Forgive me if anybody else was lined up to start this - but wide awake with a million thoughts buzzing through my head I wanted to do this before everything kicks off and I get too tied up with kennels, surprise visit from D and GS, - and what I am dreading, loading the car!
So happy to hear of the -ive PCR test results and with loving thoughts to any and all whose Christmas plans have been blighted .
To all Grans and grands and fellow Good Morningers - my Christmas message to you all !

Alygran Fri 24-Dec-21 08:39:00

Good morning from the High Peak. I’m still in bed at DD2’s. She is working in her study but brought me a lovely cup of tea. I drove down from North Yorkshire yesterday. It’s a drive I have done many times but especially moving to do it alone at Christmas. I found myself blinking back tears on the M1.
DD1 and family are joining us tomorrow providing LFTs are all negative. We are keeping our fingers crossed.
A relaxing day for me, all the shopping is done and presents wrapped. There are too many to mention individually so I wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas.

Happy to see the lovely wedding photo Kitty and to hear that all went well on the day. Wishing much happiness to your DD and her DH sunshine

Welcome back to the thread amselerin and it's good to know that you have been able to spend some happy time in your new UK house. We all wondered if that had happened! Have a joyful Christmas in your German residence and keep posting updates so we know how you are! smile

Still learning, I have a hotline to His Holiness, Il Papa! ?

amselerin, delighted to see you posting!
I notice Greyduster, a regular, hasn't been posting. I hope she is OK.

Nannytopsy Fri 24-Dec-21 08:41:30

Good morning everyone and welcome to MrsJeeves. Lovely to hear your news Amselerin. Lovely photo Kitty - a happy day.
It’s a beautiful morning in Suffolk although there’s a bank of cloud along the horizon.
DD and SiL are still recovering from Covid and isolating so we can’t go to them for the second year. There is exciting news on the horizon there, which would have been so exciting to share with them. I can say no more - yet! ?
Luckily, we can spend the day with DS who lives locally and who we often see. The DGC spent yesterday here, making gingerbread Christmas trees, cards etc. while Mum cooked and cleared up. There will be lots of DiL’s family present which makes me a bit nervous. We shall cook the turkey here and take it over, to free up oven space for them.
Time to get moving!
I hope everyone enjoys their Christmas whether it’s quiet or busy.

Good Morning MawBeMaw and All from a cool South Bucks.

We have 4 lovely yellow roses in bloom in our garden. ????

Thank you for the beautiful crib scenes Ashcombe and Cornergran.

What beautiful hair your daughter has Kitty and I did toast you all last night.

I’m so pleased those of you who were waiting to be released can now meet up with your families have a lovely time.

Mary you did make me laugh when you were given permission to take things easier in the kitchen department thus Christmas but still had to prepare the turkey plus any required equipment. I wonder if they will ask you to turn on the oven and baste the bird ?

For those like me who for a second year are banned from meeting up with family because of this awful virus, I hope you have a good Christmas despite the restrictions. I admit the tears are flowing as I had promised my grandsons `I would be with them. On the upside I have a warm comfortable home with my DH we have plenty of food and we will be Zooming the family.

See some of you tomorrow ?

NanKate Fri 24-Dec-21 08:50:07

? Alygran.

Happy Christmas NannyJ in the Black Country.

Stilllearning Fri 24-Dec-21 08:56:30

Good to see you back amselerin

EllanVannin Fri 24-Dec-21 08:56:58

Good Morning All x Thanks to Maw.
Cloudy and still but dry so far and on the mild side---strange.

Will be cooking my turkey crown later after taking it from the freezer last night. Won't really be doing much else as everything is pretty much in hand.
Managed to hoover right through yesterday then gave the dust collection compartment a good wash, filter and all grin

How joyous everyone sounds, it's lovely to hear, may things stay like that.
A lovely photo of the bride an a beautiful festive bouquet, so glad it went well kitty.

Safe journeys for those travelling and take great care with any last minute dashes. I'm so glad we haven't got icy pavements !

Expecting D to pay a flying visit to pick up the children's presents at some point though I know she'll be mad busy and of course awaiting Ruby's arrival today sometime, she'll be collected on Boxing Day. I don't know if I mentioned that the child was no longer on medication----no more meltdowns !

I'm picturing D in the morning with 7 excited children, imagine the din ? grin Goodness knows what size her turkey is. The table will be groaning under the weight of dinners.
I wish I was there to help her, it was the original idea during the back end of summer, but that was all dashed. D will film it on her phone and I'll see it all that way.

Looking outside now it's not a bad sort of a day, sun's a bit watery looking but it's brightened up a bit.
Anyway, no matter the time of year, the crumpets are calling out so I'll round off for now and wish everyone a Happy Christmas, stay safe and well and enjoy yourselves xx

Good morning all from a dismal North Warwickshire with rain promised later. Hooray!

