In my case, Benidorm?

Rhyl
Used to go there for holidays as a child about 60 years ago. It was lovely then but has really deteriorated over the years.
Dominican Republic felt afraid there.

I was in New York for the first time in 2019, and was actually surprised at how helpful people were. Although I was meeting up with family there, I travelled to and from alone. I used the subway to get from JFK to Brooklyn, and when there was no escalators, not once did I have to take my suitcase up or down stairs. People offered. When needing directions, staff came out of shops to point the way. I was very lucky.
I wouldn’t go back to Blackpool. A day was enough.

Skegness. Smell of fish and chips and noise of Bingo callers. Most resorts on the East Coast. I lived on the South Coast most of my life.
Love the remote areas of Provence.

Just goes to show doesn't it? I can't believe someone doesn't think The Amalfi coast is beautiful. We all think differently.

Exactly

Not convinced.

I wouldn't have minded so much if its praises hadn't been constantly sung...

DF served in The Gambia in the RAF. The place was known as ‘Halfdie’ because half did, due to malaria.

Grimsby - where it was grim.

We went to Igoldmells every Easter in our caravan when my children were little we loved it. Funnily enough my daughter went with her children a couple of weeks ago she said it's exactly the same

Turkey, Egypt, parts of China, parts of India, basically anywhere where you are constantly hassled and followed round by people trying to part you from your money…. I can’t understand why they do it: I love buying souvenirs but I like to be allowed to view things in my own time, if I am hassled I just don’t buy…

Prague. Beautiful city but the people need to be sent to charm school.

Redhead56 Tue 14-Sept-21 17:30:47

We went to Rome for a rugby match. We asked at reception for toilet roll as we had ran out. When we went for breakfast a single toilet roll was plonked on our table I was mortified.

You know Barry isn't that bad, Ignore the tat and tack and you can enjoy lovely walks along the top and then along the beaches at low tide, and go walking over the rocks if you are still sure-footed. On a summer evening the water is often warmed by the day's sun and on occasion, when much younger, I sometimes went in. There are great views across the Channel to Exmoor etc and great views of the islands.

Can't think of any place I wouldn't want to go back to, but haven't been to that many. But there was one awful hotel in London near Finsbury Road, a very last minute booking. The manager looked at us as if we weren't her usual type of customer, the plastic teaspoon melted in the cup of tea I made and I did not dare use the shower. Breakfast was put on floors outside the room as place was being refurbished etc.

Santorini is beautiful but I wouldn't go back as the airport us too small and there was no assistance there. We were crammed in like sardines and had to guess which queue to join for our flight home.

Panda25 Tue 14-Sept-21 17:48:11

Dubai or Blackpool

Jaxie Tue 14-Sept-21 17:48:26

Salford Keys. Miserable, grey, freezing cold.

Smileless2012 Tue 14-Sept-21 17:50:49

South of France far too expensive.

Aveline Tue 14-Sept-21 17:51:33

I saw this on TripAdvisor. Somehow I doubt that reviewer will be returning!

fairfraise Tue 14-Sept-21 17:52:53

One place I didn't want to return to was what we thought was going to be a pub in NZ, which apparently only burst into life on rugby days. It had a shirt from my home town rugby team on the walls but no one could explain the link, if any. And you do feel like strangers in town when you go into a place like that.

Bars there are quite different to those here but the country is beautiful and the people great.

The summit of Snowdon. I went there first in the 1950s in the winter, it was wild and cold and very atmospheric, now it has steps and queues, no feeling of remoteness or mystery at all.
