Hoping no-one else has done this.

We need to get things organised for soop's return.

Thinking of you today maddyone ?

Thank you so much for your lovely kind message mrsoop it’s good that things are so hopeful now for soop - she deserves the very best

That’s good news about Charlie nannytopsy how strange! I hope he’s ok though with no more worries

A very warm welcome to Benjamina good to see you here in the kitchen

We arrived at DD1 in Cambridge late afternoon yesterday, the journey was good and it’s so lovely to be here again for a few days. Our youngest DGS aged 4 has just arrived in our bedroom for an early morning cuddle but no sign of his brother yet. They’ll both be off to school later so DH and I are probably going into town for a mooch around.
Thank goodness your power has been restored SueD and you’re home. Enjoy the weekend with your DGS and teddy although I know you’ll be busy - hope you can get your shopping in!

Jaxjacky Fri 03-Dec-21 07:35:57

Great you’re home, with power SueD; bears like honey, some like marmalade sandwiches too ?.
Welcome to Benjamina and stillearning I’ll move up a bit!

Dogsmakemesmile Fri 03-Dec-21 09:17:54

Condolences Aldom. You are in my thoughts.
Wonderful to see soop's target getting closer.
A bit snowed under (not weatherwise) here. Will retreat for a few days but keep reading posts.

Grandmabatty Fri 03-Dec-21 09:40:29

I miss a day here because of mayhem at Batty Towers and can't keep up with the news! Aldom my condolences to you. Suedonim good that you're back home safely in the warm. Welcome to the kitchen Benjamina and Stilllearning
A nasty virus of sickness and diarrhea hit my dgs1 and dd last night. They are getting over it but very wabbit. A good Scots word for exhausted and under the weather. My son in laws sister was rushed to hospital yesterday with a suspected stroke. She's in her early thirties! I haven't heard how she's doing but dd spoke to her last night. I'm steering clear of the wee family as I don't want d and v.
I put up my Christmas decorations yesterday so I need to get a move on with cards and gifts. Have a good day all.

Gagagran Fri 03-Dec-21 10:46:29

Morning everyone. Feels good to be back in touch and appreciating the kindness and warmth from the lovely Grans in the kitchen!

Soop's fund was at £6560 when I checked a few minutes ago so an excellent start but we must try and encourage others to join in if the target is to be reached.

I have just visited the library and got a bagful of books which will see me through to the return date of 4 January. DD usually passes on some paperbacks she has read so I should be well supplied. I much prefer reading a proper book as opposed to a screen. I like the feel of a book and turning the
pages and as a library member for 70 years, I don't suppose I'll change now!

DH had a call from the surgery yesterday and was given an appointment for another PSA blood test, so the urologist seems to be keeping tabs on him too. We have been so lucky with the care and treatment he has had during the pandemic and will be forever grateful for that. NHS at its best as far as we are concerned.

Thinking of you in beautiful Cambridge Brook - one of our favourite cities, where both our children went to St John's College. Enjoy your visit and especially the cuddles!

Plan is to start wrapping presents this weekend and write the few cards I intend to send. The Christmas spirit has not chimed yet but maybe it will once I start!

Go safely everyone.smile

soop Fri 03-Dec-21 11:00:33

A warm welcome to benjamina and Stilllearning. Our kitchen is so fortunate to be visited by such pleasant newcomers. The more the merrier. smile flowers

Yiayia4 Fri 03-Dec-21 15:10:18

Welcome benjamina and Stillearning warm mince pies and thick cream for everyone.
As we will be away for Christmas I’m busy doing Christmas stuff (diamond art cards), shopping etc.I won’t be posting so much, being dyslexic it always takes me a long time to get my posts readable so will pop in now and again.
Take care everyone,keep safe.

Jaxjacky Fri 03-Dec-21 15:52:28

You’ll be missed Yia drop a brief line when you can!

BladeAnnie Fri 03-Dec-21 15:53:15

Just popping in to say a quick hello - or rather croak!! I must say the medicinal hot toddy was an excellent recommendation ?. I'm hoping I can post today - I wrote my post three times yesterday it and disappeared when I tried to preview. Was someone telling me that my presence in the kitchen is not wanted???? ??

chicken Fri 03-Dec-21 16:00:06

Wow! There's been a £2000 donation to the fund. You'll soon be booking that hospital bed,*Soop*.

TillyTrotter Fri 03-Dec-21 16:13:08

Your presence is definitely wanted in soop ‘s kitchen BladeAnnie and do not think otherwise! ?
I hope your virus of the nasty kind moves off swiftly and it is but a distant memory. There are some nasty bugs this season it seems. Keep up with the hot toddies BA - Doctor’s orders. ? ☕️

TillyTrotter Fri 03-Dec-21 16:13:53

Amazed and thrilled for soop that a sizeable donation has been left today ?

