Good morning from an overcast E Kent.
Another week starting, hurtling towards the end of summer. Apart from that very hot week in At, the temperatures have hovered in the top teens and have never been above 21C. It works be nice to have some rain.
Cleaning today, my fave… more assembling of fabric pieces.
Nothing on the horizon.
Hope today is kind to you all. ??????????☀️☀️

grandMattie Mon 16-Aug-21 06:09:09

Grr ?. Very hot week in May.!

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where the wind is attempting to drag the bedroom curtains through the open window.
DH has gone for an early morning swim and has brought my cup of tea up.
I’m off to Richmond Castle in North Yorkshire later, where I am meeting my good friend. It’s a seventy mile trip for us both. I sometimes think we are both mad.
Hope all is well those who follow. I’ll read tonight when I get home. Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Good morning from Shropshire.

I posted in soops kitchen last night but for those who don’t visit the kitchen my lovely, gentle dear father in law died yesterday evening?

My husband had an appointment to visit him at 4pm today so sadly did not get to see him to say goodbye.

We are heartbroken?

We are setting off to West Wales shortly to see MIL and the family.

Thinking of all with illness and sorrow?

Have as good a day as you can everyone??

Gelisajams Mon 16-Aug-21 06:29:53

Good morning from a dull but dry Black country.
Condolences to you and your family Susan?
We have the boys today looks like my lounge will become a mini railway day, if weather picks up will go to the park.
Will catch up with everybody's news later.
Have the best day you can everyone, and may you all find some ?.

Marydoll Mon 16-Aug-21 06:57:53

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow.

A surprise visit from DS2 lifted my spirits yesterday, when he came to escape the wedding planning talk involving his fiancée, her mum and her four sisters! To many women in the house!

I have no inclination today to do anything, so I shall potter about. Phoenix is never far from my thoughts, I cannot settle and it would be insensitive of me to rabbit on with inane anecdotes. For some she is just a familiar poster, but for others she is a cherished friend.

Susan, Dragonfly and your families are also in my thoughts, so much sadness and worry among our GN friends over these last few days. ?
Susan, safe journey

Have a good day all, whatever your plans.

Good morning to you all from a bright looking morning in Torbay,

DH, olddudders is already being driven to Le Mans for an early appointment for another scan at a specialist clinic so we might know more by the end of the morning. I’ll keep you posted. Last night, I went ahead and booked my ferry from Portsmouth to Caen for the 26th so I can be there when our helpful, local friend is back at work.

Condolences ? to you, Susan56 on the loss of your dear father-in-law, who was obviously special to you; have a safe journey today. My condolences also on the sad and sudden loss of your friend in the Netherlands, dragonfly46. Thoughts are with dear Phoenix, too.

Alizarin and muse: my heart goes out to the community in Plymouth after recent events. It has touched so many for whom life will never be the same. The situation in Afghanistan is beyond imagining - those poor families, especially if they have daughters.

monk08: my grandfather grew wonderful dahlias and chrysanthemums and my mother was a keen gardener, too, but my interest only extends to admiring the work of others or sitting in gardens!

Scentia: welcome back out of isolation today! The pizza sounded delicious, MawBe, and all the better for being consumed outside! Susan56: your DS made excellent time for that journey; we towed a caravan on that exact route many years ago and it seemed to take forever!

Merry Hell! I remember it well, NannyJan53! A favourite destination when my three children were teenagers - the youngest will be 40 in November! Your shopaholic friend would love it, Georgesgran!

What a joy to read of the various outings and welcoming of visitors that many of you share on here, in contrast to lockdown days! Have a good week, everyone, and I"m very appreciative of your ongoing concern for the plight of olddudders, which really helps. ?☀️?

Scentia Mon 16-Aug-21 07:00:10

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it looks a little grey.☔️
So sorry to hear your news Susan ?
I am off to work today but first have to run to the coop as we have no bread for toast or sandwiches!!
The report from the COVID house is that DGS is the only one left with any symptoms, he is still coughing. DD should be back at work on Thursday so will do a test on him Wednesday evening to check his status irrespective of whether his cough has gone. After I spent all day worrying about him yesterday she said “ oh he’s not that bad, he’s only coughed once or twice and that was over his dads dinner, just to be naughty as he wanted to leave the table!!” so he is obviously on the mend. Dad however, went to bed hungry as he didn’t fancy his food somehow?
I do hope we all have a lovely day, or the best day we can. Keep smiling ?

Scentia Mon 16-Aug-21 07:01:02

Oh yes Ash I am free, I forgot?

Good morning everyone from an overcast Northampton. Up early this morning; unless I hear different a friend will pick me up for yoga at about 9am. Haven't been for a few weeks so if you hear any joints creaking they will be mine!

A day of not much yesterday, but managed to cut back an overgrown forsythia, then water everything and clean the bird baths out.

Going for lunch to a friend's house later on which will be lovely, so hoping for a good catch-up and set the world to rights.

So sorry to hear about your dear father-in-law Susan. My heartfelt condolences. flowers

MawBe Mon 16-Aug-21 07:09:48

Good morning everybody from Norfolk where it looks set to be another lovely day
(Don’t know why my attempts at garden pics failed yesterday but trying again.)
I suppose I had better go home sometime as Rosie will be missing me and I her, but it’s been a lovely weekend ! Yesterday was much nicer than my usual Sunday -
Sunday roast in Bungay followed by a trip to Norwich wandering round the cathedral where our friend used to be Dean and listening to open air jazz. This morning D, GS and I are going to have a go at erecting the new tent they picked up yesterday for their trip to Dorset later in the week.
I hope Monday - and indeed this week- will be kind to you all.

