Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and wet here in Brackley this morning, today a quiet day for me small shop early ,and then stay in .
Yesterdays bus trip , ended up with me leaving home earlier than planned due to the southbound A43 being closed , the journey was longer by about 15 minutes , caused by the diversion as Anglia Water was dealing with a burst waterpipe it had closed a 2 mile section of the dual carriageway with tailbacks all the way along the Brackley by pass and beyond northbound traffic going south onto the M40 .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dark, stormy E Kent - and more forecast!
A busy but successful day yesterday; I even many to get a frozen turkey for next June/July, when DS1 is back from India. All this talk of shortages made me take precautions,
Another step on the way today - we are collecting Philip’s ashes, and keeping them until DS1’s return to bury them. But… Philip’s house is all but sold, to the first viewer, despite being a probate sale and attendant complications.
Quiet day - duck and squash au gratin for dinner, fancied a little treat…
Hope Marydoll and harrigran are feeling better. Everyone “Carpe diem”, and grab a passing flamingo. ????

Ashcombe Wed 20-Oct-21 06:37:24

Good morning, Mick and those to follow, from a dark and wet Torbay.

It sounds like you had an interesting journey yesterday, Mick! Frustrating for drivers.

I shall be busy today with last minute preparations for the arrival of DH this evening, who should be setting off on his local train to Paris about now. He is travelling by €* to St. Pancras, crossing London to Waterloo then down to the SW. A long day! He has plenty of clothes here so he can travel light, luckily!

You sound well organised, grandMattie and that is good news regarding Philip's house. The dinner sounds tasty - I had duck on Sunday, which is one of my favourites. Mm!

Wishing you you all a happy day - mine will be! ?????

Mirning Mick, morning All. A very loud thunderstorm overhead at the moment. Torrential rain.

Plumber due unreasonably early today to sort a delinquent kitchen tap. Other than that the excitement will be dust removal.

A very long day for your husband ash, worth it though. smile. Goodness that is organised grandMattie. Couldn’t happen here with our tiny freezer.

Been thinking particularly of mary, harri and grannysomerset. Life is hard for many at the moment, kind thoughts to all finding it an uphill struggle.

Hope Tuesday is gentle with us all. .

grandMattie Wed 20-Oct-21 06:47:26

Oh, Ash! How wonderful for the two of you. Give olddudders my best wishe. ❤️

Jaxjacky Wed 20-Oct-21 07:04:09

Good morning Mick and all from a dark, wet S Hants, heavy rain earlier, more to come.
A quick sale grandMattie indeed. We’re fond of duck too, now you’ve got me thinking!
Brilliant news oldudders is on his way Ash, a joyous reunion!
Decorators will be back at 8, had to be careful up and down the stairs last night and this morning as the rail is off.
My day on the voluntary phone.
Thoughts with you harrigran you must be exhausted.
Hope your DH continues to improve GrannySomerset.
Have a good day all ??

Nannagarra Wed 20-Oct-21 07:13:51

Good morning everyone. I’ve been listening to the departing screech of a tawny owl and the dawn chorus.
How wonderful that olddudders is on his way, Ash.
A swim for me today then I’ll be collecting DGD from school and, no doubt, making dens with her. Some of her observations have me in fits of giggles…out of the mouths of babes, eh?
?❤️ harrigran, GrannySomerset, Mattie and any facing problems. ❤️?
Take care and have the best day you can.

Pittcity Wed 20-Oct-21 07:25:55

Good morning from rainy Colchester. It's warm though as the heating hasn't come on.
Weekly Wednesday meetup will be indoors for the first time since restrictions lifted. I wonder how many will turn up?
I have a large pile of ironing to tackle this afternoon.
Love to all xx

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 20-Oct-21 07:27:05

Good morning from a very wet Oxfordshire, torrential rain in the night, but not peeped out yet to see what is happening.
Miss Oops went home after 3 weeks yesterday but is coming back today for a bit, the dog misses the garden and our nephew has caught our ‘super cold’ so he will be a mess for a few days yet, so she says she might as well come back home for a visit!
I’m on Steroids and antibiotics so I’m firing on all cylinders, just going to hoover under all the beds when Mr Oops wakes up and then upstairs bedrooms to blitz ready for when the GCs come up next week, sadly the pills will have worn off by then, so I’ll be back to my normal idle self.
ash so good to hear that your DH is well enough to travel.
Granmattie a stressful time for you all, helped in some small way that the house selling should go smoothly.
Harri I was touched, your DH took the brave step of making the decision that is best for you and ultimately for himself as well, you are much loved.
Hugs for all those who are in need of one and for all others have as good a day as you can, hopefully with some smiles.

baubles Wed 20-Oct-21 07:30:34

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s not actually raining yet.

