Boat thanks for your canal boat posts. It sounds like a very relaxed enjoyable lifestyle.
A very late good morning FannyCornforth.

Good morning to you too nadateturbe

I’ve started a thread about boat life. I’m really interested in it. It does seem quite an accessible way to have an alternative lifestyle.
I like the idea of the simplicity and the lack of ‘stuff’.

Well here I am again, awake since two.

FannyC you are right about lack of stuff. when I sold my house I gave all the furniture and things like crockery to charity. I moved on to a 63ft narrow boat and had to give even more away. Now I live on a 47ft boat and more has had to go.

I'm left thinking did I really ever need any of this stuff.

Hello I’m drinking tea and hoping my aching shoulder will reduce since glugging down a paracetamol.

I had a friend who lived on a narrow boat, she and her husband
were very happy there. I think there was quite a community of riverside folk. When her DH died she moved to a small house which she renovated but still remained part of the canal society where she met her second husband. A few months after they got married she sadly died. We gave a small contribution to the Canal Society in her memory.

Sorry don’t know why my comment appears twice. ?

Good morning boat and Kate!
I haven’t read your posts yet, so I’ll just pop the kettle on and come back…brewmoon

FannyCornforth Mon 11-Oct-21 04:22:13

Kate I think that the posting mechanism (or whatever on earth it’s called) is a bit on the blink

NanKate Mon 11-Oct-21 04:23:56

Hello Fanny.and Boat isn’t a cuppa comforting in the night? Plus a Rich Tea biscuit. Need to settle back down now.

FannyCornforth Mon 11-Oct-21 04:51:44

You’re right Kate
It’s the familiar routine and even just holding a warm mug. I suppose that’s what mindfulness is about (I’ve always struggled with the whole ‘mindfulness’ thing)

harrigran Mon 11-Oct-21 05:05:06

I was just thinking of going to make a cup of tea.
I heard DH call out and went to see to him, I am wide awake now and my shoulder is painful after my vaccination yesterday. I really could have done with more sleep but I will try and rest later.

FannyCornforth Mon 11-Oct-21 05:24:15

Oh no, hope that you feel better soon harrigran and manage to get some rest

MissAdventure Mon 11-Oct-21 05:50:48

I'm awake.
Itching, itching, itching!!!
Aches, pains, and more itching! angry

FannyCornforth Mon 11-Oct-21 05:57:39

Oh lord MissA I used to have that! I even started a thread about it! I believe that it’s a menopause/ premenopause / post menopause thing (isn’t everything hmm)
I had it worst in my 30s. It would make me physically jump and wake me up. Dreadful
I’ve started taking hrt (3 months in) and I don’t get it now.
Do you take antihistamines for it? It’s worth a try

MissAdventure Mon 11-Oct-21 06:02:12

I must look like a gorilla, sitting here scratching my big fat belly!
I'm really not very well, and that is causing the itching, but I dare not take anything for it, as I'm taking a wheelbarrow full of meds every day.
Ironically, I'm also worrying about asking my doc for a "fit note" as it's now called.

nanna8 Mon 11-Oct-21 06:06:06

I get that itching from time to time too. I keep a tube of pawpaw cream next to the bed (cheap from Aldi) which seems to help - so does the back scratcher! How is it that itches on your back are always just out of reach? It is late afternoon here, just been for a walk with a couple of friends all masked up which is what we have to do here. Crazy place.

MissAdventure Mon 11-Oct-21 06:09:44

My arms seem to have shrunk.
There is a large expanse of my back that a canter reach, either from the top or the bottom.

MissAdventure Mon 11-Oct-21 06:10:41

A canter. angry
Rightio phone. You just write what you want.

FannyCornforth Mon 11-Oct-21 06:11:20

You’ve started me off now MissA!

MissAdventure Mon 11-Oct-21 06:14:12

Sorry! grin
Spoilt your peaceful thread now.
Lots of maniacal women scratching now.

nadateturbe Mon 11-Oct-21 06:22:53

Good morning everyone. One of my comments appeared twice yesterday.
Re stuff. When we are at the caravan my husband brings his guitar stuff and I bring my paints. We don't need or miss any of the clutter in the house at all. And we have a basic tv/dvd player. Its hard to let go of possessions though which are associated with memories.
I hope you are both ok Harrigran. I couldn't sleep on my arm for 3 nights and then it was fine.
And you too * MissAdventure*. The itching sounds so uncomfortable.
FannyCornforth mindfulness meditation really helps me at times.
Going to have a quick read and hopefully another short sleep. Had two nights wonderful sleep after stabbing myself in the foot with a sharp pointed knife. I think the shock exhausted me. (Its fine. Lots of blood but small cut)

MissAdventure Mon 11-Oct-21 06:29:37

Good morning.
I hope you get back to sleep, nadadeturbe. smile

nadateturbe Mon 11-Oct-21 06:33:26

Just noticed some posts I missed. You made me laugh MissAdventure.
I keep a backscratcher by the bed too.

nadateturbe Mon 11-Oct-21 06:34:29

Thanks MissA off to read ?

MissAdventure Mon 11-Oct-21 06:35:31

A cup of tea for me, I think.
