Good Morning Friday 27th August 2021
(76 Posts)Good morning Mick and al from yet another grey day in E Kent.
I hope that you get the tickets for the women’s tour of Britain. What does you hospitality ticket involve, Mick?
Meeting a friend in Ramsgate for lunch today. I introduced her to a lovely fabric shop there. We don’t really ve any worthwhile craft/sewing shops around here.
A lovely thing happened to me yesterday. I was at my usual market flower shop and took two bunches of gladioli. As I went to pay, I realised that I didn’t have enough money. The lady told me to keep the flowers and to pay her next time I was at the market as I was a regular customer!
I hope today brings relief to those in sorrow or pain, to those with anxiety, May some sunshine ☀️ penetrate their lives. ??☀️??
Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is promised to be a good day.
I tested positive yesterday using a lateral flow and await my PCR results.
I am feeling ok just like a bad cold at the moment.
My biggest concern is what to do about my Nanna duties next week. DD has just returned to work after her own Covid experience and now she will have no childcare. If her family have all had it and are s as ll no negative would you still look after the children if you were me? I really don’t know how to play it. I can isolate in their garden just like my own.
At the moment whilst DH is negative I am confined to the spare room.
Absolutely no plans apart from cleaning piggies out today!
Take care my friends and stay safe ❤️
* all now negative!!
Good morning, all from France!
I am pleased to be safely here, despite lengthy delays at Immigration due to new procedures related to both Brexit and Covid. (However, I wasn't searched so the tea bags and baked beans were safe!) Again, I am so grateful for all the wishes for my journey on the GM thread yesterday and by PM's.
I was warmly welcomed by both my boys, but only one is in the picture! The other one, olddudders, is making slow progress with his back recovery, being able to sleep supine in bed all night now, rather than upright on the sofa.
What a kind gesture regarding the flowers, grandMattie which will bring its own reward in customer loyalty.
A difficult predicament for you , Scentia, in which the PCR result will play a part. Please take care of yourself most of all.
Wishing you all a happy day. ????
Message withdrawn at poster's request.
Good morning Mick & all.
grandMattie
You're somewhere near me.
I'm in Thanet, near Cliftonville.
Ashcombe
Don't they do decent tea bags and baked beans in France? ? I'm sure they'll be shocked that you don't like their fine fare!
Quiet here so far. I'm up for 4 days of freedom as him indoors is off to see his daughter. Not that I'll be bored, with all the housework that's to do ready for him bring her back with him and grandchild #5. So much yo put out of sight and reach! Lol
Have a great day, everyone xx
Ali08: unfortunately, no! If they do, we haven't found them yet! Some supermarkets have shelves labelled British products which contain items like tinned pies, custard powder, baked beans, Lipton's tea bags, etc but all at a price.
I’m so happy for you both, Scentia and especially for you Ash. Lovely photo BTW!
Ali08, I’m a bit further south.
Good morning Mick and all. It’s another grey start here in north Kent but just heard that summer has been going very nicely in Scotland and Ireland which means this summer has apparently been a hot one.
Not here it hasn’t, but happy (though ever so slightly envious) for those up north.
Going shoe shopping for GC returning to school next week.
Have a peaceful day everyone.
Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s dry and I can see some blue sky. There is dew on the cars.
Thank you for my birthday wishes yesterday.
Happy sunny Birthday to Urms ???
I’ve the weekly shop to do this morning and some washing. This afternoon will go to see Beechnutella, for the third time this week.
I’m glad you’ve arrived safely with Olddudders Ash.
Take care all and have a lovely day ?
Good morning (afternoon in Tassie) lovely photo Ash you both look very happy and I reckon the other unseen as yet fellow does too!
We went up the coast today had coffee at a favourite bakery then roast pork at a pub a bit further on. Just soup for tea tonight I think. Sticking to my diet and not feeling too hungry.
Best wishes to all.
Morning Mick and all
The sun is shining the sky is blue here in S E Essex
We have Master 6 & The Imp this morning, I will go to Aldi when DD returns from work. This evening DH, DD, myself and The Imp are going to a local Thai Restaurant for dinner, will he be good?
