I'm certainly not a fan of PM and don't watch GMTV but am wondering if he'll be re instated.

Talking about bullying....................

Alegrias1 Wed 08-Sept-21 10:36:05

I wonder what it is that you are talking about theworriedwell?

Someone telling me that they don't behave like me because they have a life, maybe?

theworriedwell Wed 08-Sept-21 11:15:58

No that's not what I'm talking about. Have a look a see a number of posters picking on one person because she has the cheek to say she has a life, translation she has other things to do.

Did she comment on your life or her own? Did she comment on your intelligence?

Alegrias1 Wed 08-Sept-21 11:23:23

No, I didn't think so.

Oh well, in for a penny.

Somebody made fun of me for googling things. Somebody was sarcastic about whether facts were worth posting, because you can't trust the internet. Somebody told me that they had a life so didn't bother googling things.

Suggesting that the things I do are not worth much because another person doesn't do them because they have a life isn't insulting?

Well we live on different planets. You don't get to be snide and insulting about a person and then cry bully when they stand up for themselves. Sauce for the goose, and all that.

theworriedwell Wed 08-Sept-21 11:30:50

It wasn't just about you, several of you piled in and actually you weren't very nice with your comment about intelligence. Just to clarify I wasn't the person who was ganged up on, she didn't cry bully. As an outsider that was definitely how it looked to me.

Alegrias1 Wed 08-Sept-21 11:38:59

I can't be held responsible for the postings of other people. Maybe they all agreed with me and disagreed with other people. Several people giving the same point of view isn't piling on, just because it disagrees with one post. I pointed out that people with sufficient intelligence can tell truth from lies and disinformation, even on the internet.

The moral of the story - posters shouldn't try to be intentionally disparaging of people unless they're willing to stand up for themselves. Or if they don't understand how rude they are being, learn from the experience.

^Yet here you are, finding time in your busy schedule to try to insult me.smile^

There’s been no attempt to insult you. Merely stating facts and believe it or not it’s another scorcher here and I’m off out again.

Summerlove I don’t appreciate being called ignorant by you and scouring google for so called facts isn’t my idea of being enlightened or informed.

That’s ok. All opinions are ok. Opinions are facts.

We are all allowed opinions.

That’s the party line isn’t it?

If you are referring to my comment I stand by it. In no way was I bullying Tickingbird I was pointing out something that I find
very unkind, intentional or not, to people who may well not “have something better to do “ It happens a lot as a put down on GN

Theworriedwell

I’ve only just seen this because I’ve been otherwise engaged - in enjoyable company, in the sunshine and watching the US Open tennis.

Very good of you to call out the bullies because that’s what they are but I hadn’t seen their comments until now and certainly wouldn’t have been the slightest bit bothered by them if I had.

Alegrias You made a point on another thread of saying that posters use “having other things to do” as an excuse when they have lost the debate. Now you’re saying it’s insulting you. I’m not responsible for how you perceive my comments. I do have much better things to do in this glorious weather and I’m about to do them. If I get time I’ll pop back tomorrow. In the meantime maybe ponder on your own words Or if they don't understand how rude they are being, learn from the experience.

Summerlove Opinions are facts No they really aren’t. They’re just opinions. Helpful if you can discern facts from opinions.

Rushing and posted too soon.

The above post by you Lucca typifies the double standards employed by some in this forum. ‘Having something better to do’ is usually seen as an admission of defeat in a debate by the more combative, have the last word type of poster. I can only speak for myself but doubtless many are the same - I genuinely do have better things to do smile

Alegrias1 Thu 09-Sept-21 11:47:24

Okey doke tickingbird, I think we all understand now that your life is a social whirl.

The fact that anyone might think that Summerlove was being serious really just finishes the conversation off nicely here, doesn't it?

Galaxy Thu 09-Sept-21 11:57:30

Why is life being a whirl seen as superior anyway, I am sat on the sofa, watching the rain and messing about on the internet. I am very happy about that. Tomorrow I may go out and do something thrilling. One is not more superior than the other.

Alegrias1 Thu 09-Sept-21 12:06:56

If I was having a conversation with somebody, and decided to say to them, "well I don't think what you do in your life is very interesting and I'm leaving now because I have much better things to do";

I think that would be considered rude and insulting, wouldn't you?

nanna8 Thu 09-Sept-21 12:54:36

Well there’s nothing much on the telly, we are not allowed to go out in Miserable Melbourne because of a curfew where they shoot you down if you go outside after 9 pm so I am doing this because I have a boring life just now ….hope you feel sorry for me because I sure as hell do.

Namsnanny Thu 09-Sept-21 13:02:00

What's the point in arguing with an anonymous poster on line when any life beckons?

Namsnanny Thu 09-Sept-21 13:07:53

Yes I do nanna8?
I'm doing Important things myself, ie cleaning up the lawn (inbetween the showers) after we dog sat for a couple of days.
Checking I ordered the right sized bra and reading gn

My point exactly.

JenniferEccles Thu 09-Sept-21 14:10:05

I did laugh at your “they shoot you down if you go outside after 9pm” comment nanna8 !
Things didn’t get quite that bad here in the UK but we have had our moments.

During the first lockdown last Spring drones were used to spot hapless dog walkers on deserted moors, then the police ordered them home. We have always been permitted daily exercise outside during every lockdown.
Then pensioners were turfed off park seats if they dared to sit down for a short breather.

Oh yes and then there were the two young women out for a permitted walk but they were sent home as the takeaway coffees they were carrying apparently constituted a picnic which was verboten!
Fortunately the press got to hear of those cases and all that nonsense did stop.

I think virtually every country has suffered to a greater or smaller extent if that’s a comfort to you.

At least here we were always ‘allowed’ out for a daily walk unlike the Spanish and Italians who were confined to barracks !

Sorry that was nothing to do with this thread!
I am most definitely on Piers Morgan’s side.

Namsnanny Thu 09-Sept-21 15:31:30

I'd forgotten all about those things JenniferEcclessmile
Free speech has to be supported.
Or we will be living in an echo chamber.

Oh dear Alegrias. Talk about clutching at straws! I wasn’t having any conversation with you and have no idea what you do in your life apart from posting on here and searching google for ‘facts’. I was accused of being thick basically because I do have better things to do and coming out on top here really ranks very low on my priorities. Strange that you find that so offensive.

Lucca My point exactly Actually you weren’t making any point - I was!

Anyway must dash - friend’s birthday bash tonight. She’s 60 and having a do. Should be fun. grin

Lucca Fri 10-Sept-21 17:26:38

And so it goes on.

Lucca Fri 10-Sept-21 17:27:54

Well there you peckingbird, I thought I was.

It's not funny, though! Australian police are using tear gas, pepper spray and rubber bullets on citizens - unheard of in Australia.