I'm not really new but haven't posted for a couple of years although I read most days (long story).

I live alone and am so far from family that what with Covid and no meet ups have had no preparations to make other than adding Pringles to my online order.

My friend and landlady (or perhaps I should call her waterlady since I live on a narrow boat and pay mooring fees rather than rent) will bring me Christmas dinner tomorrow. She is a blessing.

Happy Christmas everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 24-Dec-21 09:09:32

So lovely to see you posting Amselerin

muse Fri 24-Dec-21 09:16:13

Merry Christmas Eve everyone

Beautiful bride kittylester

Yesterday’s MRI went smoothly despite me going into the scanner head first. That was a first! Felt like a bag lady in my leggings and baggy top. Necessary when you’re bra less for the day! MrM said he liked the look. Saucy!
Hoping, in about 3 weeks, for confirmation that the ‘mass’ I have in my lower back is not growing. When it was found 4 years ago I panicked. Neurosurgeon said it would be a very risky operation to remove it as was close to the sciatic nerves. Biopsy showed it to be benign so the decision (mine) was to leave it there and have a series of MRIs. It’s remained at a stationary 7cm x 3cm and doesn’t trouble me at all. ?the result of yesterday’s scan will be same.

My worries return about my DS and DGD2. My encouragement to them to seek help for her has fallen by the wayside. I find it hard to accept how they are dealing with her anxieties but I have too.

Very cloudy here in Cornwall. Heavy rain is on its way for tomorrow so we’ll not get our Christmas Day walk on the beach. ?for Boxing Day.

Take care fellow Good Morningsters. ?

LadyGaGa Fri 24-Dec-21 09:17:43

Another lurker here! Just wishing you all a Merry Christmas. I feel that I know you all, and it’s been a privilege to be let into all your joys and sorrows. Feeling nostalgic about Christmas Eves when the DC were little, but love seeing their lives and GC making memories of their own. Busy days ahead but I’m amazed at how organised you lot are! Wish I was more like Nigella, making the finishing touches to my homemade stuffing, but chaos seems to follow me around! Oh well, too late to change now, must get the Paxo ready. Have a lovely day all xx

Grammaretto Fri 24-Dec-21 09:20:34

Good Morning or Glaedelig Jul for those of us who have Scandinavian family.
It has stopped raining so I will hand deliver my last minute cards.
In Scotland we celebrate Hogmanay & New Year even more than we do Christmas so it is never too late to deliver Seasonal cheer.

The wedding must have been joyful Kitty. Such a happy bride.

I am glad your travel plans were not thwarted grandMattie
Funny about the Christmas turkey Marydoll. At least it will be prepared exactly how you like it. Just be careful they don't overcook it!

I have just realised there are no buses running tomorrow so DS will collect me.

Hope not too many have had their travel plans scuppered.
Nice to see new posters and ones not seen for a while.

annsixty Fri 24-Dec-21 09:23:58

Good morning to you all.
A former very regular poster but now just a reader which I do everyday.

However I couldn’t let Christmas Eve go without sending my very best wishes to you all.

I am still in bed drinking tea while it seems most of you have done a day’s work already.
I am in a very reflective mood as this is my 85th Christmas, some of them not so good but the majority very happy.

We must make the most of what we have been given,it is as it is.

No white Christmas for most of us but I hope you all have the best time whether with family or not.

Your D looked beautiful kitty I hope the marriage is as good as mine was and that says it all.

Fondest greetings to you all.

Pantglas2 Fri 24-Dec-21 09:32:50

A belated good morning all from a wet Espana ??? - that wasn’t on my Santa wish List!

I left it it late so that I could catch up with everyone’s news and lovely to see some golden oldies popping back boat lins amselerin to name a few - wouldn’t it be nice if FridayGirl appeared.....?

My cold has pretty much gone and DH is less chesty (same could never be said about me ?) so we are going to festive brunch at friends restaurant later - a table for two so that we don’t get too close (but they’ll still hear me....?)

Glad to hear about the great getaways and lovely wedding - wish I’d thought of marrying at Xmas, more festive memories I’m sure.

May all tests be negative (unless you’ve been trying for a while of course ??) and have a great weekend all you lovely peeps!

luluaugust Fri 24-Dec-21 09:35:04

Good morning from W Kent, off for a little light shop at local garden centre, must get going, still hoping to see DD2 tomorrow. Good wishes to all regulars and lurkers. Love the bride.

