Hello Lizzie and welcome.
Oh Urms I want a pair of black sandals with thin straps too. You could have bought a pair for me while you were shopping ?
Dogsmakemesmile have a lovely visit with you DD. You sound so excited.
annsixty sounds like you had a lovely time with your friend and another trip to look forward too ?
Looks like you’re having a good visit with family too brook how nice to spend time with your DGC.
charleygirl I agree with you it is chilly. I want the heating on if it doesn’t warm up soon.
Grandmabatty so glad you had a nice time. A G&T sounds just the thing.
Hope the soops are having a wonderful time.
TOYA ?

Oooh enjoy your G&T grandmabatty you definitely deserve it! ? pleased the party went well for your SiL ? ?

Grandmabatty Sat 04-Sept-21 19:45:06

I've returned from the surprise thirtieth birthday party with lots of goodies. Sausage rolls, sandwiches, chicken goujons etc. A proper feast of all things unhealthy. The birthday boy had a great time, the boy wonder ran about daft with all the visitors in his house and my daughter was happy it went well. I might have a wee g and t.

‘Evening All’.

Did someone mention a glass of fizz? Cheers BladeAnnie don’t mind if I do! I hope all goes well.

Another warm evening here. Himself is watching the repeat of the qualifying laps ready for tomorrow’s Grand Prix. I’m sat on our tiny balcony after a shower. We did a lot of walking today (and eating and drinking!). Most enjoyable. It was busy when we were out and about. Saturday crowds as during the week it’s very quiet. A few holidaymakers here but it’s mostly Spanish. I’m sure their economy has taken a second summer hit.

soop must be having the best of times right now with her family. Wonderful and I’m sure we all look forward to her tales in due course.

There are quite a few missing posters these days aren’t there?. I wish they’d all come back. GN is much richer for their input. x

Jaxjacky Sat 04-Sept-21 18:54:23

Tilly I think GG13 has the most surplus, although I’ve just given some toms away. BA you’re having a ‘weddings’ year, you’ll be a dab hand.
Sounds like a lovely break anne I love your justification for a new case, may it get plenty of use and give lots of pleasure.
Dogsmakemesmile how exciting, savour every minute. And Blossoming how talented, pleased you could (eventually) drag yourself away from your comfy bed to continue creating. I too am wishing soop a wonderful weekend.
We visited my brother and his wife in their new to them bungalow earlier, they are near the tidal part of Southampton water, the place needs work, but just right. Very quiet, but apparently they get some noise from the docks, you wouldn’t know when we were there. Just done the watering, another curry here, bubbling away, I’m tired for no good reason, probably driving somewhere new. My achievement today is linking Google maps to the car’s computer, only taken a year, shameful! But I’ve had no need until now as we go away soon, I was chuffed, MrJ quietly impressed.
Have a lovely evening all, thoughts with Panache and missing muse & Grandmafrench, hope they are all well. X

Blossoming Sat 04-Sept-21 18:11:58

Good evening lovely Kitcheners, a very productive afternoon here in Blossoming Towers. A load of bedding and towels washed and dried, the sun actually came out this afternoon. The pendant isn’t quite finished, I just need to file a couple of rough spots off the side of the gem to get a good tight fit and I need to put a fastener on the chain. I also did a slow cooker curry earlier, so Mr. B is in the kitchen warming some rice ready to serve up. I’m ready for a nap, hope I don’t fall asleep in the curry grin

Cheers Annie, hope all is going well. Have a lovely evening everyone, will try and pop back later if I’m still awake!

TillyTrotter I will need an explanation please of that strange word summer. I do not recognise it. It is grey and cold in London and it is the Scot in me that is stopping me from switching on the the heating to take the chill off.

Ann that sounds like a lovely break and with another booked there will be no stopping you now.

