Lewis Hamilton and his Mum

Lovely to see Lewis Hamilton knighted, he is a young man who has achieved so much. Great to see he took his mum to the ceremony I’m sure she was super proud. She’s dressed to head to toe in Chanel, I like the outfit apart from the frilly blouse, but maybe that’s just me. Anyone else agree?

And criticising a public figure is not the same as making comments on the outfit of a mother and non celeb.

Chewbacca Thu 16-Dec-21 09:16:55

Oh please don't critique her outfit, she is a normal woman and someone's MUM!

This x 1,000,000. This was a lovely, positive OP until the unnecessary pop at the woman's choice of blouse. Why do women do this to each other? sad

Maybe because there is NO forum for Fashion?

Even if there was a forum for fashion putting up photos of non celebs and discussing their outfits would be unkind.

Josianne Thu 16-Dec-21 09:19:15

Well my saying the blouse was Laura Ashley looking is not a pop. My wardrobe has similar designs and mumofmadboys for example saying she wasn't sure itsn't being derogatory. Etc for other posters.

Why comment at all?

Lincslass Thu 16-Dec-21 09:24:30

They both look very nice, and lovely to see his mum with him.

What are we like!!!!

A thread about a proud Mum and her newly knighted Son and all most can talk about is her (not his) outfit.

Actually, ‘most of us’ are talking about the ones of us who are talking about the outfit.

Btw there is a ‘Style and Beauty’ forum.

Good point Fanny on both accounts. I'm just fed up with posters criticising each other for commenting on just about everything in life.
Back to pets' photos, straightforward commenting about the subject on there! grin

Witzend Thu 16-Dec-21 09:44:18

I’m sure his mum is rightly proud of him, but I must say it irks me that anyone very rich, who is greedy enough to choose to live abroad in order to avoid UK tax, should be awarded any kind of honour.

Forsythia Thu 16-Dec-21 09:44:56

She looks lovely. Both look proud. Rare to see mum, it’s usually his dad so good for him taking her.

That's unfair.

If you posted a photo on here of you with one of your children who was receiving an award and said how proud you were and here's us on our big day, and posters started saying 'not sure about your outfit' 'I wouldn't have chosen that frilly collar' etc would you not be hurt and annoyed?

FannyCornforth Thu 16-Dec-21 09:54:10

Beswitched if I were Sir Lewis Hamilton’s mother I wouldn’t give a fig what a few internet randoms were saying about my blouse!

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 16-Dec-21 09:54:35

I couldn’t agree more witzend.
I was disappointed he didn’t wear a tie and I won’t comment on his mother’s outfit on the basis of saying nothing if you can’t say something nice.

vegansrock Thu 16-Dec-21 09:56:22

I wasn’t “having a pop at her” I was just commenting on which part of her outfit I liked / didn’t like - my non -important opinion which I’m sure wouldn’t bother her a jot. - She looks a really proud mum and I am so pleased for them both , I thought it really nice to see that he’d taken his mum. I put this in chat - I’m sure a chat about people’s outfits isn’t being nasty - I liked the jacket/ trousers combo- I’m sure she liked the blouse as she looked very happy in the pic. I’m glad he got the knighthood- well deserved and I hope he enjoys it

FannyCornforth Thu 16-Dec-21 10:03:14

I, a) criticised Hamilton for his tax avoidance;
and
b) said that his mother’s suit looked like M&S
(nothing against Marks’)

So, am I naughty or nice? confusedgrin

Lizzie72 Thu 16-Dec-21 10:04:49

Maybe the folks criticising her outfit would like to put up a pic of themselves in a smart outfit, so we can compare?

henetha Thu 16-Dec-21 10:09:22

She looked fine, and that isn't the point anyway.
Well done Lewis. I haven't always been a big fan, but there is no doubt he is an incredibly talented driver. I felt very sorry for him after this weekend's fiasco grand prix.

Hetty58 Thu 16-Dec-21 10:12:00

She should be very proud of all his work for human and animal rights. I don't really care about her outfit.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 16-Dec-21 10:15:41

Perfectly valid views Fanny. In the exceedingly unlikely event that I were invited to an investiture I think I would opt either for a proper 'matching' trouser suit or a dress and matching coat or jacket rather than something that might, however expensive, pass for smart casual. Obviously money is no object if it was all Chanel and Dior. There, I've broken my rule about not saying anything ...

lavenderzen Thu 16-Dec-21 10:24:14

As usual a silly thread completely hitting the wrong note!

Instead what a proud mum she must be of her son Lewis.
Lovely to see that he took his mum along on his big day.

FannyCornforth Thu 16-Dec-21 10:29:40

Shep I’d go completely bonkers in full Westwood / McQueen and wear an enormous hat.
And I might accessorise with an alpaca, or an ocelot.

Lizzie, if I had such a picture, I would happily share it.

Lizzie72 Thu 16-Dec-21 10:34:47

No pics of yourself in a smart outfit, Fanny?! (Me neither grin)

paddyann54 Thu 16-Dec-21 10:52:41

Very surprised that a young man who is so vocal about BLM issues was happy to accept an EMPIRE medal....maybe nobody told him the Empires role in slavery etc .I would have much more respect for him if he'd told them to stick it where the sun doesn't shine....principles? not when money or titles are involved .Gone down in my estimation .

EllanVannin Thu 16-Dec-21 11:10:16

It's a lovely photograph. Well done him he's done so well.
Mum is and looks as proud as the proverbial peacock and why wouldn't she be ?
