petal soop.
Such a great name Hurricane Henry, Susan56 Lovely photo. Hope all goes well on Tuesday. I'll look out for news.
Terrible to read about the dog attack Blossoming. Well done to MrB for telling the neighbour and do hope you get some help from the warden.
BladeAnnie I see the pre-wedding gathering went well.?How long till the wedding?
Kittylester ??for the completion date. What a lovely thought them moving close to you. That's what my DD would like to do. I think it could be on the cards when DGD is close to finishing her BTech. Another 3 years though ?
Charleygir5 Just how I felt when I adopted Mya and gave her a new start in life. Her first 4 years weren't too good according to the rescue centre.
dustyangel Lucky Spock. I think you've posted a photo of him before. I remember his name and coat Such a gorgeous colour and love his white socks.
Grandabatty I'm wondering if they are homegrown veggies. We have another pile of runner beans tonight. Third night running ? I thought the same MawBe about the chicken pox.
JaxJacky. Was the weather true to form? Ours wasn't yesterday. Torrential rain storm. I was in the polytunnel trying to talk to MrM. Gave up, it was deafening. Brook2704 I missed out on the tray bake too. Next time JaxJacky.
Dogsmakemesmile. A huge welcome. soop is true to her word. This is a truly welcoming and friendly kitchen. Look forward to seeing a photo of Ddog. My Mya is partial to a piece of carrot too. She got into the fruit cage a few weeks ago and decided she liked blackcurrants! No after effects thank goodness.
Hope the BBQ has lifted the doldrums Yiayia4
Tillytrotter Lazy day here too. Don't know about you but I'd like more of them. I wonder where that expression "guts for garters" comes from.
SueDonim Hope it's a huge comfy bed tomorrow night.
Not much muse news. Mya is now fully over her two trips to see two different vets. The dog hospital loved her. I'm tempted to take her there in future, if needs be. The local surgery is with the same group practice as the hospital one. I've lost trust/faith in the local vet now.
MrM is resting so much more. Nurse's finger wagging registered. He didn't start any work on the build till 4:00 this afternoon. Still some pain but much less these past few days. His cousin visited on Friday. He'd not seen him for 6 months. Cousin was our first visitor for nearly 4 weeks. I'm lucky to be so busy outside and have a 5 min chat occasional chat with Phil, the chap doing the build work. I do miss company and chat. Thank goodness for virtual GN friends.
DD still hoping to get here late September. No accidents this time please. Had a lovely call from DS. DGD x ray OK. No broken bones. He is about to buy a house after renting for years. A ridiculous amount of money for houses where he lives but he needs to stay close to his daughter. Good thing the new job (which he's enjoying) has an excellent salary.
Finished the juice. G+T when MrM gets in. Off to prep the runner beans.
Busy snapping wildlife on the flowers this afternoon. I grew the verbena from seed this year. Some of its 5' tall! The butterfly is a Silver-washed Fritillary or sometimes called silver spotted fritillary. The bees and hover flies love the dahlia.
Good evening dear kitcheners - welcome to all our new friends. The Kitchen is the most friendly and supportive place you will find ? soop I too remember making little bottles of perfume and always felt sad the lovely scent didn't last long. Happy memories indeed. The bride-to-be left this afternoon and really enjoyed her special day. So now we really are on the countdown to the wedding (14th September ??). Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the evening and gentle hugs for anyone feeling below par
Muse definitely not home grown vegetables. My garden is very low maintenance and is only two years old. I have grown tomatoes and basil in a mini greenhouse and strawberries, lettuce and parsley in baskets as well as sage and chives in pots. Baby steps!
Good news on Mya and MrM behaving muse, bbq was with sun/cloud, we did have some rain overnight.
Grandmabatty such patience with your cross stitch, I’m too fidgety; hopefully not chicken pox then. SueD I hope you’re recharging your batteries for the next enjoyable onslaught!
Charley I don’t like gin…sharp intake of breath from some…vodka is my rare tipple of a spirit, I’ve had a bottle in the cupboard since February.
Quiet after the bbq, greenhouse watered, tomatoes are finally turning to orange from green. My face has broken out in red blotches, I think it’s seborrhoeac dermatitis, patches have been on and off for months, hate to bother the GP with something trite.
My friend who’s had sepsis is still in hospital, she’ll be in for a while, it’s unclear in phone calls what the issue is, gall stones/pancreatitis possibly, she’s miserable, family only visits.
I’ll leave you to your evening all, which I hope is pleasant, thinking of those lonely or poorly x
Glad you are feeling better grandmabatty . You need to get fit now. We have closed the Argy for a refit and will open again just before Christmas. I trust you (and any one else with a strong stomach) will join us ?. That’s a lovely cross stitch. I used to like doing that too but my eyesight is a bit dodgy now.
Charleygirl what a cheek. I wonder who it is. I hope he is put a stop to soon.
muse so pleased to hear the news about your son and DGD. That must lift your spirits.
Are you sure those are rose hips soop? They look like radishes to me ?
