Have you seen the reports showing her performing on the street. Sucking a baby’s bottle and talking gibberish. Why would anyone think this was a good idea? It’s absolutely cringe worthy.

Oh Josianne I’m ‘barmy’ am I sad

What I say Fanny can be deemed crazy too, so your comments are in good company. Notice I didn't say YOU. grin

maddyone Fri 19-Nov-21 10:37:25

I thought the It’s a Royal Knockout which was done years ago was absolutely cringe worthy then. I didn’t see Meghan’s latest interview (didn’t see the first one either) but it also sounds cringe worthy. It seems to me that Meghan likes to be in the spotlight.

Alegrias1 Fri 19-Nov-21 10:44:36

I would prefer if Meghan didn’t use her title as she was asked not to by the Queen.

Source?

maddyone Fri 19-Nov-21 10:49:15

Oh give up Alegrias. It was all over the every news outlet at the time that Harry and Meghan left. I’m not going digging to find one particular source when everyone and his dog knows this because it was widely reported.

Alegrias1 Fri 19-Nov-21 10:53:29

No maddyone, I won't give up.

A bunch of rabble rousing papers said that they thought the Queen should remove their titles just to get people going. She never did. They are still Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

So its just another smear, isn't it?

And if people believe that lie, they'll believe others. About much more important things that what the Royals decide to call themselves.

maddyone Fri 19-Nov-21 10:59:07

No, it’s not a lie. Harry and Meghan were allowed to keep their titles, but not use their titles. I assume that was to try to prevent them making money from the use of their titles.
I agree that many people believe they should lose their titles, but that is very different from just not using their titles. Apart from anything else, I understand that in order for their titles to be removed, it would require an Act of Parliament, however feel free to correct me if I’m wrong on that one.

Josianne Fri 19-Nov-21 10:59:48

Apologies to you Fanny, reading back it wan't even your comment which I found perplexing and barmy, but a later one. Misunderstanding I think, (though personally I have no idea what value the information adds to the discussion.)

"Harry has the money, servants and the time (no job) to be a perfect Father"

Lemon I think you have overlooked the fact that he is a Chief Impact Officer and we all know how hard they all work at chief impacting!

I believe I read he has also joined some corporation or other dedicated to putting the truth out in the public domain so that's good! oh the irony

Then of course there's all the drivel podcasts for Netflix, Spotify etc. etc.

He's done well for a boy with two A levels hasn't he?

Two a levels. Are you implying that’s good or not good ?
Just checking

Coming back to your question Lucca, of course A levels are an achievement, but much depends on the school, the pupil's home environment as to how easy or difficult they are to achieve. Harry would have received a very specialised education, small classes, it's one of the most expensive schools in the country after all, parents of pupils who go there would expect nothing less.

In his younger days, he was pretty open and honest about his struggles in an academic environment and I imagine it must have been hard for him at such a high achieving school. I was pretty sympathetic to him back then, but that was long before be started pratting around on the world stage taking private jets to tell the rest of us "we could all do better!"

That authority on all things Royal, the Daily Record:

In January 2020, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Harry and Meghan, who left the UK, would step back from official royal duties and no longer use the titles His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness.

They have however been allowed to continue to use the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

I expect I could have done better if I’d gone to Eton grin

maddyone Fri 19-Nov-21 11:05:11

Oh my Lord Alegrias, The Daily Record, that’s a new one on me! Never mind, every word that’s written must be the absolute truth.

Alegrias1 Fri 19-Nov-21 11:07:43

Well the other source was the Daily Express, but I have my standards. grin

Beswitched Fri 19-Nov-21 11:11:11

I think the point a previous poster made is that this term was originally coined by those condemning Ellen Dé Generes for being gay. For another poster to then use the same expression a few posts later... well it does come across as being unpleasant. If she hadn't read the previous post she could have just said so.

FannyCornforth Fri 19-Nov-21 11:15:28

Thanks Josianne and Beswitched
I fondly remember The Daily Record from the early 90s. One of my student housemates bought it every day. It was always full of stories about kids and alcopops.

lemongrove Fri 19-Nov-21 11:16:59

Algerias !
Never realised until now what a fan of the Royals you are....or is it just the Sussex family?
Don’t worry about them, they have squillions in the bank and many hangers on in the US who think they’re the best thing since sliced bread.

I do think that it’s rather shocking to have access to all the academic excellence that Eton must offer, any to come out at the end of it so poorly he can’t be very bright, can he

maddyone Fri 19-Nov-21 11:25:58

Alegrias grin

Re Harry and Eton
Going completely off piste here, but what the heck.
I’ve always wondered why a first from Oxbridge is held in higher regard than a first from Scumbag College.
Surely it’s much more difficult, and a greater achievement, to get a good degree from the latter?
Can anyone shed light? Thank you!

Cold Fri 19-Nov-21 11:30:11

Eton was under huge pressure to get Harry that second A-level because it was the minimum requirement to enroll at Sandhurst's Officer training programme. Therefore the Art teacher was ordered to write his Art coursework for him.

It all came out at an industrial tribunal a few years later because they sacked the Art teacher when she complained (internally at the school) about being forced to help Harry cheat

I didn't watch Breakfast TV hmm

Its always the same story... you can't get away from it, its everywhere..

Its not, really its not. The only place I've seen any discussion about it is on GN. But then Channel 4 News thinks other things are important.

It's a shame channel 4 doesn't do any news in the mornings. I think the standard of all the others has got worse and worse. I've gone back to radio 4.

maddyone Fri 19-Nov-21 11:31:49

Fanny I suppose we could say that the royals don’t really need to have a long list of academic qualifications, do they? I know Charles went to Cambridge, but I have a sneaky feeling he didn’t need to do so well as my son did in order to go to Oxford. Maybe I’m wrong. I just have a feeling I read years ago that he didn’t have great A level results.

Maybe I read it in The Daily Record Alegrias grin

Never knew that. Did she win at the tribunal?

I applied to Scumbag College Fanny, but they wouldn’t have me grin

Never liked Ellen Degenerate. Perfect guest for her, Meghan.

grin Suits her.

So we're calling gay people degenerate now are we?

That’s a huge and somewhat ridiculous leap!