Haircut for me this morning, my hair is quite long, almost armpit length, and I’ve decided it’s doing nothing for me so I’m going to lose a few inches.

DH has his flu vaccine this afternoon, I’ll go along, they may take me too.

Good news Ash.

Thinking of all those with troubles and hoping today brings a little peace. ??

kittylester Wed 20-Oct-21 07:35:24

Good morning all from a damp north Leicestershire.

The new mattress and I had a more comfortable night but DH decamped to a spare room.

Today we restart our Carer Learning programme for the carers of people living with dementia - the last time we did one was before the first lockdown and we had to stop at week 3 of a 6 week course. I hope the same thing doesn't happen this time.

Hoping all went well with harri and her dh's move and that she got some rest.

Beechnut Wed 20-Oct-21 07:37:54

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s raining and just getting light.

I’m out today to u3a. It’s not far enough away to go in the car so the brolly will be up for my walk to the venue.

Like you Mattie I’ve been thinking ahead and have bought a shopping trolley….ready to get food that isn’t there…..

I hope you all have the best day you can. I do think of you even though I don’t always say anything ??☔️

ginny Wed 20-Oct-21 07:39:06

Good morning from a wet N. Bucks.
I’m looking after DGS 3 for an hour or so this morning. Can’t believe he is 5 1/2 months now. Hopefully we will be able to get out if the rain stops.
Craft club this afternoon and my turn to lead the project. So, I must check I have everything needed packed into a box.
Thoughts with all in pain of any kind. Wishing all a smile in your day.

Gingster Wed 20-Oct-21 07:41:34

Good morning all and it’s wet and dark here in Essex.
We may put off our travelling up to Suffolk and go tomorrow instead when it should be calmer out there.

Yesterday I had my glaucoma test at the hospital. First rate service from the NHS. Thorough and speedy. Inconclusive results so I will be recalled in 4 months. I couldn’t fault them.

Ash - how lovely for DH to be joining you . I hope his long journey goes well. ?.

Harrigran - I hope all went well for you yesterday ?

Keep dry and well today.
????

MayBeMaw Wed 20-Oct-21 07:45:06

Good morning all - again- as I was woken by torrential rain round about 4.30 but fortunately the forecast thunder has failed to materialise (as yet)
Another task hopefully ticked off GrandMattie , another wrench, but prolonging the marketing/sale could have been just as distressing .
Oh the “joys” of roadworks and burst water mains! I remember Sarah Kennedy on her morning drive time Radio 4 show talking about BWMs and hold ups at the Stokenchurch Cutting.
Coffee this morning with my (half) brother’s cousin by adoption then film studies this afternoon.
I hope Olddudders has a comfortable journey over from France. If I am honest I think €* is one of my very favourite forms of transport (closely followed by Thalys ) I would not miss never flying again.!
The forecast for today may be grim, but I hope the day is kind to you all - ?- and especially Harrigran flowers

Grandmadinosaur Wed 20-Oct-21 07:45:19

Good morning all. It’s another dark, damp one in East Yorkshire.
Not a lot planned for me today. I’ve been wanting to do a Lidl shop for a while so I might have a trip there.
Pregnant DIL is having has a scan today and she might get a date for her planned C Section. She is 31 weeks but has serious complications that are a bit worrying.

Safe journey for Olddudders Ash and a happy reunion for you both.
grandmattie your meal sounds delicious. I seem to be stuck in a food rut perhaps I should search out some new recipes!

Thoughts to harrigran and others with worries.

Grandmajean Wed 20-Oct-21 07:48:42

Not quite light yet in Cheshire.
Had booster jab yesterday. A bit under the weather last night but not bad at all.
Thinking of harrigranespecially but also others with worries.

BlueSapphire Wed 20-Oct-21 07:50:07

Good morning from a still quite dark Northampton; it is damp out, and we are forecast thundery showers all day. Hoping to get to Well-being Cafe this afternoon; haven't been for a few weeks.

Luckily it stayed dry yesterday, so my friend picked me up and we had a good health walk, followed by coffee and setting the world to rights!

Then I had a phone call from a neighbour offering me an alternative security company's phone number to get another quote for a new burglar alarm system. So I called and as it is a local company he came round straight away. I was offered an upgrade and more features (for a similar price) than the first quote, which seems a better deal, so I shall ring this morning and accept his offer. The best thing is he can do it next week.

A general tidy up this morning, then hopefully out this afternoon.

You must be so excited, Ash, have a wonderful time with your DH!

Thinking of harrigran, and hoping yesterday went smoothly. flowersflowers

brook2704 Wed 20-Oct-21 07:51:20

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry but quite cloudy, rain probably on its way again
I’m so pleased that olddudders is coming over Ash I hope his journey goes well and you both enjoy time together
Today I’m going to the gym for the splash around at the Aqua class and then across the road to a cafe for lunch with a friend. I’m looking forward to it
Thinking of harrigran and hope all went well yesterday
Hoping everyone with worries and struggles has a gentle day and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Marydoll Wed 20-Oct-21 07:56:50

Good morning Mick and all from a showery Glasgow.