Pleased you are safely arrived in France Ashcombe , hope you continue to be OK Scentia
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️?
Good morning all and it’s fine here in Essex.
So lovely to see you arrived safely Ash. What a journey you must have had. A brave lady indeed! You look so cosy and happy to be with olddudders at long last. Wish him well ?
Scentia so pleased to see the negative test now. Your dilemma is sorted and you can resume Nanna duties. ?. These tests seem to be very in inclusive!
GrandMattie it certainly gives you a lift when you see kindness in people. ?.
Today the car goes in for service and MOT. Dh will take it in and walk back. It’s about a 40 minute walk but he won’t get the bus because it will be too early to use his bus pass and he refuses to pay. ??.
I’m watching Olive Kettering on Sky Atlantic . I’ve only just read the book for book club and enjoyed it. The tv film is very good. Anyone watching anything good at the moment?
Nice to ‘see’ you again Urms. Enjoy Malaga. Is your elderly neighbour still there?
Have a happy Friday, everyone.
?
Tests inconclusive
Good morning all from dull Harrogate
Like you Scentia I await the results of a PCR test done yesterday. I feel pretty ropey so hope I’m negative!!
Great news Ash with or without your baked beans!!!
I fear my MacBook has once again gone down the Swanny with a virus, and I know where the virus is from now! So back to work getting it up and running and not falling for low priced items!!
Hope you feel better soon Scentia.
Hope everyone has as a good day as possible
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s another bright sunny start to the day. You’re definitely right silverlining the weather is lovely up here just now and we’ve been lucky to have had a really lovely summer.
Today I’ve grocery shopping to do and probably a bit more work in the garden
I’m not sure what I’d do in your situation Scentia but if your test is positive I hope you aren’t too poorly and recover quickly
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good morning from sunny Colchester.
The grandsons have departed and all is quiet and tidy here again.
Waiting in for a delivery this morning . More laundry on the line and ironing to do while I wait. A little bit of shopping later and then packing for a weekend away visiting family.
Much love to all x
My predictive text correction has caused confusion!! I still await my results which are likely to be positive it is my daughter’s family who are all now negative? sorry
Good morning Mick and All.
Sun and cloud in South Bucks, where is all that warm weather that has been promised ?
So happy you are safely with your two boys Ashcombe. I do like your hair style. Now that lovely lad on your lap appears to have little pointy bits on his ears very cute. ?
Collecting plums from my friend’s porch. She and her DH are well into their 80s but still have 2 allotments, hence all the fruit.
Missing you already Mary
Good morning Mick, morning all from cool and bright South Lanarkshire.
I’m running a little late so haven’t read the thread but will catch up with all the comings and goings later.
My DS had some time off yesterday so joined us on the beach which was an unexpected treat for me and his DDs.
Charity shop for me today, I’m looking forward to it.
Wishing everyone a peaceful day as always.
Good morning from an overcast NE again.
Yesterday was cool and it looks as if we will have the same weather today.
Yesterday's deliveries were good, nothing missing from the orders and the Cote at home arrived just after 8am which meant that we had a choice of nice things for lunch.
Nurse did not visit as promised but she did ring me and ask if she needed to come, I refused to make that decision and handed the phone to DH. Not very professional to ask a spouse if the patient is well enough to be left for another week
Lovely photo Ashcombe, I bet you were welcomed warmly
Heard from family and they are all having much better weather than us, lovely photo of GD on Pen Y Fan in her hiking gear, at 11 years old she is up for any activity.
Infection rates are rising again, take care.
Morning all from North Leicestershire where it is very dull.
Up early to take DH's car for a service. I follow him in and bring him home. Ocado delivery today and ironing to do.
DD3 and co are going home for the weekend but may be back next week depending on the house move.
Good wishes to all and have the best day possible.
Good morning from a sunny Essex by the sea.
Lovely to see you Ash in France. Enjoy your time together.
No plans today.
Best wishes to you all xxx