I do hope soop is also enjoying herself and her nether regions are not causing too much trouble.
TOYA

brook2704 Sat 04-Sept-21 17:19:55

Hope you’re enjoying your fizz BA cheers to you and the bride to be!
So good you enjoyed your trip away annsixty it doesn’t matter that you’re only an hour away from home it’s the change of scenery that counts and makes it worth it. Great that you’ve got another trip planned to look forward to and a new suitcase ?
Just back at DD1 house after a lovely day in Cambridge. I did a bit of shopping and sightseeing and then sat by the river watching the punting for lunch.
DD1 and SiL are making the most of me being here and are going out again tonight. I don’t mind at all though as the DGSs are easy to look after, I just need to bath them, read their bedtime story and put them to bed. Then it’s definitely feet up time .. DH who’s at home in Inverness is also babysitting at DD2s house tonight so we’re both hopefully being quite useful just now. We’ll have to compare notes later!

TillyTrotter Sat 04-Sept-21 16:55:16

Jaxjacky I would love a few of your homegrown tomatoes to throw in the casserole. They look great! ?

TillyTrotter Sat 04-Sept-21 16:53:52

Cheers ? ? BladeAnnie, and thank you.
This wedding will be here before you know it. If the to-do list grows my advice is to delegate ?. It’s something I learned in my working years. I hope you’re getting sunshine today.

A summer’s day here but I’m in from the garden to make a sausage casserole for later.
I hope kitcheners have found something good in today and gentle hugs to those who find the day a struggle.

BladeAnnie Sat 04-Sept-21 12:57:49

Just popping in to say a quick hello all before the bride-to-be arrives with her seemingly never ending to-do list. Mr BA has (unsurprisingly!!) taken himself off to the garden out of the way ?. Today will be the last time I see DD2 until we go to be pampered on the day before her wedding so I'm bringing fizz to the kitchen and thought we might enjoy a glass all together ???‍♀️

Grandmabatty Sat 04-Sept-21 12:40:48

Annsixty that sounds like a lovely time! Blossoming that seems like a lovely craft. I've signed up for a couple of classes in October. Right! New dress on and I'm off to pick up ds to go to sil's party. See you on the other side.

Blossoming Sat 04-Sept-21 11:47:42

Good morning lovely Kitcheners, the new mattress continues to provide comfortable sleep but I didn’t want to get up this morning! The grey skies outside the window didn’t encourage me. . The sun is now trying to peek out here. That sounds like a good plan Ann, sometimes a short break is just what we need to give us a boost and it gives you something to look forward to.

This afternoon I’m hoping to complete an unfinished jewellery project that was lurking in my craft stash. It’s a beautiful blue Jasper cabochon that I’m mounting in a sterling silver pendant. It’s tricky doing the mounting one handed and the air may turn a little blue ]grin]

GrannyGravy13 Sat 04-Sept-21 11:38:49

annsixty good to hear you enjoyed your break and that you have neither one planned.

soop I do,hope, you are enjoying your family time.

We have had lb’s of ripe tomatoes, so I must get organised and make some chutney. I am currently being lazy lounging on my bed, watching James Martin and trying to get into my latest book (The Silent Patient, Alex Michaelides). I can hear DD and her boys downstairs, not sure where GrandpaGravy is hiding ?

Will pop back later ?‍♀️

aggie Sat 04-Sept-21 11:35:03

annsixty that’s a brilliant idea , you will need ( ? ) to have a few more breaks to justify that purchase ?

annsixty Sat 04-Sept-21 11:28:25

Good morning all.
I hope very much that soop is enjoying her much deserved break with her family.
I don’t recall where it is but I hope the sun is shining for them, it certainly isn’t here.

To all the ones visiting family for celebrations and happy times, enjoy.
To all not well or with family not well I send very best wishes.

I enjoyed my two nights away with my friend very much but my physical limitations were brought home to me once again, the good thing is I am now accepting them, as soon as I felt my legs had had enough I said so.

We only went an hour away from home but the break away was such that I could have been anywhere.Because the weather and my legs were iffy I have to say a fair amount of retail therapy took place, oh the guilt?
My friend who does go rather overboard on spending on her family had a field day.

We are planning on doing it again in a few weeks, weather permitting so I bought myself a new small case rather than using my GD’s, so I have to go again to justify the expense.

I hope you all have as good a weekend as you can.

