One of my male friends painted my nails.
He does them far better than I can.

The Blue Badge people in Surrey! I was ill and completely forgot to do my renewal. I did it online on Wednesday and today they have approved it and have sent it out! What a spectacular service.

My husband made me a big pan of onion soup for the next few days lunches. Delicious.

Aveline

Had fun with a friend trying to see if she'll pass the number plate reading test for driving. We were just standing in a car park. No need to worry.

Did neither of you fancy a trip to Barnard Castle then? wink

Aveline Fri 26-Nov-21 19:12:06

Oldnproud- brilliant idea. Now why didn't I think of that?
We must have looked so odd peering at cars and trying to judge distances. Unfortunately, she didn't do very well so might not be allowed to continue driving. I didn't say anything as I wouldn't want to hurt her feelings but if you're not safe to drive you're not safe to drive...

Good news from a family member who has been through a very harrowing 'bad patch'. Now the clouds are lifting and things look good for Christmas. That made my day.
Also, a photo arrived on the family WhatsApp of my DGS (16) wearing a chef's jacket and apparently working in a pizza place! My GC are good at finding jobs - he's already a paper boy. That made me grin!

Just had a progress call from my cousin (79) who fell down a stair today. She is back home and x-ray revealed minor fracture. Could have been so much worse. Having read/heard huge difficulties with ambulance services theses days, I'm delighted to report it arrived within ten minutes. The two medics were wonderful. Can't praise them highly enough. Oh yessss.......... whew.

Teacheranne I shouldn't worry that spare time will be filled before you can blink

We are reaching the end of an extension building programme and today the contractors arrived to put in the new radiators and get them working.

As they left the warmth was flooding around our new kitchen, just as the wind started blowing and the rain hurled down. All systems go for (COVID permitting) a lovely family Christmas.

bridie54, I'm just having to make some custard now I've read that. (It's certainly soup, cocoa, pudding and custard weather.)

Our DDIL called round for a coffee and a chinwag. So happy we have a good relationship, and she feels able to call in on us. We love it .

Woke up this morning expecting lots of damage to greenhouse and other things in the garden after the horrific storm through the night, to find to my joy only the refuse bins had been dancing about and collapsed on the lawn, obviously tired but unhurt.

At this moment in time I’m feeling delighted. My garden is in perfect condition. There’s nothing looking untidy. All is like a picture good enough for inclusion in a gardening magazine.
It might be a nuisance later, but the first snow of the season? I love it.

Alioop Sat 27-Nov-21 10:44:01

I got up this morning to find just one plant pulled out of the garden after some really wicked wind last night. Was waiting on a lot more damage, but roof tiles, etc still intact. That made me very happy. Also seeing the sweet face of my wee dog when I opened my bedroom door this morning, but I suppose that's every day.

I know Monica, I’m a devil for getting involved in things! I am going to relax over Christmas though as my sister is visiting from the US and staying with me so that will be great fun. In the new year though I know I will start organising / being bossy again.

I am however looking forward to going to WI things and not having to do any work! No more sleepless nights worrying about all the emails I need to send, I had to write things down in the wee hours to remind me before I could get back to sleep!

Watching our 7 year old King Charles Spaniel running hell for leather around our garden that covered in 4 inches of snow this morning!! He’s living life.

Waking up to a warm flat and feeling reassured that my poorly little cat is still with me. Only one day to get through now before her surgery.

Speaking to my older son on his birthday which was 50 years ago up to today and musing about both my sons from birth up to today.

I was given permission from my consultant to be able to drive again after 10 weeks of being at home with a broken ankle. Oh the freedom is amazing.

SillyNanny321 Sat 27-Nov-21 11:18:43

Answered the front door to a caller to find next doors lovely dog had escaped & came to visit! Fuss then taken home! Our stray beautiful black cat been here for over two years crept out from the bush with a ‘what was that about’ look & more fuss! Back indoors to my little black cat who told me off! Does not like the girl outside so I cannot adopt her but lots of fuss from both cats & the silly dog really made my day!

GrannyLondon Sat 27-Nov-21 11:20:12

Hello blzzle, I hope your cat is well after her surgery. Good luck to her and you.
