Phoenix: An updated Thread.

Some of you may have missed the thread started by our cherished friend, Phoenix, informing Gransnetters of her illness and the reason for her recent absence from GN. It has been suggested that a new thread is started, directing her friends to the original thread, where she let us know of her terminal diagnosis.

Sadly, Phoenix is no longer able to read your messages or PMs, but has said how she, her family and close friends have found comfort in the love and support, you have shown her.

This thread will try and keep you all updated, with news provided by a Gransnetter, who is in daily in contact with the family.

A heartbreaking time for us all.

I do not think undertakers accept donations to pass onto charity now. I have a vague memory that some new financial regulation stopped that some years ago.

I know that I have been asked to send the money directly to the charity with a name attached when donating in recent years.

In NI some funeral directors have a tribute page where you can donate to the charity of the persons choice and add a tribute.

I am deeply comforted by the fact that Phoenix and those around her drew support and care from their Marie Curie nurses.
It was 33 years ago that my cousin, aged just 18, was tasked with caring for my Aunt at home and our family are so grateful for all that they did - and, indeed, continue to do for others.