GM, you sound well prepared and I am doing the the same. However, it is Christmas, I have been collecting for. A spreadsheet is on my to do list, as I no longer can remember what is in my stash! I think I may have contributed to the national shortage of tiubs of Celebrations, Quality Street etc. ?

I had a successful conversation yesterday with the very understanding and kind pharmacy technician from our surgery. The syncing of medication proved impossible, but she added extra heart meds to try and balance things out and make life easier for me.

The grouting of the bathroom did not go ahead, due to the fact that his lordship intended only to repair and with a totally different colour into the bargain!! Luckily I discovered this in time, or else I would not have been responsible for my actions!

My head was birling from the numerous phone calls I had regarding my parish safeguarding role, due to many disclosures needing updated. Everything was put on hold, due to the pandemic, but things are moving again.
Today will be spent on that, as legislation is changing and I need to familiarise myself with new protocols.
Unfortunately, the professor and I didn't get a chance to spend time together, he has stolen my heart, but I cannot allow him to steal my valuable time, I have work to do! ?
Its a good thing, because it forces me to sit down and not be my usual frenetic self. I feel I am constantly dragging a huge Clydesdale horse behind me and it is really frustrating, that I am so fatigued! ?

Ash, its good to hear OldDudders is coming for a visit. You must be so excited!
I was also o glad to read that there has been an improvement in your husband's condition, GrannySomerset, I hope you are being kind to yourself too.
Praying that you find the strength to deal with your sad situation Harri and you are able to find some peace, as I hope our other friends with sorrow do.

Enjoy your day, everyone, whatever your plans.

Sar53 Wed 20-Oct-21 08:00:17

Good morning from a very damp Essex by the sea. We had torrential rain during the night.
DD1 had a wisdom tooth removed yesterday and in her words 'I was a total mess mum'. I hope she feels better today.
DH and I met up with my youngest brother for a meal last night. We hadn't seen him for more than two years so had a lot to talk about.
Tonight we are going to a dinner at a local Yacht club so I'd best get my best frock out.
Safe journey to Olddudders and kind thoughts to anyone having a tough time.
Have a pleasant Wednesday everyone xxx

dragonfly46 Wed 20-Oct-21 08:13:24

Good morning from a damp Leicestershire.

I had my booster jab yesterday with no ill effects.
Hoping to meet friends for coffee but DH has a cold so may not go ahead.
NWR meeting this evening - the first indoors.

I hope your day went well Harrigran yesterday and your DH continues to feel better grandmaSomerset.
Great news that OldDudders is on his way Ash.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 20-Oct-21 08:16:35

Morning Mick and all

Sar53 enjoy your meal at the yacht club, you may need ?Thinking of harrigran & grannysomerset Dear grandMattie you have had such a lot to cope with.

Ashcombe I hope DH has a safe and uneventful journey to join you.

The rain is easing off here, I am trying to decide if I am in the mood to go to Lakeside to browse for Christmas Gift ideas,

Oopsadaisy I am 6 days in of a 5 week course of steroids (1week antibiotics) so I know what you mean regarding excess energy. I am fizzing this morning.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Nannytopsy Wed 20-Oct-21 08:22:19

Good morning Mick and all his followers. We have the wet weather too in Suffolk - every now and then it switches to torrential and then calms down again to just rain!
I heard about your roadworks on the Radio 2 traffic news and thought of you Mick!
Welcome back OldDudders - enjoy your stay. I hope things have gone smoothly for Harrigran and grandpaS is improving.
We are packing for a few days away in your part of the country GM, I am out to lunch with the WI and then it’s garden club tonight. Everything comes at once!
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

NannyJan53 Wed 20-Oct-21 08:32:00

Good morning from a dark Black Country, where it is raining quite heavily.

I have booked a PCR test for this morning, as I received a message from DD that 10 year old DGD tested positive yesterday. This after a negative Lateral Flow. I was with them at the weekend, and so was Mum. I did a LFT yesterday afternoon, and that was negative. DGD was fine Sunday, but she felt unwell on Monday. Will have to get one sorted for Mum also. Not slept very well worrying about it all. DGD has 2 LFT tests a week, so they are obviously not worth bothering with. If DD cannot go into work, I am not sure what is happening, as she is doing both roles of Head and Deputy at the moment. So fingers crossed.

So it will be a sit back and wait today. Looks like another book to be started!

Wishing olddudders a good journey, I am sure you are very excited Ashcombe

Wishing you all the best day possible.
