Why oh why are this brain dead pair so constantly in my online news feed?

I'm so irritated by them that just the sight of their names p* me off. Has a women heading towards 60 really got nothing better to do than constantly take selfies of herself in a bikini?

CleoPanda Sat 18-Dec-21 11:46:18

Must admit to not knowing much about these actresses and definitely not seeing anything about them in my news feeds.
What I would say, is good for them. Make money out of it whilst you can. If a news provider pays you £20,000 for a series of bikini pics, and you look fabulous, why not?
I wouldn’t do it, couldn’t do it, wouldn’t even wish to do it, however using your assets to make huge sums is a pretty intelligent move.

Kalu Sat 18-Dec-21 11:49:09

I don’t take an interest in the lives of ‘celebs’.
Their chosen careers have afforded them a very comfortable lifestyle which many would covet I imagine. Good luck to them.

EllanVannin Sat 18-Dec-21 12:01:39

I tell you what, I'd give them a good run for their money even at my age-with a wrinkle-free body too ! Tall, slim and " bumps " where they should be. I've never lost nor gained weight throughout which makes a vast difference, also no great ills either.
It's just that I'd be frozen to death without my vest/ tights and all my woollens gringringrin. A purple/ blue body wouldn't make the Vogue grin

There'd have to be a big fire up the chimney before I'd even put a frock on let alone a bikini.
I do realise how lucky I am and though not ancient, there are many who don't have the good luck nor the privilege of remaining comparatively well in their 80's.

Chewbacca Sat 18-Dec-21 13:00:49

To be honest, I don't really care WHAT they do.

Well, clearly you do otherwise you wouldn't have started a whole thread about how much they irritate you.

Urmstongran Sat 18-Dec-21 13:13:39

I don’t think this photo has been photoshopped.
I was a bit shocked by her appearance to be honest.

A very famous and talented actor with a lifetime of achievement under his belt was once criticised for making a susbstandard film. The interviewer accused him of doing it purely for the money.

The actor replied, yes it wasnt one of my best but it paid for my fabulous house.

If I had good looks I would certainly exploit them. Alas I was born something of a plain Jane, with a rather prominent birthmark on my face, so no chance. ??.

If you've got it flaunt it, if you can make a bit of extra cash doing so then why not.

DerbyshireLass Sat 18-Dec-21 13:29:25

And I certainly dont think they are brain dead. You don't get to stay working in such overcrowded professions as acting, modelling, etc unless you have that extra edge.

That extra edge is usually a combination of brains, guts, resilience, commitment, hard work and sheer staying power.

And yes, celebs like Hurley often do vast amounts of work for charity. They put their star power to good use.

Instead of feeling aggrieved and jealous of their success I see these strong, powerful, glamorous women as models.

If the likes of Helen Mirren, Jane Fonda, Joan Collins, Tina Turner etccan be old enough to draw their bus passes and still wonderful then there's hope for me yet. ??

Kalu Sat 18-Dec-21 13:32:46

An unfortunate snap of Fergie.
I’m sure many of us have been there. I certainly have with some awful snaps for proof. ?

DerbyshireLass Sat 18-Dec-21 13:35:45

Unlike Diana who the camera adored, Fergie never was very photogenic. The press used to seem to take a perverse delight in showing bad photos of her.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 18-Dec-21 13:42:43

I think Fergie is looking a lot older now but perhaps she chooses not have ‘work’ done, if so good for her. She still has the lovely long red hair. I think the photo caught her at a bad moment.
I’m not a fan of Liz Hurley, Amanda Holden, Helen Mirren & co but I admire the hours they must spend keeping so toned and trim. I suppose if you earn your living from your looks it’s the price you pay. I certainly wouldn’t call them brainless, they’re obviously very savvy to have had successful careers for so long.

HowVeryDareYou Sat 18-Dec-21 14:27:24

Liz Hurley - what does she actually do?
Amanda Holden - a judge on a "talent" show, which is ironic as she hasn't got any talent herself.

They're both attention-seeking, the same as Katie bloody Price.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 18-Dec-21 14:35:06

I believe Liz Hurley has a company selling bikinis (what else?!) that she designs.

I think that's just an unfortunate and cruel still of Fergie from TV footage. I'm no fan of hers but speak as someone who is definitely not photogenic!

Anyone can be caught with their mouth open, eyes closed, grimacing etc.

I think if the press have an agenda you have no chance - as in Ed Milliband eating a bacon sarnie, and the endless awful photos of Cherie Blair.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Sat 18-Dec-21 15:26:20

It's a shame that these days they seem to be more famous for being famous than any actual achievements which have been forgotten. I assume the media is still run by men who fall for a pretty face and figure.

Dear late husband used to say, "I see Liz Hurley is in the papers again for nearly wearing a dress."

Beswitched Sat 18-Dec-21 17:04:23

Sarah Ferguson was actually very pretty when she was a young woman and suited the sloaney type clothe that were fashionable then. When she joined the Royal family she seemed to become heavily styled - fussy hair dos, haut couture, and it just didn't suit her. Diana was tall and thin and looked good in most things. Sarah looked better in plain unfussy clothes and a natural hairstyle.

Goodness me you can’t lump Helen Mirren in with those other two !! A fantastic actress and a beautiful woman who always looks a million dollars and who has not resorted to masses of “help”. A bit possibly but not much.

Agree Lucca. The first two I would say are at the ‘ cheap’ end of the industry. Liz Hurley was in Austin Powers wasn’t she? Which is the only thing I know her from. The other one....I know who she is, but that’s it.

Helen Mirren is in a completely different class.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 18-Dec-21 17:13:13

She must work hard to keep her figure though Lucca. You’re right I shouldn’t have lumped her in with the others. In a class of her own and happy to show unretouched photos.

sodapop Sat 18-Dec-21 17:23:11

I never take a good photo either, always have several chins. I think Fergie has that very fine skin often associated with redheads. Doesn't age well.

I agree about Helen Mirren and Judi Dench in the same category.

I know I should like and admire her but I can't and have no idea why.

GagaJo Sat 18-Dec-21 17:32:57

I also agree. Helen Mirren, Maggie Smith, Meryl Streep, Halle Berry. All good for a lot more than glamour shots.

Kalu Sat 18-Dec-21 17:57:10

Helen Mirren??
Wash your mouth out Gsm ?

Something I do notice more and more however is the number of actors/ celebs etc., who have had work done to some extent from a touch of Botox to full face lifts, extremely white dental implants, male and female which removes character from their faces. Sadly, society is such that a more youthful appearance is necessary for those in the industry if they wish to continue in their chosen career

Galaxy

Liz Hurley's body isnt down to plastic surgery alone that looks like lots of hard work. Makes me tired even thinking about it.

That made me laugh Galaxy ?

Actually I would LOVE to have photos of me in a bikini publicized. Bahaha, sadly I think it might put people off their breakfast. Am not a huge fan of either but credit where it’s due, they do look good despite their advancing years. Go for it ladies. Who are they harming?

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 18-Dec-21 19:50:51

What’s that about Helen Mirren Kalu?
