Good Morning Saturday 21st August 2021
(73 Posts)Good Morning everyone from just after sunrise on Severnside. It’s very dull and raining.
Many Happy returns of the day Oopsadaisy ??
Ironing and crafting for my activities today and runner bean eating.
Enjoy your trip to London Mick and I hope everyone else has a good day without too many worries ?
Good morning from a grey E Kent. The Esther seem to have developed a pattern of being grey and cool in the morning and turning sunny and warmer by 5 p.m.
My son was discharged last evening, still in some pain, with a nebulous diagnosis of “bowel problems”, sent home with antibiotics and painkillers and a referral to the gastroenterologist…. I am deeply grateful for all your concern and kind words. Thank you.
I was to take my aged friend out yesterday (to a cafe she has since told me she “doesn’t like”) but was told that she didn’t feel well enough to to see me, would I come into the Home. Yes, I would. What a palaver! I went to her room to find her looking very frail and small. After a few minutes of chatting and making her laugh, she looked almost normal. I think that now her three friends have died there is no one with enough interest to keep her mind turning. Very sad.
I hope that everyone has a gentle da, full of small joys. ❤️????☀️?
Esther has nothing to do with me. I meant the weather… ?
I meant to add - have a lovely day out in London, Mick. You certainly sound well prepared!
Good morning everyone from a very grey Northampton; rain is forecast for most of the day. Glad I managed to cut the grass yesterday. I had planned on doing some washing, but there's no rush.
Today I shall have the pleasure of younger DGD's company. Her dad (DS) is working, and het mum and sister are going to London to see a show. She will come laden with plenty to do, but we may do some baking.
Have a good day in London Mick.
Good morning from a dismal, grey Torbay! These dark mornings certainly encourage longer sleeps!
It's good to hear your son is home, grandMattie, despite the vague diagnosis. I hope his pain lessens and he recovers well. Seeing your friend looking frail in the Home must have been sad for you but it sounds like she was cheered by your company. Do they have any musical entertainment, I wonder? That can work wonders, as I’m sure you know.
The photo promotes the show we are staging at our theatre tonight. It’s for one night only but our first performance since March, 2020 so I"m looking forward to being on Front of House and relieved that I'm feeling better. Thank you for the good wishes yesterday.
Have a super day in London, Mick; we look forward to hearing about it tomorrow. Happy birthday to Oopsadaisy1 and a good weekend to you all! ????
Ash, thank you. Yes, they were in the middle of musical entertainment in the Home when I left, but she can’t bear that sort of sing song….
Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is expected to be a wet day☔️
I was going to get the train to London tomorrow to visit the Tate Mick but when I looked it was a £70 return rail fare ? I will visit Derby Museum and Gallery instead, 10 Minute drive and free parking on a Sunday!!
Off to physio at 8.00 so I will be moaning all day how much my shoulder hurts?
I may go shopping to cheer myself up and get a new dress!
Have a lovely day folks, smile a lot and keep dry❤️
Good morning Mick and All.
Have fun tonight Ashcombe I’ve never seen the Jersey Boys. I must put it on my To Do List. We are booked for an outside performance of The Darling Buds of May but heavy rain and thunder are forecast. We are waiting to see how the day progresses as we can take rain, but not thunder and lightning ⚡️
I wonder grandMattie if your son has diverticulitis, which I have from time to time, the pain is awful. I suggest he has a liquid diet for a few days as that definitely helps. Hope it can be sorted soon.
Where’s this warm weather they keep mentioning ?
Good morning from what is forecast to be a wet day in Cheshire.Son and family already on the road on journey home from Skye. I will be twitchy all day until I know they are safely back.
Good morning all from a light skyed Suffolk coast. The sea is very calm and tranquil.
Yesterday we walked along the river from Iken to Snape. A very pretty walk with lots of sweet corn fields. Snape was very busy with concert goers , shoppers and people having lunch. We decided to get an ice cream and as we only had cash , no card on us , we were told card only. The whole of theMaltings were the same. So no coffee, lunch or ice creams for us. I think a lot of places are like this at the moment but it didn’t occur to us .
Mick have a lovely day out!
Ash hope the show goes well
GranMattie good to see your DS is out of hospital.
This is our last couple of days here for a while, so we will get the cottage in apple-pie order and head back to Essex on Monday.
Have a pleasant day, all. ?
Good Morning. Usual dull sky at the moment in N. Bucks. DD2 will be arriving soon to walk Lord Jasper.
DD1 will be dropping off some lemon curd that she has made for me and then
the two of them are off for a holiday together.
Had a lovely video , made by DGS 2 , (5) also on holiday, explaining where he was and what he could see. He’d make a good travel guide .
Some shopping to do locally and will take Lord Jasper to the exercise field this afternoon. We will see how the rest of the day pans out.
Have a good trip Mick
Hope everyone finds a smile today.
Good morning from a cloudy Morecambe Bay. Rain is forecast later.
Enjoy your trip Mick and have a good birthday Oopsadaisy
I need to get some Niger seeds for our greedy goldfinches. I can only feed the goldfinches as nuts and seeds attract rats. Even putting water out in a tray is enjoyed by our long tailed visitors from the canal at the back of the house.
I hope DH will take me into Morecambe in the campa. We sold the car yesterday ahead of getting the new one next month. I need to get some confidence to drive the campa or I’m going to be stuck! At one time I would literally drive anything but I had a bad experience a few years ago from which I still have flashbacks.