Blossoming Fri 03-Dec-21 16:16:32

Have a lovely time yiayia. Glad that the NHS is following up gagagran, I sometimes moan about the number of blood tests I have, but I know they’re monitoring me and I am truly grateful.

I have the link for my next HealthierYou (NDPP) meeting next Monday, when I weighed myself this morning I am 3kgs lighter than 1 week ago. I haven’t done anything much, just tried to keep away from sugary foods and move more. This is very encouraging, only another 17kgs to go grin

My BP, which tried to kill me and caused so much harm all those years ago, is 119/74. It has to be tightly controlled by drugs, which I am happy to take, having experienced what happens when it’s out of control!

GrannyGravy13 Fri 03-Dec-21 16:41:53

soop your GFM page is growing, a testament to what a very special lady you are ??

BladeAnnie Fri 03-Dec-21 17:11:50

Tilly thank you ?

Blossoming Fri 03-Dec-21 17:17:32

Of course we want you here BA flowers

Aldom Fri 03-Dec-21 17:42:02

I've just looked at Soop's GFM page. My heart lept when I saw the fund stands at £9,480 Isn't it exciting!!
Good luck Soop, not too far to go now.

Dogsmakemesmile Fri 03-Dec-21 17:50:18

We want you here BladeAnnie. Still coughing but don't feel as ill.

Bellanonna Fri 03-Dec-21 18:31:08

Great news about soop’s increasing funds. Shouldn’t be too long now ?

Jaxjacky Fri 03-Dec-21 19:03:43

Well done Blossoming that’s an excellent start ??
Silly BA it’s those hot toddy’s affecting your fingers ? and Dogs sounds an improvement, mine lasted about 7 days. So very pleased soop the little mushroom of your GFM page is spreading.
I must away and tend our cottage pie, I’ve left MrJ in the pub, very festive it looks too.
Have a pleasant evening all.

brook2704 Fri 03-Dec-21 19:27:32

That’s absolutely brilliant news soops on your fundraising, over £9,000! I’m sure the target will be reached soon. It just goes to show how very much you are valued by so many people.

DD1 and SiL have just gone out for the evening so we’ve got the DGSs to put to bed soon and then DH and I are going to settle down on the comfy sofa and watch a film. Some Hotel Chocolate chocolates are here too just waiting to be eaten so I’ll make a start on them ?
You’ve got more willpower than me blossoming and off to a great start - well done you!
Hope you’re feeling much better soon BA and you’ve no more gremlins with your posts
Sorry to hear about your SiLs sister grandmabatty and hope she’s going to be ok, you take care too with the bugs going round
Don’t stay away too long yia and enjoy the dismond art
Thanks for the picture of the festive pub Jax I almost feel I am there with you - enjoy your cottage pie later!

Urmstongran Fri 03-Dec-21 19:50:37

‘Evening All’

Such great news about soop’s GFM page! Such kindness restores one’s faith doesn’t it? There’s been so many harrowing stories in the newspapers just lately that it’s balm for the soul coming in here amongst such caring people.

I feel all fuzzy and warm.
Mind you, I put the heating on today for the first time so that might explain it.

benjamina Fri 03-Dec-21 21:26:45

Fantastic news about soops fund.
This kitchen is a lovely place to visit. I have been made to feel so welcome. We are still away in York. Absolutely shattered with all the walking again today. I am fine while doing it but boy does it take its toll on me when I stop and sit down. Getting older is rubbish! I am still young in my head. Wish someone would tell my legs and hips!

Hellogirl1 Fri 03-Dec-21 21:29:31

Pleasantly shocked and overjoyed to see Soop`s fund rising.

SueDonim Fri 03-Dec-21 21:44:55

Great news about Soop’s funding! smile I finally found time to donate to it myself.

I’m now back home properly, thank goodness. The army is in town, which is nice to see! They seem to be eating all the local cafes out of house and home - all those hungry young appetites to feed! grin

GD is finally in bed and I am not far off the same. It’s been a tiring ten days, during which I’ve driven over 2000 miles. confused I’ve bought some basic foods to replace what we lost, while Dh has been manning the washing machine and tumble drier, so we have clean clothes again.

We popped into town to see the Christmas lights being switched on. V low-key and enjoyable. Sadly, the other Christmas activities, a village fair and carol singing, I had planned to do with GD this weekend have all been cancelled, thanks to Arwen. Will have to come up with something else, but that’s tomorrow’s job.

Night night, everyone! X
