I’ve had a lovely day today, the gym for a splash about this morning and then a relaxing pampering session at the hairdressers this afternoon. I’m lucky that I’ve got such a lovely hairdresser so easy to talk to get along with. My hair is now looking much better as the grey roots are gone, wish there was something to make it thicker though

Phone call earlier from my amazing daughter who had an interview today and accepted a promotion, she’s a single parent and deserves everything she has worked so hard for. I did have slightly leaky eyes and am inordinately proud.

Well the kitchen is fair buzzing tonight isn’t it?

It was my stepfather’s 89th birthday today. Such a lovely man. He’s a ‘listener’ rather than a ‘talker’. No wonder he’s popular wherever he goes ... seriously.

We enjoyed a wee dram of malt with him this afternoon. I’ve elbowed ‘Dixon’ tonight to share a photo. We laughed at my pronunciation of the label on the bottle he poured! Gaelic sounds nothing like it’s written does it?

Charlie cat has had his vaccinations today and has been told he is doing very well for 17. We bought him a new bed ( don’t tell him it was designed for a dog!) and he has settled into it already!
DH has made a delightful curry tonight but oh my days it was hot! Ice cream was needed to reduce the fire.

Quick visit tonight as shattered ! DS and GC just gone after a long visit which included the two GC getting us all to do yoga poses ! They were hard work and I thought yoga was supposed to be relaxing. It was lovely to have their company but I was shoving them out of the door at 8.45 as they always seem to procrastinate !

I'm first here! Good morning and a good day to all. Drizzly and cool here. Going to look after my grandchildren so my daughter and husband can have lunch out. Both DDs fully recovered from Covid now.
Went to a few shops yesterday including our local agricultural/animal feed/gardening equipment place (not sure what you call these places). Bought treats for ddog and a fleecy blanket to protect the sofa he lies on. Also some lovely pale yellow pansies which I put in window box. I am now going to read Friday's posts ..Have a good day everyone. Be kind to yourselves.

All news caught up with. So much happens in the kitchen in one day. The company is lovely.

Looking at a rain splattered window this morning and the lights are on. The log burner is glowing but the temperature in our little cottage is struggling to get above 18°. I have three layers on. We seem to have the rain set in till well past midday and then only reducing to light showers. Yesterday's weather was glorious. Another lie in for the two of us but MrM was up and about at 7:30 and now in his boy's shed. Not surfaced yet.

How did the children's theatre show go Grandmabatty?

Blossoming, Susan and Urm. Yes we are both enjoying ourselves. There's lots of indoor chat and I love to listen to DD and her step-dad talking. She's now known MrM for 8 years and their relationship has grown and grown. She stopped talking to her father 30 years ago, as I did! Those days were not happy ones for us both. MrM refers to DD as my girl. ?

Somehow I made a fiery paella last night Nannytopsy. DD wanted some chillies in it and I found some in the freezer but I wasn't sure how long they had been there. Definitely more than a year. In they went though -finely chopped. Freezing seemed to have increased their intensity ?

A few mentions today but you're all in my thoughts. However, my last mention is for soop. You were wondering, at the end of the last kitchen how many there had been. I wondered when the kitchen first opened it doors to so many lovely people and cakes. After a quick GN search (if that is possible!) I found one in 2012. The posts then as now were so supportive and welcoming and brought on leaky eyes and a smile.

Muse we have similar weather here, and I must admit to a very long lie-in! The duvet was so warm and I didn’t want to leave my cosy nest. I love to drink my morning tea (made daily by Mr. B) sitting in bed, reading emails, etc. I spent years getting up very early and going to work so I think I’ve earned it.

Good afternoon kitcheners! I wrote a very long post this morning then pressed the wrong button and lost the whole bloomin thing!? Soop your tartan boots are great! I'd love a pair.
The weather was gorgeous at seven o'clock this morning with a lovely clear blue sky and no wind to speak of, however the rain which was forecast has arrived. I've only just put the heating off as it was cold earlier too. I had a good five hours sleep without waking so got up at seven and enjoyed the rubbish on Talking TV for a while. I have done most of the housework and put mince in the slow cooker for mince, tatties and dumplings later. Muse I couldn't be doing with a cold house! I hope you have warmed up.
To my theatre visit - it was 'interesting''. The young people seemed to enjoy themselves but it was very under rehearsed and the stage management was woefully slow between scenes. However there were some fairly good actors and a couple of singer's who managed not to go flat. ? I was in a youth theatre when younger, then involved heavily in amateur drama all my life so I recognise when something is good. This wasn't! But who cares what I think? Those children loved being on stage performing and being applauded. I enjoyed being out, although I was anxious regarding crowds and folk not wearing masks. Some didn't but I kept mine on all the time.
I've tried to add a photo of the cakes my very creative dd made for her friend's baby's baptism today.
I'm going to have poached eggs with avocado on sourdough toast for lunch. One of my favourites. I hope you are having a good Saturday.

Today, our eldest DGD goes off to university for the first time.
She is going to Lancaster, so a long way north of home in Cambridgeshire.!
I'm sure she will be OK, but we will all miss her, especially her parents, brother & sister.
They are travelling this afternoon as far as Blackburn, & onwards tomorrow.
(apparently they have a book-in time allotted, since Covid).

We are in charge of their youngest/smallest dog for a couple of days, & the 2 bigger dogs are off to local kennels.
(The dogs will miss DGD too)!!!

Tillytrotter and Gillgran thank you on her behalf! She is regularly asked to make cakes for folk. As well as looking good, they taste amazing. I know I'm biased. ☺️ As she's now 30 weeks pregnant, working hard and with a toddler, she has wisely said these will be the last. Gill I would offer to share, but it's all finished! I have managed to make perfect, slightly runny poached eggs for a couple of years now. Beforehand they were hit or miss. Annsixty I hope things went well with your refusal. I'm worried on your behalf.

Best wishes to your DGD for starting Uni Gillgran it’s such a milestone step and I hope she settles in well. I still remember taking my DS to his first day at York University and feeling like I’d just abandoned him to fend for himself and crying buckets on the way home - silly I know but it’s what mums do!
