Thanks for all the lovely warm welcomes. I have been around for a wee while and heard all about the parties, looked at the lovely boots, enjoyed the stunning garden pictures and the little lit mouse, joined in as you welcomed a new grandson and got excited with you for a visit from a son in the US. Shared your health worries and anxieties, bad backs and neck pain. Particularly marvelled at the care and concern for each other and the nurturing by the amazing Soop.
Have to say I was a little concerned when swapping of the ironing of husband’s shirts was discussed but when no keys in a bowl were mentioned I relaxed.
I’m afraid I’m not much of a cook or baker but am happy to be a taster if required.
I do hope that things get sorted out to help you GrannySomerset, you’ve been an absolute brick for so long.

I suspect Urmstongran was trying to fob her husband’s ironing off on me Pollytickle as she is the top lazygran! I didn’t even have to iron Mr. B’s shirt in the end, as he did it himself while I was in the shower

Awful weather here today, I am trying out my new John Lewis Anyday thermal base layers. They are lovely, light and warm, but obviously designed for a much taller person than me. That doesn’t matter under jeggings and a long sleeved top though. A little tidying, sorting and washing done earlier. I’m now feeling tired and sleepy, am reading a really interesting book about the origins of the Wars of the Roses. I love history, I wish it had been taught in a more interesting way at school. Today’s lessons seem to be presented in a more engaging fashion, and not just learning a list of dates.

Brook splashing and blethering sounds like great fun, I must have a look if anything is available locally. So many places closed due to Covid and some may never re-open. Ideally I could do with a hydrotherapy pool suitable for my impairments. I’m keen to get fitter, lockdown hasn’t done me much good! It really is a case of “use it or lose it” and I seem to have had so many setbacks lately. My bashed foot is much better, I can wiggle my toes again. The big toe is still quite sore but definitely healing.

Glad Mr, M is still improving muse. Hope your daughter gets everything sorted.

Disappointment in cornerland this afternoon. The consultants secretary has been in touch to say all his appointments for this week have had to be cancelled. She should be able to make a new one on Wednesday but not for some weeks. It can’t be helped. I hope he’s not ill, he’s a pleasant man.

Pleased your foot is mending blossoming. Hope you can sort a hydrotherapy pool. I made good use of one before we moved here. Foolishly I didn’t check there was one local to our new home. There isn’t and I miss it.

Off to sort food now. Take care everyone.

Nice to meet you Pollytickle.I like your style! Yesterday I had a welcome visit from my cousin, who has taken a first opportunity to visit from her home in Florida. It was good to get together and catch up with family news, also have a good lunch at a local pub/restaurant - at what point does a pub become a gastro-pub?
Today is wet and dark. It doesn't help that the tall trees the other side of the brook cut off the light at this time of year, though in summer the sun is just about high enough. Looking forward to a visit to family in not-too-distant future. Certain teenager needs a good granny-talk!

Pleased MrM is healing muse, it’s taken a while, also pleased your toes are too Blossoming. But, as you say *corner rather disappointing to say the least.
Phone call from DS earlier, needed a lift to GP after a phone consult at 3, appointment 4:50. (DS not registered with his new practice yet, words were said!). DS has had ‘the cold’. GP said the lining of his lungs are inflamed, compounded by his scoliosis, Naproxen and omeprazole dispensed. So, while I was playing Uber; DD and the GC’s were at home, they’d called in to say hello and grab some tea, I’d left MrJ in charge, fortunately just timing stuff in the oven and cooking frozen peas which he managed with aplomb ?! Cooking in any shape or form is not his bag, grandson, 8, gets brownie points by saying it was the best dinner ever, creep…diary was updated for child sitting duties.
Hall, stairs and landing being decorated tomorrow, not much to clear, the lovely decorator, a friend, will be doing the l.room next week.

Back from the hospital a couple of hours ago. Snuggly now in my pj’s, waiting for our meal, chicken thighs - another 20 minutes in the oven so thought I’d bob into the kitchen while I’m waiting.

The MR scan went well. The lovely radiographer gave me ear plugs to pop in, headphones on with loud music to distract from the LOUD vibratory noise of the (brand new!) scanner. She said ‘it’ll be about 20 minutes’. I felt a bit panicky when a plastic cage with mirror went over my head so I closed my eyes. I only opened them once during the procedure and immediately regretted it as the closed in sensation made me jittery. Deep breaths.... To calm myself, I had counted 7 songs as being about 3 minutes each = 21 minutes and felt relieved as each song finished. I liked Katy Perry singing ‘ROAR!’ best it drowned out the scanner best of the bunch! Bang in the middle of the last song, the vibrating stopped. All done. Relief!!

Now to wait to receive an appointment with the ENT consultant. I’m such a worry wart - if it comes too soon I’ll think it’s bad news. Health anxiety is an awful thing. I wish I wasn’t such a scaredy-cat.

Glad that’s over Urms and you coped OK. I close my eyes and pretend I’m lying on a beach in the sun. Otherwise I’d be screaming and trying to claw my way out I really hate small spaces and anything over my face!

Well done Urmstongran for lasting the 20 plus minutes????The last time I went for am MRI scan they were running late and I panicked and left?ended up having a CT scan instead.

Just back from picking up GS from Cubs. I enjoy doing it as it takes me back to the Brownie and Guide run with my own daughter. My son never fancied Cubs. I asked him recently why not as his own son loves it. Answer -" I was scared I wouldn't know anyone". Childhood fears are odd but very real at the time.

We are going to the local Methodist church tomorrow which is a drop in centre for Covid boosters. It is six months now since our second jab so can have the third.

Internet off for two hours last night and it was as though the world had ended. I wasn't too bad until my Kindle wouldn't work. I found a real book ! Kindle actually just needed re-booting ( get me ! ) and it was fine but how different life is with all these gadgets. We often say that our parents ( long dead ) would not understand half of what we say nowadays !

You have written my exact thoughts and feelings about an MRI Urms. The last one I had was at the beginning of May, only undertaken after I’d attended a claustrophobia clinic. I’m still waiting for the results - no letter has been sent to my GP and the hospital phone line is permanently engaged. I’ve been told I have to have an MRI annually. ?‍♀️ Ugh!

Blossoming I shall be digging my thermals out from the back of a drawer on Wednesday. I’ve been invited to supper that evening to celebrate a friend’s 80th birthday. It’s going to take place in a ‘shed’ that a local hotel has installed to help with Covid safety. The sheds have no doors so it’ll be thermals, my winter coat and I’ll be taking a blanket with me!

I have to report that the Xmas puds are still unmade. ? I had a migraine overnight and I just couldn’t be bothered. I did manage to get out and buy the missing ingredients so I should be good to go tomorrow. I’m not sure what day it will be tomorrow, as I spent today until early afternoon thinking it was Monday.

I’ve also had to negotiate Amazon’s returns system this evening. I ordered a book and when it came, the entire package was in a plastic bag, which seemed odd. When I peered in it was obvious a brown liquid had been spilt somewhere and the wrapping and book were all stained. The only way I can return it is via a sorting office. Annoying.

We had our regular Covid testing done today. We are part of the ONS research project and do monthly PCR’s. A lovely start to the day, excavating one’s tonsils and brain! Speaking of which, a child in my London GS’s class has Covid, which is putting my ds2’s visit to us this weekend in doubt. I really, really want CV to go away now!