Good morning Mick, morning all from cloudy South Lanarkshire.

Susan flowers

Not a lot happening here today other than a dental check up. I’ll take the little pooch out for a longish walk and then get on with my crochet I think.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day.

MawBe Mon 16-Aug-21 07:12:19

Condolences to you and your family Susan - safe if sad journey flowers

Morning Mick, morning All. Another cloudy start to our corner of Somerset.

My get out of jail card has arrived, just as well as we’ve been asked to ferry two grandchildren to their Dad who needs to be at work today. We’ll spend the day with them and with luck I’ll catch up with an old friend.

Hope the scan outcome is positive ash, how exciting to have booked your crossing. It does sound as if your grandson is better scentia, although his dad may not approve of the evidence!

Such sad news susan, safe journey, my love to you all. Sadness for you too dragonfly, I’m sorry, friends are precious. Phoenix has been in my thoughts constantly. I’m a little subdued, will brighten later, the young ones chatter will fill the gap I’m sure.

Take care everyone. Hope Monday will be gentle with us all.

harrigran Mon 16-Aug-21 07:22:14

Good morning from a grey and damp NE.
DH has a hospital appointment this morning, he has his blood checked before he can have the next chemotherapy session.
Today we have a locksmith coming, hopefully to replace the front door handle.
On Saturday afternoon DH went to answer the door to a delivery man and the handle just came off in his hand, the metal had broken completely.
Condolences Susan, sad trip for you today.

Grandmabatty Mon 16-Aug-21 07:24:39

Good morning all from Polmont. Cool and grey today. Susan ?. Safe journey.
I'm on babysitting duties today so possibly a trip to the park. I'm not feeling great today either so we'll see what happens. Have a good day all.

Gingster Mon 16-Aug-21 07:27:05

Good morning all from a breezy but sunny Suffolk coast.
I spent a good deal of time yesterday tryin to get on to gransnet . I don’t know what was wrong. Here, we share our kindly neighbours Wifi so perhaps something was amiss with her connection.

DB will be journeying home today. We’ve had a very relaxing long weekend with him, and he seems better in himself. His DW went into a care home six months ago with advanced Alzheimer’s. It did him good to get away for a few days, especially seeing his sons opera in the forest.

Yesterday we went to see the Heather on Dunwich Heath . It’s glorious st the moment . And then in to Dunwich beach for fish and chips. It was crowded but we timed it just right and enjoyed our delicious meal. Funnily enough, I saw an old friend with her DH, from near us in Essex, . With so many people there, I spotted them at a distance and then they sat at the next table to us. All very coincidental. ?.

Susan - a sad journey for you today. ?

Marydoll - yes I keep thinking of dear Phoenix . I cried when I read her last post. ?.

Ash great that you’ve booked you ferry over to France. ?.

Scentia glad your family have recovered well. The little boys cough will soon go, I’m sure. They bounce back. ??.

Have a gentle day everyone.?

Beechnut Mon 16-Aug-21 07:29:19

Good Morning everyone from sunny Severnside.

Washing to do today and a bit more sorting out. It went quite well yesterday but where does all this stuff come from. I even sorted out some of the camping things.

Sending my condolences to you and your husband Susan. Take care on your journey today ?

I’ll go back and read properly a bit later. Have a good day all ?

brook2704 Mon 16-Aug-21 07:29:24

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a cloudy and grey start to the day
Condolences to susan on the loss of your dear FiL and safe journey. Also also thinking of dragonfly on the loss of your dear friend ?
A busy day for me today, we’re looking after the DGC, it’s their last day of the school holidays before the schools go back here tomorrow. There’s a good outdoor play park nearby so I think we’ll go there and take a picnic lunch if it’s dry Then this evening I’m on thr Inverness to Luton flight to visit DD1 in Cambridge and help with the DGC there for a few days. I’m really looking forward to it and catching up with all the news
Lovely photos Maw thanks for sharing
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Good morning all from a very sunny start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. So very sorry to hear of your sad loss Susan May your days ahead be filled with lots of lovely memories. I’m thinking it’ll be a quiet day for me today after the hilarities of the weekend I’m pretty zonked out having family staying over. Mind you it’s been fun.

Can’t wait until the weekend when we’ll be off to Aberdeenshire to stay in a lovely hotel it’s really good to have exciting things to look forward to. And we’re going to get those boases we miss most.

Have a pleasant Monday all who are struggling virtual hugs all aroundflowers

Jaxjacky Mon 16-Aug-21 07:47:10

Good morning all from a sun/high cloud in the sky S Hants.
Susan safe journey. I hope your DIL improves dragonfly and condolences regarding your friend. I too have phoenix on my mind.
Hopefully more constructive news Ashcombe with a clearer prognosis, good you’ve booked the ferry, at last.
Today I need to ring my bank and verify an advisor from them that rang on Friday, ever wary. Go to the library, which was shut on Friday. Clean bathrooms…deep joy, then start deadheading in the garden.
There is a pall of sadness over GN and I include concern over missing Rufus.
Have the best day you can everyone, we all need some ???today XX

Grandmabatty Mon 16-Aug-21 07:48:19

Gingster I struggled to get on too and I'm still having issues with accessing the site.