Grannmarie Fri 24-Dec-21 09:36:36

Good morning one and all from a dull, damp North Lanarkshire.
Wishing everyone a happy and peaceful Christmas, hoping and praying for a happy, healthy and safe 2022.
I'm glad to hear of so many family reunions going ahead, thinking of those whose plans have been upset.
I'm testing now, hairdresser at 11, Christmas Vigil Mass at 5pm, exchanging gifts with my sisters in the evening.
Tomorrow, we're visiting DS2s family, Sunday, DS1s family. DS3 and partner will come with us each day.
I'm very thankful that we will see all three sons , dils and three grandchildren between Saturday and Sunday, testing again for visits to opposite sides of the country.
Lovely to read everyone's news today, take care, God bless.

Shropshirelass Fri 24-Dec-21 09:52:23

Good morning from a grey and murky Shropshire. Made cake and chocolates yesterday (just have to box the chocolates), cranberry sauce and stuffing to make today and getting turkey ready to pop in the oven tomorrow morning, only 4 of us for lunch subject to negative tests! Friends popping round this afternoon for a cuppa and mince pie.

CherryCezzy Fri 24-Dec-21 10:17:42

Good morning to you all from the Gower.
I know I haven't been posting, I think I've got a touch of ptsd from shenanigans that happened earlier this year.

For those who are struggling or unwell I send you ?
For those of you alone I send you ?
For those of you seeing family or celebrating I send you ?
For all of you I send you Christmas wishes ⭐
From me I send you ❤️

Oldbutstilluseful Fri 24-Dec-21 10:22:55

Wishing all the lovely posters, regular or lurking like myself, a very happy Christmas. It’s wonderful to read your daily ‘doings’ , both happy and sad and you have certainly helped me through another long year. So a huge thank you from me, your resilience and stoicism is amazing and reminds me how good people are.
As said by another poster, it’s good to see some old names on here and a little nod to Amselerin who may make her home in the UK. Kitty the photo of your beautiful daughter brought tears to my eyes, thank you for sharing.
Enjoy your Christmas wherever you are and whoever you’re sharing the day with, even if it’s just with memories of Christmas past.

CanadianGran Fri 24-Dec-21 10:27:53

Good very early morning here (02:10) from northwest coast British Columbia. I am working a very quiet shift so have time to read and catch up. It was an unexpected call last night to cover a shift, normally I would work just 4 hour shift on Christmas Eve, and be off at noon. Instead, I hosted some friends for a visit last night, got the call to come to work at midnight!

So my original plans for the day will be skewed. Instead of getting off at noon and starting to prep tomorrow's dinner, I will get off at 0800, sleep until noon, then get busy.

We will have an at-home day, then family will come tomorrow for Christmas lunch. 9 of us for dinner, so not too many.

We have had a lot of snow this week, we have about 1 foot on the ground, and lots piled up by sidewalks and front yards. It's about -8 celcius now, and forecast to stay at -10 for the next few days, brrr...

I have a hummingbird that chose to stay for the winter instead of migrating (a very few do stay), so I have continued to fill the feeder, but I have had to be thawing it every 4 hours or so, and bringing it in every night. They are such delicate and tough little birds.

Thinking of you all that cannot be near family this year, and hope you find contentment at home, and keep company by joining in this lovely site.

Kitty - what a beautiful photo, your daughter looks stunning, and very happy.

Merry Christmas to you all, I really do enjoy the camaraderie of this group. Cheers.

Kalu Fri 24-Dec-21 10:29:30

Thank you for opening Maw. Another gloomy day outside but inside with lamps on and fire lit it’s so very cosy.

Your DD looks very serene kitty and a beauty. Lovely picture.
GrandM What a difference a day makes indeed! Your happiness is jumping off the page. Have a wonderful time with family.
I can feel the excitement of the children EV and Ruby arriving today is the icing on the cake. It will be madness at your DDs but being together tops it all. I hope your GD is doing ok.
You deserve to be spoiled Marydoll. Sit back and enjoy the day.

Welcome MrsJeeves I hope you join us. ?
Welcome to you too LadyGaga. Your lurking days are over and you are now one of us, adding your morning news.
I noticed your post the other day Greyduster I hope all is ok with you and look forward to you joining us regularly again.

I easily got an appointment with our dentist yesterday. Abscess confirmed and antibiotics started, I feel an improvement already.

Looking forward to seeing DD1 and the girls on Sunday. I have bought most of the suggestions GDs have listed for our Boxing Day Buffet this year. A relaxed affair opening gifts and sitting round the table enjoying food and lots of chat. GD2 has requested a game of charades, let the fun begin. ?

Best wishes for all to have a pleasant day. ?

henetha Fri 24-Dec-21 10:33:09

Thank you to all the lovely grans on here. GN helps me get through the day marvellously.
Wishing all of you a truly happy and peaceful Christmas.
