Good Morning Saturday 30th October 2021

Good morning from a wet E Kent. The rain won’t last, it never does…
I spent a few happy hours fiddling with the table runner I started on Wednesday. I had “trees” leftover and used them on 6 table mats I had been given. Very happy with the results.
Today, I shall carry on with the appliqués and get started on two totes that GD1 ordered.
Tonight we shall have “hedgehog”. When I minded a friends sons, I used regularly to give them an evening meal. Simon got on my nerves asking what we would be eating. Exasperated, I said “hedgehog”. To my amusement, Simon replied, “Mmmm. I love hedgehog”! So now, a chicken casserole in tomato with black olives, red wine and mushrooms is forever “hedgehog”.
May today be kind to those with sorrow, pain or anxiety. Catch a few ?. Carpe diem! ☀️???

Good morning from our hotel in Cardiff, off to the rugby later, rain is expected.
A horrible journey here yesterday. The M25 was shut for hours and we had to find an alternative route, it took about 8 hours in all !!!
We had a couple of hours looking around Cardiff before finding the hotel.
Breakfast soon then a bus ride into Cardiff to meet up with a group of friends to watch the rugby.

We had our boosters yesterday. Dh is unscathed but my arm is really sore and I have a slightly dicky tummy. So, a good excuse to spend the day 'resting' with the papers and maybe a film.

Takeaway for tea as DH 'cooks' on Saturday evenings.

Good morning all from a wet Torbay with the promise of sunshine later.

Thank you for the very warm greetings from many of you kind people for our anniversary yesterday. We had a lovely relaxing day which included visiting the village (Cockington) where we were married and having a drink in our reception venue - The Drum - a pub designed by Edwin Lutyens, who also designed Castle Drogo and the Cenotaph.

The weather matched the original welding (sic!) day with early rain which brightened to give a sunny day. Our celebration concludes with another visit to the ballet tonight but in Torquay where the English Youth Ballet Company is performing The Nutcracker.

Your creative skills never fail to impress, grandMattie and those appliqué creations are super! Enjoy your Hedgehog casserole!

Not sure what I’m doing today, but I know I’ll be busy doing it! This on I shal ice the buns for DGSs birthday. Will decorate them with Jelly beans which dgs calls magic beans. He thinks beanstalks will grow out of them when he throws them on the ground. He’s Jack and the beanstalk mad. Unusual for an 8 years old!!

Good Morning from the Scottish Borders where it is still raining. I should change my name to still raining.
There was a leak from the ceiling yesterday so at first light a roofer is coming to take a look.
I am taking my bike to be checked over/repaired in time for a cycle ride next week when it may have stopped raining.
Then I shall unpick my knitting and start it again.
You astound me grandMattie with all your accomplishments. Well done!

GM, you are so talented, perhaps you could come and do some of the hems, which I have waiting to be turned up. I'm sure they are breeding !
It would be a dawdle for for someone with your skills.!

Yesterday DH took me to lunch at the golf course, we were the only people in the whole of the restaurant, so no worries about distancing. However, the only food available was soup or sandwiches. The day continued to go downhill after that! ?

Now that restrictions have eased a bit, the phone rang all afternoon with parish co-ordinators seeking advice, on what are the current safeguarding protocols. Safeguarding is not just about abuse, it involves keeping everyone safe, including Covid safety. Rightly so! There are so many questions and it's mentally exhausting, as I have to be on the ball, with the latest advice. Most people are cooperative, but there is always someone who is not and thinks they know better! I have to draw on all my diplomacy skills.

A busy morning with my safeguarding, hat on lies ahead.
I will have the equivalent of an empty, MrMDoll will be locked in his study playing with his PC, which has been away for months for repair. His Christmas has come early.
DS2, the extremely skilled and knowledgeable IT expert, had tested every single part, to no avail. I knew it was bothering him, that he had failed. Without wanting hurt his pride (he is like a dog with a bone), I suggested he just bring it back here.
On Thursday it went to a wee guy down the road and came back yesterday, fixed! It was the power button, the one thing my son said couldn't possibly be wrong, they never break!! My son is like me, I always expect the problem to be difficult, when sometimes a simple fix is what's required.

We don't know how to tell DS2, it sorted. A multi national company's IT system can go down and he is called into identify the problem and a find a solution, ​but he can't identify a broken switch. We think its so funny! ​?

Now that DH is no longer using my PC, I can safely leave it open on the GN page, without him reading it.
He assumes it's a just bunch of gentle, little, old ladies chatting! If only he knew!

I am trying to work out the logistics of drying DS's uniform and contemplating purchasing a heated airer.
Shopping for food and paint for the lounge is on the agenda. I also have a pile of ironing and have noticed some gardening jobs that will need to wait until the rain stops. We won't be idle today.

Good morning all. It’s lovely weather for ducks here in N. Bucks.
We need to do a food shop this morning so will probably have a coffee while we are out.
DH has his booster early afternoon and then will probably watch rugby or some sort of car racing. I’ll make myself scarce as I can’t stand the noise. Hopefully get the Christmas cake mixed which I didn’t get around to yesterday.

Morning from S Lanarkshire where it’s dry at the moment.
Car failed it’s MOT yesterday due to a broken coil which I have a feeling is my fault as I banged into a jutting out pavement last week. I could kick myself but hopefully it will be fixed today.

I was glad I made the effort yesterday in spite of the rain, to meet up with my friend, she was very tense to start with but we ended up having a good laugh and she headed home in much better fettle.
My journey home was a bit eventful. The train was announced as cancelled due to flooding on the line but arrived into the station while I was wondering what to do!
There were various announcements along the way but eventually the driver said he was going to try to make it through which he finally did albeit at a very slow cautious rate.

A home day, now at the end of which I hope I have ticked a few tasks off my list. Nothing, unfortunately, as creative as your lovely Christmas table runner and mats, grandMattie!

Good morning from a wet and blustery Oxfordshire. Another nothing day MrOops had his booster yesterday afternoon and has been tossing and turning all night, he now has sore throat and another cold. So a day in bed methinks.
Marydoll MrOops computer keyboard has a problem you press one key and get a whole line of vowels! Very odd, then it’s fine, so he put a new battery in it (??) of course it made no difference…..

Good morning from a very dark start to the day those blackout curtains do the trick. I’m peeking out now and the curtains have falsified the outdoors. Am I bovered? Not really.

It’ll continue to be a jammy day one more time. Can’t think when I last remained in jammys apart from yesterday and it was just heavenly.

I’ll not be venturing anywhere at least not with my jammys on. I’m not a person who ventures outside with jammys on.

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton; hoping it clears up by this afternoon as I am off to the rugby. A big match today, the Midlands derby, against our local rivals Leicester. Must make sure I am wearing my team shirt and lucky socks! I have a hotpot thawing out in the fridge ready to pop in the oven when I get back and will enjoy it with a glass of red, win or lose.

DGD is still asleep in bed, but I am poised to make bacon butties when she surfaces. Gone are the days when the girls were waking at 6am (thank goodness!). Mum is picking her up at lunchtime.
