Well done Alegrias, first class googling skills. No pitchforks headed your way I’m sure. That’s settled then, as is whether HM has to tip up to the House thanks to Annie.

I didn't see GMB yesterday and I don't know anything about Maguire. However the reports this morning said that he said the Queen can no longer do the job she is meant to. I rather agree with him.

In the last few weeks she has pulled out of visits to NI and Glasgow, and now the Remembrance Day event. She may well be still doing her boxes. I don't believe for a minute she has dementia, she has seemed very mentally sharp over the last few weeks.

But there are obligations on our Head of State. There are things that only the HoS can do, no matter how much her son and grandson step up to the plate, there are things that need her signature or her presence.

All the righteous anger about how she can stay as long as she likes? Well there are constitutional implications of that. What would be wrong with having a Regent? Demonizing people who ask that wouldn't be the behaviour of a constitutional democracy, asking that must be allowed.

I agree with this, so if there are any pitchforks heading anywhere, they’ll have to head towards me too.

I do too. Maguire is a Republican and Pierce a Royalist so they do have interesting and emotional debates on the topic.

I just wish the royal family had “staff” not “servants”. Somehow that sounds so much more condescending.

I only caught a bit of GM tv today (don’t usually watch it at all). There was a newspaper editor called Kevin who pronounced the Queen not fit for purpose (or words to that effect) as she was no longer able to carry out the duties of her job as pledged. I’m not a great Royalist, although fond of HM but found his blunt, arrogant attitude quite shocking.

I know who you mean, he used to be on QT often and I would question whether he himself is fit for purpose.

A little bird told me that it was one of the Corgis that caused HM to fall off her electric scooter, by running into her path. Luckily, she landed on the Corgi, and just hurt her back - it could have been worse! She was wearing a helmet, too, unlike when she goes horse riding.

Do we know how the corgi is?

They used to have a show together on LBC. It was great.
Pierce is an editor for the DM, and MacGuire for the Mirror

Being a bit of a pedant here, but his name is spelt Pierce rather than Pearce. When I looked it up it was anyway.

It isn't just the arguments between the two naughty boys that is enjoyable to watch, it's when Anna Botting steps in to tell them off, (though she looks like she is trying not to giggle!)

She seems sharp as a new pin to me, reminds me of my dear Mother who lived to 100 and still had a sharp mind. The Queen has had a really tough couple of years, it is right that she should rest, at 95 we can’t expect her to go to everything as she did before. She can do zoom and that is fine with me.

Digressing I know but I do get annoyed by Anna Botting giggling and almost flirting with Pearce and Maguire and her time management is awful! Rant over, sorry!

travelsafar what a nasty suggestion for a thread about the Queen. Have you not seen her many appearances on the news recently. She is as bright as a button mentally.. her old bones may well be playing her up and she has lost weight

Good to see the Queen back in action today, and standing as she greeted her visitor.
Obviously the Palace keen to send out the message that she is still ‘doing her duty’.
