Hoping no-one else has done this.

We need to get things organised for soop's return.

So pleased you’re home Sue and a little bit of normality is back. I bet you’re exhausted after all that driving - I know I would be! Anyhow I hope you can unwind just a little bit this weekend and enjoy spending time at home ?

I love visiting York too benjamina when we lived closer I spent many a happy weekend there when DS was at York university. I think the festive atmosphere this time of year is lovely - enjoy!

Blossoming Fri 03-Dec-21 22:18:41

So glad you’re home safe SueD

SueDonim Sat 04-Dec-21 10:35:47

Thank you, all! ❤️ No peace for the wicked, though, with my 4yo GD here. I was having a conversation with her about hot water bottles at 3:45am - I’m not at my best at that time of day! ? ?

Her mum & dad will collect her at some point tomorrow, then I have one day to myself, before dd2 arrives on Tuesday, dd1 & family on Weds, ds1, whom we haven’t seen for 2.5yrs on Thu (Covid notwithstanding) and ds2 on Saturday. Gah! Still, it’s nice to be wanted. smile

Crumbs SueD hitting the ground running! Good your home though.

Dearest you lovely lot, I am now waking a good couple of hours earlier in order to thank every individual "Happy Christmas" eventer. It really is amazing that in just three days we have been blest with so much support. Mere words seem so inadequate. We are both stunned and heartened and grateful beyond measure. I shall return a little later. The computer is glowing with over activity. wink

Blossoming Sat 04-Dec-21 12:59:41

Dear Soop it looks like it really will be a “Happy Christmas” for you and MrSoop. It is truly wonderful the way that people have rallied round. flowers

Aldom Sat 04-Dec-21 13:27:57

So pleased, once again to see that the fund is continuing to grow. Keeping fingers crossed for you Soop.
Enjoy the weekend. flowers

GrannySomerset Sat 04-Dec-21 13:39:37

Two-thirds of the way there already! Aren’t people wonderful?

Grannmarie Sat 04-Dec-21 13:57:03

It is heart warming to hear of such a wonderful tsunami of support for our dear Soop. I was so touched to receive a thank you email through GFM from the ever thoughtful Mr Soop, but no thanks required, it was my pleasure and privilege to be a small part of the collective effort, truly GN at its best.

Home again after a couple of days childcare for DGS1 and DGD, DS1 and DDinL both had to travel for work. I diid the school runs and walked Granddog. Great to see them and distribute their Chicago mindings..

DS2, DS3, DiLS and DGS2 are coming tomorrow for lunch, looking forward to seeing them all.

Grandmabatty, hope the wee family is recovering, I'm feeling a bit wabbit myself today, very tired after the jet lag, airport lag and childcare. Lazy day today!

Dogs and BA, keep taking the toddies!

Blossoming, your weight loss is brilliant, well done you ? I've gained too much since the pandemic, now I've recently been diagnosed with HBP, I'll see our Practice Nurse on Monday.

Glad you're home, SueD, lots of lovely family visits to look forward to!

Brook, sounds like you and DH are enjoying your family visit in Cambridge.

Maddyone, I hope all went as well as possible for your family yesterday.

Aldom, sincere condolences. flowers

TOYA, take care, I hope all who were affected by the storm are safe and warm now. Have a peaceful weekend.

soop Sat 04-Dec-21 16:14:17

We keep pinching ourselves. It has been three days since we began our "Happy Christmas" thingy. And still the gifts keep coming down the chimney. You lot are mega special. That's for sure.

Logging off until tomorrow. I am such a lucky old lady to have good friends rooting for us. Enjoy your evening. smile moon

BladeAnnie Sat 04-Dec-21 16:51:52

Good afternoon dear kitcheners - a dismal dreary day here ?☔. However Mr BA is keeping up with his retirement promise of going for a decent walk every day, put on his waterproofs and braved the elements. soop no-one deserves this more than you - you can rest easy in the knowledge that operation will soon go ahead ?. I think I'm starting to feel slightly better but still making sure it's a quiet weekend - next week is too busy for me to feel poorly ?. So lounging in the living room with the log burner glowing and Duncan snuggled on my lap ??. And footy on iplayer with the mighty Blades winning - what could be better. Pizza and garlic bread on the menu tonight and I would think a choice from Netflix - although I didn't make it through to the end of last night's offering ??. Enjoy the rest of your Saturday

brook2704 Sat 04-Dec-21 19:32:40

Wonderful news soop, now over £10k and still growing - I couldn’t be more thrilled for you ❤️❤️

