I have noticed that Camilla is walking behind Charles is this correct as he isn’t King?

Hear hear Lucca

Any road up, let's go back to talking about how well matched Charles and Camilla are.
They both look younger and more relaxed now than they did years ago.

theworriedwell Wed 17-Nov-21 13:11:05

It's not particularly a feminist thing, it's a human thing.

You seemed to have a problem with men in front here.

I hate to see women scuttling around after some miserable swine as he strides off in front having a tantrum.

Anniebach's comment about the Queen in front of Prince Philip ignored.

Sorry I do think it is feminist, maybe people just don't recognise it.

I'm constantly amazed by how many GNers know what people really mean when they have written that they mean the exact opposite.

I really couldn't give a flying fart who goes before or after, any more than the royals give a flying fart about me.

where i live there is an elderly couple, i think indian and she always walks behind her husband with her head down, i think this is a show of respect to her husband, maybe camilla is doing the same in allowing people to see her husband first, it also depends on what they are visiting as a few years ago it was all over the papers when an aircraft carrier was being named after prince charles but he walked behind as she had been the lady sponser of the aircraft.

Diana thought she was marrying a gentleman.

MissAdventure Wed 17-Nov-21 13:53:26

I expect Charles has mellowed, because you can just see there isn't the tension there was with Diana.
Perhaps he is happy to share the limelight more, or perhaps he feels Camilla is more suited to sharing it.
(Or perhaps she hisses "Oi! Wait for me!)

aggie Wed 17-Nov-21 13:55:47

I just saw them on the news , walking side by side !

Just as they should.
Partners.

For the record I never thought Diana (a contemporary of mine) was bad. She personified the fairytale princess for me. I do think she was badly treated. I think Camilla acts with decorum and seems pleasant enough and loves her husband. They both look happy and relaxed.
My comment and photos weren't to put anyone in a good or bad light, just to show how it was between a couple who happened to play their arguments out in public. Naturally comparisons will be made

MissAdventure Wed 17-Nov-21 14:13:07

I bet Meghan wouldn't walk behind.

Yes it's amazing how some posters know exactly what you're thinking and what your motivation in posting is even when their analysis comes as news to you.

Sorry but for me it is not! As I said ….

I think it’s daft for Philip to have walked behind the queen just as much as it would be daft for key to walk behind William.

MissAdventure Wed 17-Nov-21 14:21:12

Well, it's been a good day for me.

I've found out I'm a feminist, and said "fart" in a thread about the royals. wink

BlueBelle Wed 17-Nov-21 14:35:34

I couldn’t care who walks first or last they seem a very contented and happy couple I think Camilla has been very very good for Charles it’s just a shame for everyone that they both had to go through a difficult first marriage
Good luck to them both a good marriage

sodapop Wed 17-Nov-21 15:42:28

I agree BlueBelle they both seem content with their lives now. I don't think Camilla particularly enjoys the limelight but does her bit with dignity.

I have some breathing difficulties and my husband tries to slow down to accommodate me but often strides ahead without realising how quickly he is walking. I just wait now for him to notice I'm not by his side ?

Dickens Wed 17-Nov-21 15:47:20

Anniebach

Phillip walked behind the Queen, I very much doubt he would have yelled ‘wait for me’

... LOL grin

GillT57 Wed 17-Nov-21 15:54:45

Josianne, we are the same, whoever has the dog lead is in front, saves any nasty trips and tangles with the lead!

Summerlove Wed 17-Nov-21 16:05:37

Anniebach

Yes and 35 when she gave that interview.

Why is it assumed a 19 year old is always an innocent, naive girl.

Is Greta Thunberg so ?

Charles was 33 when he chose to marry the wrong girl, And older when he chose to have extra marital affairs. What does Diana’s age have to do with anything

Sparklefizz Wed 17-Nov-21 16:07:49

they both seem content with their lives now.

Well, they trampled over a lot of other lives to get to that situation - both sets of children for a start.

No, there have been several occasions when she has led from the front ;)

Sparklefizz Wed 17-Nov-21 16:10:59

It's not "a shame" for them. They each chose to go through their "difficult first marriages". Something that's "a shame" is an event that happened that was out of a person's control.

Forsythia Wed 17-Nov-21 16:20:53

I like Camilla. She seems good at what she does, not constantly looking for the limelight just quietly goes about her charities and duties such as they are. She dresses appropriately, her hair looks nice, she seems cheerful and has a sense of humour. Not a drama Queen. Charles seems much happier since he’s been with her. They seem a contented couple.

Bluebellwould Wed 17-Nov-21 16:40:25

I like Camilla too. I think when Charles married Diana he thought he was getting a biddable, pliable young lady who would keep in the background and let him shine in his ‘superior’ position. Diana thought she was getting a loving, supportive spouse who would look after her and put her first like most loving partnerships do. Diana needed love and validation (as we all do, of course), and she got none from her husband and in-laws so got it from the press and public instead. They neither got what they needed. It was all so sad. With Camilla, Charles has the mothering kind of love he always wanted and I think he has changed so much as a result of Camilla supporting him instead of competing against him. Camilla is a mature woman and doesn’t need validation from the public, she gets it all from her very loving husband and therefore isn’t publicity hungry. Just my humble opinion of course.