Grandmabatty Sat 04-Sept-21 11:10:23

Dogsmakemesmile a busy day for you. And an enjoyable one too. I've done a couple of washes and been to Aldi. I'm about to clean the bathroom and polish and hoover. This afternoon my dd is having a party for her husband as he will be thirty next week. I'll be going to that. 20 or so adults and assorted weans is not my idea of fun but I'll be polite and socialise and come home after a couple of hours. I've had to put the tumble dryer on as there's rain in the air. Have a good day all.

Dogsmakemesmile Sat 04-Sept-21 09:13:56

AArgh. Just wiped out my message! I'll start again. I seem to be the first person on. Good morning kitcheners. Just had one of my home made yogurts and raspberries for breakfast. Must learn to make yogurt using a flask one day. Any tips gratefully received. Wash on. DD2 arrives tonight. Feel like a child waiting for Father Christmas. So excited. Will distract myself with visit to allotment. Have barely been this year. I did plant garlic so off to harvest that. The allotments are such a haven. Lovely community there. Wishing you all the best of days. Will try not to wipe this out.

Nannytopsy Fri 03-Sept-21 22:54:09

Grandmabatty we have lots of green tomatoes too but perhaps after the sunshine this weekend we will have a glut of ripe ones!
DD & SiL here tonight before a very early flight from Stanstead. My alarm is set for 2:45am, just to make sure they have woken up! ?
I do hope soop has a wonderful time with her family.
Sleep tight everyone!

Grandmabatty Fri 03-Sept-21 21:07:29

JaxJacky lovely tomatoes. Mine are still very green. Blossoming a comfortable mattress is heaven indeed. Urmstongran excellent shopping skills!

Urmstongran Fri 03-Sept-21 20:14:05

‘Evening All’.

Back home an hour ago from Los Boliches & Fuengirola. We went out just before 10am so a round ten hours out and abouting! Showered now. We are full of food - Himself enjoyed a huge dish of mussels and I had a delicious baked hake dish.

I tried on a pair of pink designer sunglasses today that I’d spotted a few weeks ago and was ‘thinking about’ because of the cost. Well I tried them on and quite honestly, apart from the logo on the side they looked like huge safety goggles! Not a good look and for that price, a no-no from me. Anyway my curiosity was sated. Himself was quite possibly inwardly delighted (‘ah, such a shame when you’d had a hankering after them’). I’m sure I detected a hop, skip and a jump from him as we made our way to the restaurant!

I did enjoy a spot of retail therapy though on the way back to the train station. I saw some black leather sandals with thin straps - exactly what I’d been looking for! The best bit? They only cost €15 as they were half price in the sale.

brook2704 Fri 03-Sept-21 19:59:19

The tomatoes are looking good Jax well done with those
My DD1 here in Cambridge has just got an allotment and it’s quite a lot of work getting it ready for planting and then deciding what to grow!

Blossoming Fri 03-Sept-21 19:48:45

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. Yes Jax the new mattress is really comfy. It’s been a chilly grey day here, I’ve been sorting out some of my craft stash. I’m tired tonight, so off for my shower shortly then best re-test that mattress! Sleep well, TOYA.

Jaxjacky Fri 03-Sept-21 19:33:33

GG13 gold medal for babysitting. We’ve had sun today, after seemingly weeks of grey sky, days anyway. Lizzie72 a big welcome ?l gather the mattress was a success Blossoming, excellent, a good nights sleep is bliss.Yia I’m always drawn to the sea too, hence our soon trip to Weston super Mare, an adventure to an unknown place.
Washing all dry, including bedding, visit to poorly friend and Friday night catch up in the pub, that’s been my day. Quite chuffed tomatoes are now ripening.
Have a peaceful evening all x

BladeAnnie Fri 03-Sept-21 17:54:33

Good evening dear kitcheners and I hope all have had a good day. No sunshine for us Tilly - endless grey skies!! I keep hearing mixed weather forecasts for September - an indian summer/wind and rain?? Just hope we have a fine day with maybe a touch of sunshine for DD2s wedding on the 14th ??. I've had a nice quiet day off today and a large glass of rose awaits me ? - plenty to share around. Cheers ?