We’ve had such a lovely day here in Cambridge, it’s DD1 birthday today and we’ve all been out for a delicious lunch, done a bit of festive shopping and a look around the Christmas fair. Boy it was busy though! I think we’re used to the relative quietness of Inverness compared to here but it was really enjoyable in a bustling sort of way. SiL has now taken DD out for the evening so we’ve got the two DGS to bath and put to bed before settling down - love it though.

I think you’d win the busiest competition this week SueD unless someone says different- such a lot going on! I thought ten past six was early when our youngest DGS came bounding into the bedroom but 3.45am is a record! I’m sure you love it though ?

Your evening sounds lovely BA enjoy!

Jaxjacky Sat 04-Dec-21 19:54:33

Sounds heavenly BA good medicine.

A special time for you brook memories being made.

It’s cold out there, 4 deg here, I feel so sorry for those still without power, I can’t imagine it.

Have a pleasant evening all x

Hello all Kitcheners. Two Bara Briths have appeared out of the oven today so one has been left by the fridge. Help yourselves. There's a block of Cornish Butter too.

Yiayia4 Have a lovely Christmas and I'll look out for you.

Please to see you're back home Sue. Enjoy the one day to yourself, doing nothing, I hope?

Everywhere seems to be getting busy brook2704. I had a lovely day out meandering around my local town last Thursday even though I got wet.

Well done to MrBA. I hope the weather was not too vicious. We keep getting some wicked hail. Idyllic evening BA?

What an amazing three days soop. Looking forward to hearing your news from Ross Hall soon.

Sent a text to my DS today so I have my ??for a call tomorrow. Worries about my DGD and her problems with school continue. I hope it isn't bullying. It brings back all the worries my DD with my other DGD two years ago. The scars of bullying never really go away.

Have a warm night kitcheners. I have twinkly lights up now at the front door.

Urmstongran Sat 04-Dec-21 21:21:21

‘Evening All’.

I’ve been so busy enjoying myself on the politics thread I almost forgot to pop into the kitchen tonight.
?

So much goodwill on threads just lately. It’s really lovely to be a part of this virtual community. x

SueDonim Sat 04-Dec-21 22:00:57

Love that welcoming porch, Muse! ❤️ Don’t mind if I do re Bara brith. grin A day of doing nothing would be a fine thing. I’ll have all the beds to make up (five + airbed + cot), food to acquire and the rest of the presents to get for my son to take back to America. I might not bother go to bed between now and then. ?

I took a look at the GFM page earlier. How lovely to see all the donations, each one I am sure coming with a side dish of love for Soop.

maddyone Sun 05-Dec-21 00:19:27

What wonderful news soop about your fund. It’s growing so quickly, so there’ll soon be enough for the surgery.

A big thank you to all who have wished our family well for my mother in law’s funeral. It was very sad but the words spoken by one of her sons and four of her adult grandchildren (she had four sons so one grandchild from each of the four families) were testimony to her kind and generous nature, how proud she was of her family, and how much she was loved and will be missed. My daughter sent the most beautiful flowers to Grandad from New Zealand and the words she wrote in the most lovely card expressed how much she missed being there and how much she loved her Grandma.
We arrived back this evening having had a busy time and we are now very tired.

Sue I’m so pleased you’re back at home and enjoying having your family round again. It sounds as though you’ll be having a busy time in the next few days. Enjoy.

brook enjoy Cambridge, it’s a lovely city.

To everyone, sleep well, enjoy your Sunday tomorrow.

TillyTrotter Sun 05-Dec-21 08:02:48

Your post has been written movingly maddyone and it is clear how your mother in law was treasured by all your family.
Thank you for sharing it with us.
I wish you well for the future - Christmas won’t be easy without her. ?

Dogsmakemesmile Sun 05-Dec-21 09:29:04

Good morning everyone. I send my best wishes. My father died a few days ago from Covid. I won't be posting for a while. I don't know any of you but I feel I do and I am grateful.
