Sorry. That sounded "all about me" It was meant to give hope to others going through cancer treatment. Sarah's cancer had spread before she was diagnosed and stage four is treatable but not curable.

It didn't sound all about me at all. I am glad your daughter remains well xx

Poor Sarah. She was so beautiful and certainly lived life to the full.

Covid hit not long after she felt lumps in her arm pits. Maybe she would have had a better chance with earlier treatment. It is a double whammy and dreadfully sad for her mum and family and friends
At least she lived her short life to the full and has left a footprint. Very sad and sobering

Jean I too have a dd with bc and though her treatment is finished, every ache and pain she gets brings back that gut wrenching fear.
It does bring comfort to know that young women do get through this, so your post was helpful.
I think of all parents in the same terrible situation and think today of Sarah’s mum.

Grandmajean your post is a good illustration of the sad lottery of breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Some women recover and some tragically don't.
My Mum had a mastectomy at the age of 69 with no further treatment required. Guess she was one of the lucky ones.

I knew she was ill but it was still a shock to hear that she had died. Beautiful girl, so so sad….

I believe that she delayed going to the doctors due to Covid. So sad when she would have been seen and possibly had treatment earlier with maybe a better outcome. It proves that you should not delay seeking help. Very sad for someone so young.

Grandmajean, you have every right to say what you feel, I know you have been through the horror of breast cancer with your daughter and I know from personal experience how kind and supportive you are to those experiencing the same.
My lovely 39 year old daughter-in-law has stage two and has just started her chemo journey. It is personal.
So very sad to hear about Sarah. Her poor family must be devastated.
It is good and very reassuring to talk about the success stories of the survivors. Don’t ever feel bad for speaking out. You are doing a lot of good. Thank you.

This gives me chills. I have followed Sarah's career and I remember her announcing her terminal diagnosis last year.

I have also had BC but was better placed in many ways.

Can I just quickly ask ladies (and guys here too) to check their necks and armpits, as well as breast tissue. Lumps aren't always found on the actual breast area.

So, so sad her life is over at just 39 years old, my heart goes out to her family and friends. A girl who enjoyed life and has had it taken away by this dreadful disease.

You are right WWM. My GP told me that older post menopausal women have much better outcomes from bc. than younger women.
I hadn’t heard of her either, but whoever it is, it’s so sad for everyone in this situation.

I’ve heard that too. Something to do with breast cancer being oestrogen driven.

Very sad. Potentially an indirect victim of Covid as because of her anxieties around infection she delayed seeking medical help when she felt something was amiss

I haven't listened to pop music since 1970 but hearing of the death of this young woman was hard, since I lost a friend aged forty to the same brutal illness; she had two little children too. and I've just had surgery for breast cancer myself, fortunately small and caught early. RIP Sarah Harding.

Sarah was the niece of my old friend Pat. I remember when the TV prog that put Girls Aloud together was on and Pat called everyone she knew to get us to vote for Sarah, which we duly did. She always seemed a terrific sparky sort and this outcome is so very sad.
And yes - it seems the younger you are the more brutally this disease whizzes through the body. I had a schoolfriend who died at only 26 from it, and another really good mate who - at 59 - died just 3 weeks ago. Keep checking and keep getting the mammograms, everyone.

Another loss of life at a young age. Dd died at 47. Had all the treatments then found a spread 4 months later. Told in March she wouldn't see her birthday in September. Died 3 weeks later. Don't know the classification of BC Sarah had but if Triple Negative very difficult to stop. So sad.

Cancer spreads via the circulation system. The younger you are, the faster your circulation, and the quicker it spreads.

Female cancers seem particularly aggressive though

Breast cancer is a weird one in that you are never cured. Most cancers are said to be cured if no recurrence in five years. Not so with breast cancer. The only reassurance you have are the words " No Evidence of Disease" at any checkups. My daughter was given this information re breast cancer from the excellent centres where she was treated - Countess of Chester and Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology.

Such awful news I was saddened to hear it although I know from her SM things had taken a dramatic change for the worst. RIP Sarah you were taken far too young ??

Saw Girls Aloud at Wembley, supporting Coldplay, they were brilliant and so full of life and energy. Very sad.

I found your post hopeful for others and deeply grateful for your daughter still being with you. Uplifting and in no way too personal.

So sad, such a beautiful young woman. Whether or not covid had anything to do with it in this case, there are probably thousands more who, over the past 18 months, decided not to go see their GP because they found what they thought was an insignifcant lump and with 13 million people still waiting for hospital treatment in the UK we will, tragically, hear of many more like this. R.I.P. Sarah.
