Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness

I woke to a misty morning and smiled because I love, love, love the autumn.
Possibly because I was born in the autumn or because I suit Autumn colours? Who knows ..

I love everything about it , the temperature, colours, smells , clothes , watching the harvest come in , getting stuck behind tractors included!

What is your favourite season?

I would hate to miss any of the seasons, but might cut down on the length of winter ... By the time February has come I've usually had enough of cleaning muddy dogs, no sun, no washing drying on the line and lingering figs. The bright days in winter along with the cosy casseroles etc are lovely, but could be squashed into a month or so please. Spring is such a miracle; I'm always relieved the plants and trees are going for it again. Too hot summers could have a little shaved off them maybe too, though I love not having to wear layers when out walking. Autumn is fantastic too. I'm Spring born.

Figs? If only ? fogs I meant

I can't decide between Autumn and Spring - I think it's the transitionist in me, I tend to like the full-blown less than the transitional intervals.

Winter - long dark nights starting early. Christmas approaching and after that the promise of spring.

Snow and frost, I hope and no need to feel guilty about the state of the garden, as no-one gardens in the winter!

I can bake, clean, polish and generally enjoy housekeeping, sew, knit etc.

Yes Autumn for me, although I was born in the Spring.

songstress60 Fri 17-Sept-21 11:56:28

Spring is my favourite even when it rains because all the flowers are coming out and the lovely light nights are on their way. I don't like autumn even though we have lovely colours because you get that awful darkness. I was born in February.

Spring or Autumn

dirgni Fri 17-Sept-21 12:41:31

The summer is my absolute favourite! I was born in July!!

Rosina Fri 17-Sept-21 12:44:33

NotAGran me too! I can hardly wait, as I endure hot days often with humidity that ruins sleep, until September comes with the long shadows, golden sunlight, clear blue skies and the warm but fresh feeling of Autumn - and the colours! My garden becomes a thing of beauty in the Autumn, as there is Boston Ivy along the back fences of the houses, and entwined in some of the smaller trees. It is heavenly - there is a poem about following Autumn around the world, and how lovely it would be to do that.

I was born in June but hate summer with its humid heat and absolutely love Autumn and Spring. I can cope with winter and much prefer dressing for cooler weather than hot weather. The colours of Autumn are beautiful as is the welcome coolness.

Autumn all the way for me! It has a kind of spiritual atmosphere that makes feel closer to nature....the air is special...seem to be able to smell the country side even more than usual....the leaves, the trees, the earth... and the colours of the leaves before they fall, misty mornings & evenings, a certain stillness...very, very special time of year...love it!

Late Spring/Maytime.

Autumn is my favourite season too. Again, my birthday and on the run up to the ‘C’ word grin

The football season.

Autumn and Winter.

I love the colours of Autumn, the smell of bonfires, picking apples and other autumn fruits, seeing the harvest being gathered in from the fields around us, and watching the birds feed on the rose hips etc. I don't like the wet fallen leaves on the pavements - dangerous!

I love the crisp cold days of Winter, thick snuggly sweaters, frost patterns on the garden shrubs and window panes, snow (when we get it), curling up by a roaring fire with a good book and a mug of hot chocolate, tasty casseroles and steamed puddings, and of course Christmas which I absolutely LOVE, even the shopping!

I love Winter. I think its because when we were little we would be sat in front of the fire after a bath with a steaming mug of milky coffee and the wind howling outside.

Bluecat Fri 17-Sept-21 14:40:54

Summer. I like the sunshine and
the gardens in bloom. Autumn would be more enjoyable if it wasn't spider season, when the hideous things move indoors. Don't enjoy winter much at all. Spring flowers signal that winter is ending, and I love to see the trees in blossom.

Alioop Fri 17-Sept-21 14:57:44

Autumn for me too. I love walking the dog in the cooler mornings and the colours changing on the trees. Only thing is winter will be next and I hate it, cold, dark and depressing.

Sueki44 Fri 17-Sept-21 15:23:42

I love Autumn! Admittedly I was born in October, but I like the run up to Christmas: Halloween, Bonfire Night, Advent calendars etc. I now have a little granddaughter and I look forward to her excitement. It’s not about ‘things’ but crunching through leaves , carving pumpkins ( turnips in my day),making potato print wrapping paper and amateurish cards.Bring it on!

missdeke Fri 17-Sept-21 15:35:53

All these Autumn lovers made me think of this www.youtube.com/watch?v=77rinB5pYqA&ab_channel=doroty66 although I'm another Winter baby who prefers Summer.

Bridie22 Fri 17-Sept-21 17:21:24

Summer, I dislike being cold ?

Quichette Fri 17-Sept-21 17:22:53

Autumn for me please. Fall colours are beautiful in the U.S..
