Our Queen

I have been listening to a radio prog about whether or not the Queen should give up the throne to Charles as she is starting to have health issues. The thought struck me has she started showing signs of dementia at 95 years old. Its not long since she lost her beloved husband and like in many marriages if this illness starts the other person covers for them in many ways. Now its about 6 months since his death are they more apparent and she is no longer able to hide it and the family are concerned about her. I hope and pray she is really suffering only with back pain but i have a niggly feeling it may be more than the palace is disclosing. I truely hope i am wrong. God bless her.

Did she give a speech at cop? didn't Charles stand in?

She gave a filmed speech at COP.

At her age I would be more surprised if she didn’t have a few health issues, even with all her top specialists they can’t wave a magic wand
It’s a well known fact that a lot of people die within a relatively short period when they lose a spouse of so many years, and that’s without all the family arguments

I don’t think for a moment that she has dementia. Her problem may be exactly as reported. Perhaps she slipped in the bath. Perhaps she has osteoporosis. I hope we will soon see her again.

eazybee Mon 15-Nov-21 12:58:42

No, it is an injury because she will keep parachuting everywhere, following her success at the Olympics.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 15-Nov-21 13:16:12

Oh of course, silly me not thinking about that!?

Sarnia
My very thoughts .
Why oh why, and who can deny her majesty is a fighter, so just for once and to all the doom and gloomers. give our queen a break.

Isn’t this the trouble though with the few trickles of information we get told? By saying that she is entitled to privacy over her health.

We’ve been told she has a back sprain. What more do you want ?

henetha Mon 15-Nov-21 13:27:45

No sign of dementia that I've noticed. I really don't think so.
I suppose it's possible and is being kept secret.
But she will never abdicate as she regards it as a god given duty to be our Queen. The family are stepping up more now, so I gather.
I do feel very concerned about her at the moment. We will lose something invaluable when she goes. And I hope people will give Charles a fair chance. He's a good man at heart.

Goodness me, just does not seem like dementia at all. As someone just 64 with numerous illnesses I think our wonderful Queen is in amazing health for her age. A back sprain is what I do believe is the issue - nothing more, nothing less. Of course - though it is sad to contemplate it - she cannot go on for ever, and will surely have to slow down, whatever that entails, I would definitely not think dementia comes into it.

HM has her mother's genes and she was tough as old boots. My bet is that the Queen has been out riding around Sandringham which might be enough to give her backache at her age - or any age!

I heard she fell off her electric scooter.

I think your speculation about the Queen and dementia is rather distasteful travelsafar
Did you hear it or read it somewhere or is it just guesswork on your part based on no evidence whatsoever?

Nobody on here has detected any sign of it, so I can’t help wondering what you hoped to achieve by starting this thread.

I heard she fell off her electric scooter.

If so I bet she's really annoyed with herself!

I didn’t explain my thoughts thoroughly.

What I meant was people will always read other things into what has been reported and start to gossip. You only have to see the odious Nicholas Witchell (Sp) on the BBC for example. Also a few weeks ago how we were told that was she was at Windsor when she was in fact in hospital - so untruths from the palace.

For your information what has been said so far is plenty adequate for me thank you.

I have wondered if this back problem as we are being told is a cover up for something else.

I wonder if she was riding her horse and doesn't want people to know because they'll all say "She shouldn't be doing that at her age!"

Why ???

JaneJudge Mon 15-Nov-21 15:49:17

horse riding is good for your back as it improves your core smile

What is this new thing that people can just say anything they like with no evidence. I think the Queen has hurt her back whilst trampolining, I have no evidence for this but it's what I believe.

I think you could be right Galaxy grin

I don't think many of us would still want to be working at 95 but the Queen just carries on.
It's hardly surprising that she gets tired and has now sprained her back. I sprained mine falling down the stairs while running recently.
I don't think she will give up the throne but the younger royals will take on more of her work.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 15-Nov-21 17:22:52

She’s ancient! Getting a bit passed it. If we are lucky to live to that age we will be the same. Doesn’t mean anything other than a bit of frailty setting in and time to put on her slippers and relax. My mum lived to 101, but by the time she was 95 she was passed doing anything physical and really quite like pottering doing her own thing without any outside stress.

Just think it would be more sensible to hand the baton to her heir, but it is her choice.

Kim19 Mon 15-Nov-21 17:43:34

Apart from her current backache, am I right in thinking HM still rides on a regular basis? Think I read this recently and just wanted to make sure I have my facts correct. If so, I think that's wonderful and more power to her elbow. Great lady.

I read she had given up riding because of ‘discomfort.’

Can’t say I blame her ?