After a very hectic day yesterday, today hopefully, will be much more leisurely.
Take care and stay safe everyone ??????
Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s rather dull and damp.
Enjoy your day trip Mick. Hope the show goes well Ash, and I’m glad your DS is home gM.
Well I turned up for my shift at the charity shop yesterday only to find it in darkness with a notice in the window saying it was closed. Very odd. I walked home feeling slightly annoyed and disappointed, however I eventually got a text from another volunteer to say that the manager wasn’t feeling well. It’s such a pity that the charity have let go of so many of their staff that there’s no one to cover for holidays or sickness.
Not a lot happening today, I’ll have to think about meals for the next week and get some shopping in. DD sent me a message to say that one of the main maternity units in the city need hats for the newborns so I made a start last night, one down, several more to go!
Wishing everyone a peaceful day with as few worries as possible.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry with some light grey cloud
I had a good uneventful journey home yesterday from Cambridge and DH picked me up from the airport. I really enjoyed my stay there and I’ve only a week at home before going back again to help with childcare until the DGC both go back to school. It’s a busy time but I know I’m really lucky and I appreciate all the time I can spend with family.
Today I’m off to see DD2 and I’ll take my DGD to her dancing class this morning.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good morning all from gloomy wet Harrogate
A well worth place to visit in London is the central Methodist Church very close to Westminster Abbey. They used to serve really wholesome meals very reasonable, they have (had) guided trips round the church where they show you the balcony where the BBC film goings on at the Abbey. Haven’t been for a couple of years though maybe Mick you should phone them and see if it’s all still running? Especially if it’s a miserable day?
Yesterday had dgs. We took him a short trip upstairs on the bus. We might have enjoyed if the buses ? had been running on time, it took one and a half hours to get 3 miles home. I thought I only had him for the morning and was itching to get my workbook set up. It was pronounced dead until I got the Good people at Apple to resuscitate it - it’s now in a coma until I can get more help. My DD did not pick him up til 4pm so didn’t have much time with laptop.
grandMattie I do hope you DS improves greatly. What a nightmare. But good to hear Iris is progressing well.
Happy birthday Oops [cake]
Have the best day you can folks
Good morning Mick and the GM team from grey-ish east London. The mornings are growing dark and feeling autumnal.
I had a lovely lunch with friends yesterday and it was warm enough to eat outside. We enjoyed the fruits of their labours from their allotment, specifically pasta with yellow courgettes.
I am still wobbly on my legs, but hope that some gentle exercise will improve my co-ordination.
Ginster what bad luck to be at lovely Snape without the means to buy an ice cream or a coffee!
On line grocery order today for us today. Then film night tonight.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Birthday greetings to Oopsadaisy ?
Good Morning all , a day trip sounds good Michael , enjoy ,
I am looking out at a very grey sky and shiny roofs so looks like a wet day, no problem as I am going to try to get my crochet tamed ! A new pattern is testing me , I'm overthinking it as usual
Good morning Mick, thanks all for your birthday wishes, face time today with sick Granddaughter, Grandson and DD1, with a visit from youngest daughter and nephew. So it will be a good day, very gloomy and overcast rain later apparently in The Vale of The White Horse.
Still feeling a bit wrung out from the funeral yesterday, over 200 people , eulogies from the ladies ACs and Grandchildren, it was so sad. But lots of laughter afterwards with cups of tea and cake and seeing old acquaintances, from parties and weddings in the past. She was the wife of DHs best mate and thinking back she drew so many people together over the last 40 odd years that we have known them.
I just hope that the legal stuff doesn’t drag on, although the family deserve to know exactly what happened.
Sorry to go on! But there’s nothing like a birthday the day after a funeral to make you stop and think.
I hope everyone has a good day and love and hugs to those who aren’t feeling so chipper today.
Good morning from a grey NE and rain forecast for most of the day.
Sister went on holiday yesterday, she sent me a message when she was on the road to say they were caught in a tail back from an accident on the A1, It took five and a half hours to get to the Lakes, a journey that normally takes two hours. She said it was very stressful, every road after the A1 was a nightmare too. I think she thought she was going to have a peaceful week's staycation.
DD is bringing my shopping this afternoon and she will stay an hour or two.
Enjoy the weekend.
Good morning all from central Herts where the weather is dull and promises to be wet for most of the day. I guess I'll have to leave the washing till after the weekend, any excuse!
This week we picked some blackberries, the first of the season and made quite a few jars of jam. The amazing thing about it was it set so easily, in the past I've never been able to get it to set well so am thinking because the fruit was not so ripe, perhaps the pectin content was higher. Anyway the end result was good and no dripping jam, for a change.
Nothing special planned for the day, may pick up the nearly-ending crop of runner beans in the garden and cook them fresh, have put quite a few packs in the freezer already.
Wishing all of you a pleasant weekend, and for anyone who has worries, hope they ease gently.
Good morning all from an overcast North Leicestershire.
Yesterday, we heard that DD3 and family are likely to be staying here for a week or so. So, we are going to get in a trip to town while we still can. I have an urge for new kitchen plates etc. The ones we currently have are Denby - lovely but dated!!
Have the best day possible.
Good morning from a dull once again Black country.
Enjoy your time in London Mick and good to see you are well prepared.
Washing on, now time for the full English.
Will catch up later, have the best day you can everyone and may you all find some ?.
And a happy birthday to Oopsadaisy, hope you have a lovely day.
