So before setting off on today’s hike, I have applied a full face of make up.
Husband waiting impatiently as we should have left ages ago.
My excuse, well you never know who you might meet.

Am I the only one?

I always wore full make up when I was working, it helped my confidence. I have toned it down a bit, but never leave without mascara (my eyelashes are blond) and tinted moistureiser at the very least.
Also I always wore lipstick, but thatt is impossible, as we are still wearing masks here.

As someone who couldn't put the bins out without makeup on I'm so surprised (and may be a little worried!) at myself that since Covid I just can't be bothered.

I wear it now if going out with the family but otherwise don't bother

Quick stop for a picnic, view appreciation, photo and more lippy ?

janeainsworth Wed 03-Nov-21 13:06:38

Is that Grasmere, Boz?
Another Laura Mercier fan here smile

janeainsworth Wed 03-Nov-21 13:07:03

Sorry! I meant Sago blush

Part of my problem is that I am so pale, I look as if I am seriously ill, if I don't wear make up. It has caused concern, when I have been a patient in hospital and have to confirm, that's how I always look.

I once called an ambulance for a neighbour. When the paramedics arrived they approached me and asked what the problem was. I had to explain that it was my permanently, fake tanned neighbour, who was the patient.

Yes that looks like Grasmere.
You look great Sago: wish I did.
Always wore makeup when working, but now I can't be bothered apart from lippy.

Sago Wed 03-Nov-21 13:16:11

janeainsworth It is Grasmere, we started from Langdale and doing Loughrigg, Grasmere, Rydal and back to Langdale via the Brittania Inn. ??????

me three,i dont want to scare people so i always wear it every day whether im going out or staying in.The one time i didnt that day loads of people called in on me and all asked the same question"was i ill as i looked rough"!!

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 03-Nov-21 13:21:03

I feel much better with makeup Elizabeth and put it on for that reason and also to feel I look better when facing the world, but it’s for me not for them, self respect if you like.

I only wear make up for work. IF I could get away with leaving the camera off (work online) I'd not even bother then. TBH, I only wear the make up to make me look a bit younger. Don't want to get aged out of my job! Easier to fake it on camera.

Always it on make up of going out, it only takes 5 minutesIf I’m at home all day just mascara and tinted lip balm.
Mascara is a must at all times.

ninathenana Wed 03-Nov-21 13:26:51

I have no eyebrows so I have to draw them, that and a wipe of mascara is how I face the supermarket.
If going 'out' I add shadow, eyeliner and lippy

I fell and broke my leg in two places a few years ago. I was the talk of the hospital because I was going on holiday to the Caribbean the next day and had had my hair done and gel nails done on hands and feet that morning - a very glamorous patient! grin

Unfortunately, because it was the day before my holiday, I was wearing some tatty underwear, which was exposed to the public gaze when I had to have my greying, frayed knickers cut off me. The shame! ? ?

janeainsworth Wed 03-Nov-21 13:52:59

Sago I’m envious! I love that areasmile

janeainsworth Wed 03-Nov-21 13:52:59

Sago I’m envious! I love that area. Enjoy the Britannia Inn smile

I can’t understand why women wear make up when all it does, past a certain age, is make you look older.

Sago Wed 03-Nov-21 14:10:49

Esspee I totally disagree I’m 94 next birthday.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 03-Nov-21 14:25:07

Well I’m 70 and a bit of eye makeup knocks a few years off me IMO. Foundation ages me though so I never wear it.

Redhead56 Wed 03-Nov-21 14:33:22

I am freckly skinned I don’t wear makeup I have to pencil eyebrows I lost mine through stress. I usually wear lipstick but haven’t since COVID I don’t see the point still wearing a mask. If wearing makeup makes you feel good go for it.

Esspee Wed 03-Nov-21 14:41:35

Sago

Esspee I totally disagree I’m 94 next birthday.

If you are 94 you Look amazing.
You would look even better without the slap!

Calistemon Wed 03-Nov-21 15:10:42

If you're 94 next birthday then I'll be 124 (or else look it!).

NotAGran55 Wed 03-Nov-21 15:23:17

I’m in hospital, just had my gallbladder removed , and feel naked without my lippy and nail polish.

Marydoll Wed 03-Nov-21 15:35:30

NotAGran, hope you are on the mend! I have been in hospital on a fair number of occasions and although not bothered about make up, while there, my hospital bag now contains a couple of sports bras!

dogsmother Wed 03-Nov-21 15:44:20

I do like a little bit….
But Sago you look 54….not 94 ?
