Last night was my first real halloween. I have always come home from work to late for it, but as it was Sunday I found some pumpkin paper laterns I had brought years ago and put them on my front door and have a tin of heros poised and ready. OMG! It was so lovely to see the little ones at my door trick or treating, they must love it getting dressed up. One little girl she must have been about 3 was such a cutie she just looked at the tin in my hand and stood there while I put sweets in her little pumpkin. I really enjoyed my first Halloween.

That's happened to us in the past Gagajo.
The weather may have made a difference?

No, it was dry here ?

Where else but Gransnet can you read phrases like ' I might eat the eyeballs when I'm desperate!!'?

I love this place.

PollyTickle Mon 01-Nov-21 20:27:01

I broke a tooth when eating the children’s eyeballs one year

Ooh, are they hard inside? I thought they were all chocolate, I feel cheated now.

And I daren't chip another tooth

Have you lost an L from your name Callistemon?

lemongrove Tue 02-Nov-21 08:13:44

I was thinking the same Cal only one L !

lemongrove Tue 02-Nov-21 08:18:33

No one called here either, hoped the few little ones who now live further down the lane would do so, but Covid or perhaps parents who don’t agree with the concept, who knows.
We did have our own Halloween Party going on here ( noisy)?? but the bell is loud enough to hear.
Btw thanks to those who suggested party food to me, it looked great and was all munched.smile

The basket of chocolates I saved for any trick or treaters was enjoyed greatly by Mr L as he watched football last night.

Yes, I have.
I was having problems logging on and half a blank page when I did, so started again.
It is me!

We had fewer than usual, only 10, so dh has been busy scoffing the leftover packs of mini Smarties. For some reason I haven’t fancied them - I must be sickening for something.?

I have not approved of Halloween in the past but it is so celebrated now that it is difficult when you have little ones. If it is managed properly then it can be fun but not if it’s an excuse to terrorise people and throw eggs and flour at houses. On dd’s estate gc (5 & 2) had a lovely time visiting all the decorated houses and getting treats which had been left outside. If you wanted to take part you left a pumpkin outside or not if you didn’t want to and were left I disturbed.

Undisturbed

Only had two parties round this year, I think some of the children may be getting too old now. I wasn't even sure who they were - but that might have been the costumes!

I see, thanks for explaining! I'm having a few problems too. Must be Gn.
Seeing your name with only 1 L is a bit like having to get used to someone with new 'nashers' ie they dont seem like their old selves for a while!?

That's horrible Lincslass I hope you didn't have any problems.
Not many children in our village but they came round with their parents, my husband made up bags of sweets, he is eating the leftovers himself !!

Thank you, no problems for me, I live in a cul de sac, no escape if they’re caught. Really feel for those who have suffered at the hands of these little darlings. Video evidence of some have gone to police.
