Why oh why are this brain dead pair so constantly in my online news feed?

I'm so irritated by them that just the sight of their names p* me off. Has a women heading towards 60 really got nothing better to do than constantly take selfies of herself in a bikini?

annodomini Fri 17-Dec-21 09:55:16

I haven't seen, heard or read anything about either Liz Hurley or Amanda Holden recently. Do I watch the wrong shows and read the wrong newspapers?

Yammy Fri 17-Dec-21 10:04:19

They are self-publicist who live on you or I taking notice of them. They are certainly not brain dead. I would add Ruth Langford to the list as well. Just ignore that's what they don't want.smile

henetha Fri 17-Dec-21 10:07:27

I'm just envious really, that they re rich and famous and I'm not grin

I think there are rather a lot of women who make their living by being constantly in the news. I think it’s sad really that they feel they need to use their botoxed and nipped and tucked bodies and faces to sell themselves. Madonna for example is constantly pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable, and I feel it’s sad she feels she needs to do this.

I forgot to add photoshopped as well. The picture you see often isn’t reality.

Liz Hurley has been an active supporter of the ‘Estee Lauder Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.’ She has also helped raise funds for a host of charities like the ‘Prince’s Trust,’ ‘End Hunger Network,’ ‘Absolute Return for Kids,’ ‘Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre’ and ‘Elton John AIDS Foundation.’

She is an ambassador of ‘Hop, Skip and Jump,’ a charity for children

Yep, just "brain dead" isn't she? I'm trusting that the OPs achievements have been more significant and worthy.

Well done for that Liz Hurley. Credit where credit is due.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 17-Dec-21 10:32:30

I never see anything about them (thank goodness). I must be reading/watching the wrong (?) stuff.

Liz Hurley must have something about her given that she had that long term relationship with the legend that is Hugh Grant. I can’t see him being with someone brainless. Does anyone remember that dramady that Amanda Holden was in at the start of her career. It was about ( I think) a school in Birmingham and starred that other legend, Noddy Holder. It’s Carol Vordeman that I can’t stand. I don’t like ‘celebrities’ that advertise things like life insurance and equity release ( not that she sells that but does advertise similar things).

I remember that programme. Amanda Holden was quite good in it.

Vests! Our mums were obsessed! I remember being in my 30s, married with kids, when she would lift my top to check I was indeed still wearing one! (I wasn’t) grin

maddyone Fri 17-Dec-21 11:35:17

Vests! What about liberty bodices? grin

Deedaa Fri 17-Dec-21 11:42:11

I remember some years ago when "Project Catwalk" was one of my secret vices Liz Hurley visited one of the contestants at home to discuss their work. I was surprised how very nice and normal and interested in everything she seemed. Not a bit like a celeb.

Blossoming Fri 17-Dec-21 11:44:37

They don’t come up in my online feeds, so far!

I probably sound bitter, which I am, due to all the problems I have had with my physical appearance. However, when I see my granddaughter comparing herself to these 'stars' and striving to to look the same it's upsetting. Good for them that they look good, but they shouldn't keep shoving it in our faces.

They are not shoving it in your face, you can choose to ignore it and move o to something else.

Chewbacca Fri 17-Dec-21 12:43:16

They don’t come up in my online feeds, so far!

I think it depends on which websites you visit frequently; the algorithms deduce what type of "interests" you have history of viewing and send feeds based on your search history. hmm

Allsorts Fri 17-Dec-21 12:55:58

I am not interested in the people mentioned all the emphasis on physical appearance, so I either don’t read about them or if on tv, switch over they don’t interest me. Although I don’t wish to sound unkind, but I cannot understand why anyone would like a bottom like Carol, she cant help what she has naturally, but I would not be emphasising it with skin tight trousers as if it’s something we should aspire to have. I think the same about Kim Kardashian’s rear, it’s truly scary. I believe she has paid to have a huge out of proportion bottom, it’s puzzling. How do they sit on a chair?

BBbevan Fri 17-Dec-21 13:44:37

Well said*Allsorts*. There are a lot of truly vacuous’celebs’ around these days.

DiscoDancer1975 Sat 18-Dec-21 10:42:14

You have to remember most of the time, what you see isn’t real. The camera does lie.

I personally haven’t seen anything about either of them, but I suppose the constant exposure comes with the job, whether they are good at it or not.

Just sounds like hard work to me.

GagaJo Sat 18-Dec-21 11:06:41

To be honest, I don't really care WHAT they do. Get it out in winter all they like. I just really really don't want to keep seeing articles about bikini clad women appearing in between reports about covid, the tragic and horrific deaths of children and Tory corruption.

News should surely mean just that? Not gossip and page 3 level glamour shots.

hollysteers Sat 18-Dec-21 11:20:35

Lucca your comment should be said in a Maggie Smith/Downton voice as in “What is a weekend?” Lol

GagaJo stop following the news, it’s not good for you.
Read War and Peace instead.

I remember that programme. Amanda Holden was quite good in it.

It was called ‘The Grimleys’.
It was filmed in and around Dudley (my hometown).
Holden’s character was called Miss Titley.
Brian Conley was the PE teacher.

FannyCornforth Sat 18-Dec-21 11:31:24

Here you are smile

FannyCornforth Sat 18-Dec-21 11:33:01

If I gave my opinions of Vorderman, I’d probably get a ticking off from HQ

Ali08 Sat 18-Dec-21 11:38:35

You should be able to click on an X or the 3 little dots somewhere to remove them from your timeline or wherever.
